Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #3 ~ 31 August 2003

The Blurb

So this week's issue arrives to one and all a day late. You'll all have to forgive me for that one due to how busy I've been preparing for this wedding. Officially it is Monday, September 1, 2003 and in six more days Stacey R. Juersivich will be no more. She is to be replaced by Stacey R. Miner (but in all due respect she will continue to be none other than Infamous SJ). With all the fast-paced chaos of the days to come, it is to be expected that next week's issue of Ubique's Weekly will not be coming from me. A good number of the Mutual Endeavors crew will be MIA next Sunday (including myself). My only hope is that even though I may be kidnapping quite a number of you, play will continue to go on and people will continue to have fun. I expect to come home from the honeymoon with an overflowing inbox of updates on what I've missed. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Quite a lot has happened over the past week, and I don't know half of it for once. However, as usual there is an abundance of information to share. Characters have been running rampant. Storylines have been flourishing. All in all I hope I can honestly say that the month of August was fun and exciting for everyone. On through September I know for a fact that I won't know anything about what's going on with who and where in Rhydin. Therefore, for a couple weeks here in September I will be handing off the task of writing and publishing Ubique's Weekly to a very dear friend of mine. One of Mutual Endeavors own and one of Ubique's most avid readers, the notorious Motor City Madpup. As for next week's issue, unfortunately MCM is one of those people who will be MIA on the 7th to help me celebrate. Do not fret, my friends, for we are in extreme fortune! Keep an eye on your inboxes for mail from the illustrious ArianaMacGyldren! Three cheers for my darling friend AMG! Hip hip, huzzah! Hip hip, huzzah! Hip hip, huzzah!

Now that we've got all that squared away, it's time to move on with what has happened and what to expect. Having gleaned through all of my resources of knowledge and experience, I give to you:

This Just In

As I've hinted at, quite a bit as been going on in character world. Gleefully I can say that everyone has been doing their best in keeping me informed so that I can spread the word like the plague that it is. So enough with the long-winded introductions, let's just get this party started.

The Rev (Rev DiabIo): This week's character spotlight (number one spot) features the good Reverend Tomas Diablo. My resources are full of information on what the Rev has been doing with his time. Unfortunately, all of the information I have stems from events that transpired the morning of Sunday, August 31, 2003 between the hours of 4:00 am EST and noon (pretty much explains why this issue is so late in the making and sending).

Very early Sunday morning, the Rev was spending his time in the company of his heart's desire (Kameko Yamasaki). Most of the drama entailed the Rev attempting to bring their relationship to a solid conclusion. Are they or are they not a couple? Confusion overwhelmed the tending Dris (BardGaIIant) as his empathy worked in overtime while witnessing the situation. Most onlookers had no reactions to the events, but reports reveal that there was quite a lot of tension in the air. Misunderstandings abounded and in the end both the Rev and Kameko separated without a firm decision having been made. The Rev attempted to rid himself from the world (once again) only to be stopped by the intervening of She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random... yet again).

Sources are still uncertain what is in store for the Rev and Kameko, but there are predictions that it will be quite some time before the two talk to each other again. Fortunately, the Rev did not end his existence that very early morning. This can all be thanked by the interferences of the mysterious entity known as Karmelos. Or should he be thanked? It's hard to say. What we do know is that the Rev has gone missing since that time and not a soul in Rhydin precisely knows where he is or when he'll be coming back. We can only hope that he will be coming back.

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Has been sighted! On a whim, Rhydin's favorite friendly neighborhood psychopath decided to pay a visit to the Silver Moon Inn very early Sunday morning. Her time spent there was not very long, but as always somewhat eventful. After erasing some wounds that Tomas (Rev DiabIo) had suffered and drawing him up a new pair of sunglasses (his had been broken beyond repair), she made a quick departure back to the inner sanctum of Limbo and beyond. Not before helping out another creature by the name of Parhi (The Multifarious) by drawing her up a new pair of clothes. After that, she was gone just as soon as she had arrived.

Sources reveal that not only will Ehz be gone from Rhydin for the next few weeks, but she will also be gone from Limbo as well. Contacting her will be next to impossible as she's left her answering machine on and refuses to answer. Rumors lean towards her having gone on vacation to attend a seminar (for gods know what). Though there is also the possibility that she might have ventured off in search of Tommy. No one knows for certain but I think I'd place my money on the intergalactic seminar thing. Ehz is just ... crazy like that.

Gemethyst (Gemethyst): My oh my has Gem been busy! As of Sunday, she frightened Mithril into transforming into Gadreel. The Demon advanced upon the Red Dragon Keep and Gem where the pair of them indulged each other in a session of verbal fencing. She tried to convince him that she was perhaps more evil than he originally presumed with the hopes of winning back the morganti blade dagger that Gadreel had stolen from her. The very dagger that is their only prophesied hope in destroying the Summoner. Unfortunately, Gadreel was wiser than Gem had hoped and he did not buy the act.

