Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #2 ~ 24 August 2003

The Blurb

First of all, ladies and gentleman, I would like to apologize for the delayed arrival time of this week's issue. As some of you may or may not be aware, this weekend was not the best of weekends for SJ. With an unexpected hospital visit and a three day long recovery period, I just didn't have the energy to be as productive on the newsletter as I might have preferred. On that note, I would like to send out an abundance of thanks and gratitude to all of those well-wishers out there. You know who you all are. Thank you so much for all of the kind words and hopeful thoughts. I would like to presume that such inclinations have assisted me in my recovery process, for I'm feeling 100% better than I was a few days ago. With that said, onto the real Blurb.

It can be said that the first issue of Ubique's Weekly didn't receive quite as much response as I might've preferred. Considering that only one of our readers has striven to keep me intimately informed of the goings on of character affairs. We'll be covering what is known and unknown as we always do in the general lives of Rhydin and beyond. You might notice a few changes and additions to the newsletter (now that I've had more time to reconsider and plan). As before, expect updates gallore and information to spread like a disease. Working together and sharing knowledge is what creates the best collaborative projects and helps them to flourish. So, without further ado, I give you:

This Just In

Just as before I feel that I must mention the importance of sharing. Feel free to flood my inbox with details, details, and more details. Those things you would like to share with the rest of our Mutual Endeavors comrades that you feel would be beneficial in maintaining solid story-line structure. All you have to do is This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . That's me: Infamous SJ. From all the information I've gathered in the following week, here are this week's updates:

Gemethyst (Gemethyst): For those of you who may not be aware, quite a bit has been happening in Gem's life. To use a popular phrase: she has been quite the busy little bee. Romance, romance, and more romance abounds in Gem's life. As well as mystery, mayhem, and mischief in extreme amounts. Such things that people might not know, Gem has been spending quite a deal of time in search of a bodyguard. For those who know the character, we probably don't need to explain the why's of such a consideration. Trouble seems to flock to her all around. Last week she was quite ill and kept such truths to herself. No need to get people worried over nothing, we presume.

There seems to be a mystery about a man known as The Summoner who happens to be hunting Gem down. Not all of us entirely know why such things are as they are, but friends of the Weaver might want to keep on their toes for more expected chaos. To quote the source: "She had a run in with Gadreel. He tried to get Mesteno to agree to sign something and to give him a drop of his blood in exchange for not taking all of Gem's blood, which he said the summoner wants soon. Happily, it did not happen, as Gem interrupted before he could sign. Gadreel sent a bolt of something red at Gem, which she dodged, and it then hit Tom. Did not seem to hurt him much. Gadreel slipped away then." More on this to come...

In other news, a potential romance with Morpheus was cast aside for anti-compatibility reasons. Our poor Gem has the worst of luck with boyfriends it seems. Let's keep our fingers crossed for her that soon she'll find that perfect match in the near future.

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Still there have been no Ehz sightings in Rhydin. This past week was mostly devoid of Ehz presence. Mostly due to the fact that in the middle of the week the Rev (Rev DiabIo) dialed her home number in Limbo via cell phone in search of much-needed advice concerning a particular bard by the name of Dris. Rumors state that Ehz gave the Rev instructions in an attempt to cheer the woebegotten bard up that day, but since then there has been no sign of her. Questions of her whearabouts abound, but it can be presumed that she is doing nothing more than biding her time watching the view screen windows in Limbo.

Sheridan Driscol (BardGaIIant): Dris has not been very active out int he socialization factors this past week, but there is still quite a bit to tell. Thursday afternoon he ventured out into the streets of Rhydin only to find himself pondering over entering the Medieval Tavern. To enter or not to enter. Luckily (or unluckilly, you decide), the good Rev (Rev DiabIo) came to his "rescue" by promising quite a number of things. Let's just say that Dris found himself a little flustered on whether or not to take Tomas seriously.

More surprise ensued when none other than a past interest literally bumped into the bard just outside the tavern known as Zeke (XZekeil DrakeX). Dris has had quite some time coping with how to deal with Zeke ever since the man returned to Rhydin and proclaimed his undying love for the musician. With Carmine (Taciturn Merc) back in his life, Dris has found it exceedingly diffucult to come to terms with telling Zeke that he's no longer interest in a relationship with the man. While he may be interested in a little fun now and then, he cannot see himself giving up his one true love (Carmine) in order to test theories. In the end, the two agreed that they could at least try to be friends. Two things Dris won't tell Carmine being that a.) he's still interested in possibly tumbling under the sheets with Zeke and b.) they had quite a steamy make out session only a few weeks previous.

Last weekend Dris suffered an uncontrollable assault of flooding empathy when Tomas tried to kill himself in the Silver Moon Inn's kitchen. Slicing open his hand on a broken glass while tending to the dishes on his shift, he met a new friend by the name of Vee. A healer who kept him distracted while tending to his wound so that he could focus on building walls to block out the empathic impressions. Luckilly, Carmine came to his rescue before he was consumed by emotions that were not his own. Even luckier than that, thankfully Tomas pulled through and did not succeed in doing away with himself that morning.

