As I'm sure everyone is aware of by now, yesterday we had some unexpected down time here on Mutual Endeavors. At approximately 4:20 PM Eastern Time, the website was completely inaccessible to both members and administrators alike. This problem persisted for the better part of six hours. Some time around 11:00 PM Eastern Time last night, the site magically restored itself. I have gone to great lengths to try to determine the issue, and all I can conclude was that it was very likely a problem on the server's end. Click the arrow to read more.
Ladies and gentlemen, I experience a strange fusion of pleasure and displeasure as I am both happy and not happy to tell you that we have had our first spammer: CHARLOTTEGX. Why am I happy? Because it means ME is so hopping that it's worthy of spammers' attention! Why am I not happy? Because it's a bloody spammer! It bumped the "What Would You..." thread with a post that was completely and utterly unrelated, and of course, had a completely unrelated link. Which leads me to ask... who the hell actually falls for that crap? You see spammers that just post unrelated links and crap all the time, and you have to wonder... does anyone actually fall for it?
Anyways, I deleted the post and the user from the database, in accordance with terms of use tidbit here: "Staff members can and will ban you, unsubscribe you, poke you with very sharp sticks, hang you upside down by your nose hairs and/or forbid you from using M.E. resources, as well as feed you to our rabid pack of lions and mock you openly should you commit any offenses deemed worthy of such actions." I'm out of sharp sticks and nose-hair-hanging implements, and the lions are PMSing and I don't wanna get anywhere freakin' near them, so I settled with banning, unsubscribing, forbidding, and with this post, openly mocking! And what offense deemed worthy of such actions? Spamming our lovely freakin' website! So let this be a lesson to all you prospective spammers. Just who the hell... do you think we are?!