After leaving Gem, the Demon returned disguised as an old woman selling apple tarts. After buying and eating one, the Weaver soon realized the trick as a portion of Gadreel's own demon essence infiltrated her body from the consumption of the tart. A tactic that not only made her intollerably ill but also made it impossible for her to consume anything else. Luckilly, Sin came to her aid and delivered her to Vadriel who cured the "disease" by forcing Gem to vomit up the original piece of the apple tart and the essence within.

Currently the Weaver is resting in Vadriel's care. After fully recovered, rumors reveal that she intends on talking to Vadriel in hopes to convince him into going with her to Hell so that she can steal back the morganti dagger and do away with the Summoner (once and for all).

Sheridan Driscol (BardGaIIant): The ongoing question is, "When is Dris not getting himself into trouble?" The craftsman spent his entire week working on a commissioned piece for a client in faraway lands, but once Sunday rolled around he decided he was overdue for a break. Not to mention that generally on Sundays he helps out his adopted mother Ariana by tending at the Silver Moon Inn. Arriving several hours late for "work," the bard rescued his mother from the evil clutches of fatigue and took up the task of bartending.

Having been primary witness to the emotional battlefield that erupted between the Rev (Rev DiabIo) and Kameko, the romantic tried his best to intervene and bring some peace between the pair. Unfortunately he failed and was left with a worried shadow in his stomach for the safety and sanity of his good friend Tomas. Refusing to take back the guitar he had given the Rev, as well as Faye's Tear to return to her, Dris asked Vee (WhiteRose0088) to place the objects back in the chest near the Grand Red Dragon in the hopes that someday Tomas would return to claim them again as his own.

Many hours afterwards, once most of the morning crowd had cleared out, Dris was graced with the company of Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno). A very unexpected turn of events unfolded when the sadist seduced the bard into a heated and lengthy make-out session. An experience that could have gotten far too out of hand if finally the enchantment of the gold band he wears had not come into effect. The rest of the morning Dris spent explaining what had happened after suddenly an agonizingly cramping pain gathered in his abdomen and he collapsed to the floor in a heap. He admitted that if it weren't for the cursed enchantment placed on him, it was more than likely that he would have once again failed to remain loyal to his one true love Carmine (Taciturn Merc).

Lately the romantic has been overwhelmed with depression due to the fact that he cannot enjoy Carmine's company as much as he might prefer. Waiting is painful on so many aspects. Sources reveal that Dris will be leaving Rhydin city for a few weeks to deliver his latest creation to its buyer in "faraway lands." Rumors state that Carmine will be accompanying him on this trip. Let's all hope that the two of them have a pleasant vacation together, as well as wish them a safe trip "home."

Mithril (ASaintOfSinners): It has been a long time since anyone has heard much about what has been going on with this Third of Gadreel. As of late he has been quite moody and anxious (when is he not?), but moreso than usual. Rumors detail that he has a secret crush on Jade (Irreverent Jade), and therefore has been very worried about her. Strangely, he has been mostly worried about himself. The Child feels the end approaching in which he will reunite with his two other thirds, and this premonition disturbs him. After having spent so much time as his own individual entity, he has come to the realization that he does not want to go back to where he once was. Can we blame him? The better question is, can anything be done?

The Child encountered Gem (Gemethyst) in the Red Dragon Keep. The Weaver made it apparant that she wanted to get information out of him. Unusual tactics were suddenly turned on him in which she demanded to know what his fears were. Cornered and feeling trapped, he disappeared and mysteriously replaced himself with the Demon Gadreel. These events have been previously recounted.

Much later than that the Child encountered Mesteno and told him what those fears of his are. "Love is what drove me to this state," he said. Love being his unusual if not well-founded fear. "Love can so easily turn sour and change to hate. Love wounds when it is gone. Love makes you vulnerable." Even more surprising, he even let Mesteno comfort him for a bit before making a hasty retreat. As a geture of his gratitude, he gave Mesteno his hat before taking his leave. Currently his whereabouts are unknown, but I'm certain we can all hope that he returns safely.

The Monster Lusus (HeartRottedAngel): For the first time ever, the dream demon broke free of his confines thanks to the tiruatl that summoned forth Gadreel. The shadow left behind in the Dreaming was just enough to fool his Keeper so that he could intricately interract with the world beyond. Appearing as a disembodied spirit to torment Gem and her friends, this marks the first time all three parts of Gadreel were together in the same space for some time. There erupted quite the horror show in the Keep that evening. The Nightmare Keeper has taught him very well it seems.