She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): Less and less has been seen of Faye this past month. Sources reveal that she has been spending quite a bit of time preparing for the next ritual that is scheduled to take place this Wednesday morning (August 27, 2003). The creation of a half-human/half-fae child is continuing on a steady course. As Faye revealed to Gem (Gemethyst), this will be Faye's first taste of blood in quite some time. The Mother-to-be has revealed only the name of the Ritual of Blood to her trusted friend merely due to thirsty anticipation. Expect not to see much of her in the coming weeks.

In other news, Gem shared a bit of information with Faye as well concerning the Watcher's adopted son Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno). In hopes that the castrato remains in tact, Faye sent a letter to him insisting that he excercise caution when dealing with such entities as the Demon Gadreel. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Mesteno heeds these warnings and in the end listens to "his mother."

The Rev (Rev DiabIo): In a series of dramatic events this past week, it can be said that Tomas has experienced quite the number of mood swings. This last weekend he attempted to kill himself in the kitchen of the Silver Moon Inn. Though reliable sources presume that this was enacted against the Rev's will. With the intervention of a certain fae entity known as Random, Tomas was reminded of his friends and family that care for him and was able to drag himself back to the realm of the living before it was too late. It is believed that She Who Tends the Dead was not yet ready to claim his body as is her appointed task.

To talk about mood swings, we must keep in mind that when the Rev encountered Dris at the Medieval Tavern he took the bard by the utmost surprise. Sexual innuendos and invitations were tossed around that were quite enticing to our disbelieving musician. Much as Tomas might not like to believe it, there are some in Rhydin who find him quite attractive. If it weren't for protesting circumstances, the Rev might be overwhelmed with suitors. But... such is not the case as far too many people regrettably have this thing called a conscience. Regardless of the lack of romance, we can certainly say that the Rev is highly appreciated presence in Rhydin. What would we do without him? We'll keep our fingers crossed that better fortune finds him in the near future.

Kakabel (CelestialSorrow): Within the past month there has been no sign of the ex-demon, previous lover of Gem (Gemethyst). Since their break-up, the General has taken his leave from the inner sanctum of Rhydin to travel the world in search of himself. Call it soul-searching, perhaps, but the truth of the matter is that he has kept himself quite hidden. Not even his brothers and sisters know precisely where he is, and at this point in time we can tell you that he prefers it that way. Premonitions foretell of a return in the near future for a short period of time, but the stars do not precisely reveal the when and where of such an event. Keep your eyes peeled. That's all we can say.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): As with his half-mortal brother Kakabel, there is very little known about what has been going on with Cass. What our sources do know is that he was present at the time of Tom's (Rev DiabIo) failed suicide attempt. On top of things, there is confirmation that Cassiel has dealings with a character by the name of Terrel (a mage, sage, demonologist of sorts). This knowledgeable woman has been sought out by Cass in hopes to learn more on precisely how to kill the Summoner who has been tracking Gem (Gemethyst). She gave various propheices to the Angel of Tears and Solitudes. One of which details a black morganti dagger. Facts reveal that she summoned Gadreel and all three of his parts appeared. Vibes on the psychic mindwaves reveal this woman as evil, hedonistic, and jaded. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Expectations

Earlier we hinted at things to look forward to in the future of Ubique's Weekly. Storylines to keep in mind. Changes in the atmosphere. As some of you may know, I will be on a leave of absence for a period of about three weeks at the beginning of the month. During that time I would like for the newsletter to continue and flourish. In order for this dream to be met, I will be handing off the task of writing to a trusted friend of mine. So look forward to future e-mails arriving from an alternate source.

Aside from that, there will be a period of time in which several of my characters will need explanation for their absences as well. These are plans that will go into effect after the next newsletter and all will be explained therein. It may sound redundant, but keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Announcements

This week I would like to make a special mention of a dear friend and comrade of mine. One of Mutual Endeavors very own collaborators known to a select few. For the sake of secrecy, I will refer to her under her pseudonym and screen name: Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren). Which ultimately works out rather well as the player shares her birthday with the character. In advance, on Thursday I would like you all to wish the player and the character a very Happy Birthday! August 28th.

In the future, this section may be used to make similar announcements for other players and characters. Such as the upcoming wedding that I'll be going through!

Final Thoughts

And that concludes this week's edition of Ubique's Weekly. As I might've said before, feel free to pass the word around by forwarding this newsletter to whomever you think might benefit from it's information. On that note, if you know anyone who might be interested in receiving future issues, please let me know so that I can add names to the mailing list. Most of you are Mutual Endeavors members. If you think you know someone who might like to join our little group, e-mail your recommendations to me. Those we trust are those we work best with, and as I trust all of you I'm pretty sure that anyone you recommend is someone I can trust as well.

There are still some characters out there who haven't been accounted for and I would very much like to be able to keep all of us updated on who's doing what each week. Help me to help you by keeping me informed. Collaboration is the key to the best stories ever told, as I might've already said. Tune in next week for the latest news and updates!

Keeping you informed,
--Infamous SJ