Sources reveal that it is likely Lusus has been recaptured and returned to his bindings in the Deep Dreaming. It is to be expected that Kymeera is keeping a closer watch on him than before. Both the Monster and his Keeper are growing far too restless these days for certain.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Before being taken away to an undisclosed location, he managed to deliver a copy of the prophecies to Jade for her to translate. Blaming himself for the Rev's near-suicide attempt, he has kept himself quite busy and quite alone. Other than that, not much else is known of the Angel of Solitudes and Tears whereabouts. For those who know and love him, let us hope that he returns to us whole and happy.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He watched the inn one fine night so Ariana could go visit Don. He still hangs out as Jade's cook, all the while cooking up some secret plan of his own. Or he could just be here for fun. Or perhaps he has another message to deliver. Perhaps all of these things? Perhaps none? You never know with Yoshi.

Carmine (TaciturnMerc): Still quite in the dark about Dris's secret passions concerning Zeke. He has been busy getting the place ready for his son to be. He looks forward to the time when he can go all the way with Dris again.

Rei (AmethystStarfall): Gem's son so far is developing nicely. He might grow up to have a taste for tequila and pickles. His fate is unknown, but rumor has it that the Summoner has taken considerable interest in this child.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): Still plotting, still scheming.

She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): Other than appearing to witness the Rev's carnage in the city streets and attempting to contact Kameko as the Rev wished her to, the fae has been out of commission. Sources reveal that Kameko wanted nothing to do with the dark spirit and sent her away before she had the chance to discuss with her the Rev's feelings on the matter of their relationship. Unfortunately, She was no help there. However, it is interesting to note that she has taken a particularly unusual interest in Tomas and in aiding him. The multiverse may never know why, not even after being asked by the Rev himself.

It is strange to note that she has had very little to do in tending to her Child charge Mithril. Rumors state perhaps that she might be testing him in some fashion. Just how is unclear. Then again, she may merely feel that he is capable of watching over himself now without the need for her to be constantly nearby. She is always watching, though. Of that, we are certain.

During the month of September there are many preparations to make now that Autumn has arrived. This being Faye's most empowering season. The Seeding Ritual is scheduled to take place on the morning of the 25th this month. It is unlikely that She will be very sociable from now until then, but perhaps there will be more sightings of her at the end of the month.

Fury (ReversedHaIo): Not much to report about Fury: She's being even more anti-social and only leaving her house for the weekly run into town to buy supplies for her dresses and such. She is, afterall, a seamtress whose creations are highly sought after. And that's it.. Oh.. She and Mithril did call a cease-fire for the time being. Her grudge with Gadreel as a whole is still going on strong. We can only but wonder what will become of the rivalry in the end. If there is to be an end that is.

Rekah (Rekah Dravina): So, Rekah is off on the high seas! Having finally found some sailors to take her along. (AND NO, it's not sexual.) She'll be gone for quite some time, after all she is searching for her father. Let's all wish her good luck on her journey! Rhydin could use more of the crazy girl, that's for sure.

Expectations

As previously mentioned, for the next three weeks Ubique's Weekly will not be written or sent out by yours truly. For September 7th's issue, I'll be handing over the reigns to my darling friend AMG (ArianaMacGyldren). Be certain not to mistake her letter for porn Spam and accidentally delete. I'm sure she'll have loads of information to share with us all.

The 5th and 6th issues on the 14th and 21st of this month will be written and sent out by my dear friend The Motor City Madpup (SN sent from currently unknown). All I can say about that is to keep a very close eye on your inboxes for anything resembling an official Ubique's Weekly newsletter. I'm sure he'll have just as much to inform us all of as AMG and myself.

Much gratitude and love to the both of you. Can't wait to read what you've whipped up when I return!

Final Thoughts

Once again we reach another grand conclusion to another Ubique's Weekly! This one was a lot more informative and lengthy than previous issues. I have all of you to thank for that. For taking the time to write me a small note to indulge upon that detailed what each of your characters have been up to while my ever-watchful eye has been lazy. Hopefully this issue has not only helped clear up some misunderstandings for everyone but has also provided you with ideas on how to work from there. I expect some exquisitely detailed future episodes in which to read about, write about, and overall enjoy.

For next week's issue, send any and all information you might like to share to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . If details haven't been worked out before then, mail your submissions for the 5th and 6th issues to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . I'd like to take a minute to thank you all for your cooperation and support of Ubique's Weekly. I'll be missing you all in the next three weeks, and I hope you'll be missing me too. I know I'll be suffering serious withdrawal symptoms from my Life Line here (aka: the Computer). Can't wait to get back into the swing of things, but most of all I can't wait for my Honeymoon! Keep my extended love with you while I'm away, and above everything... have fun!

Until our paths cross again,
