Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #7 ~ 29 September 2003 The Blurb Greetings and salutations, one and all! It's me again -- everyone's favorite, friendly, neighborhood psychopath -- the once Infamous SJ. Let me kick things off by saying how GREAT it is to be back and online again after my three week respite. It's hard to believe that I've been disconnected from my Lifeline for so long! I've missed you all. I've missed roleplaying. I've missed everything and everyone period. I'd like to take a moment in this issue to send out a grandious warm-hearted thanks to those of you who helped keep UW up and running in my absence. Much appreciation must be sent out to the Wondrous AMG for all her dedication and stick-to-itedness in writing and editing the weekly newsletter. Each issue was a fabulously entertaining read and I'm ultra-pleased about how much information was shared with everyone. If ever I am in need again, thankfully I know who I can turn to and depend on. Not just AMG, but all of you: Ubique's dedicated readers and collaborators. On that note, if anyone is interested in writing up an issue in the future, don't hesitate to let me know. It could be fun! Moving right along, I've come to a realization that all the good stuff happens on the weekends. As that is just about the only time I have free to play anymore myself, a decision has been made to move the expected delivery date of Ubique's Weekly from Sundays to Monday afternoons. If there are any objections do not hesitate to let me know. As for now, that is how things will stand.
This Just In These past few weeks of my absence have presented me with a great idea fashioned by UW's Interim Editor AMG. Following her fabulous example, all future updates will be listed in alphabetical order for the reading pleasure of all. Call me stupid for not thinking of it originally myself, but I think I'd rather call AMG a genius for taking that lead. My hats off to you, darling. Enough rambling, though. For your extended literary enjoyment, here are this week's updates: Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No sign of him in the past couple of weeks. All's quiet on the demonic front mostly. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): No news on the blue twin this week. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): This weekend provided quite an overabundance of activity and emotional devastation for Rhydin's favorite green tendress. Having been spotted as usual at the Silver Moon Inn, she spent most of her time socializing with the usual patrons, family, and friends. Yet very early Sunday morning she found herself at a dead end in relation to one of her closest known mostly as The Rev (Rev DiabIo). More details on this to come. Carmine Enrique Molinero-Gonzalez (TaciturnMerc): Having departed nearly a month ago with his partner Dris (BardGaIIant) to act as bodyguard in other lands, Carmine has not been seen for some time. The latest word on the grapevine is that his presence was momentarilly detected in the greater Dreaming during the process of the Seeding Ritual that took place Thursday morning. As to where the Spaniard is now, all leads were lost after that day. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Seems all is quiet on the angelic front as well. There has not been any sign of this particular angel in quite some time. At least not so much as our correspondants are aware. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): No news this week. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): The good Doctor was seen for a brief period of time this weekend at the Silver Moon Inn when it seems she decided to stop by for a bit of respite from her usual duties and torments. For those unaware, 'Anya has been having severe problematic issues on the romance front. Due to circumstances, she has been rather unhappy with her overall existence. Even her friend Faye (Faye Random) has reached her end when it comes to attempting to cheer her up. Hopefully all works out well in the end and we continue to see more of the good Doctor out and about. Only time will tell. Dozer (SMI Dozer): The Silver Moon Inn's new "sherrif in town" spotted earlier this week is best known as the somewhat reliable narcoleptic bouncer/tender. Not much is known yet about this particular character other than he can most likely be found asleep behind the counter. Look out. It's best to expect that if your thirsty when you visit the Silver Moon during his working hours that you'll be serving yourself. Keep an eye out for this tender. We're sure that there will be a lot more to detail about him in the future. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Our feline correspondants (Ehz's cats and their offspring) have informed us that Ehz has finally returned from her month long vacation travelling the multiverse. Tales of souvenirs and postcards have come to a halt with simply a final delivery marked "I'm back!" As to what everyone's favorite little pshycopath is up to at this point in time, it is only known that she is at home in Limbo and resting her pretty little head. As ever, we can never be too certain when she'll decide to drop in on Rhydin for a hello. Therefore it might be safe to say that we should all remain on our guard. News traveled swiftly to Limbo (on a sadder note) concerning the recent death of one of Ehz's dearest friends. Distraught, she thought at first not to show her face in Rhydin ever again. However, she did decide to drop in on the Silver Moon Inn after the tragic events of this weekend had long been over and done with. This perhaps might be the very first time Ehz has ever been publically seen unhappy. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): One of Rhydin's favorite youngsters was unfortunately the victim of assault this weekend when the Nightmare Keeper picked her as a prime target. An easy target some might say. Luckilly her mother's prayers were heard and answered. Kymeera shattered the horrendous nightmare and let the child continue the rest of her sleep in peace that night. Foxpride Xavier Langston Pepper (Rings Twice): Still up to his old tricks. Delivering mail and annoying people regularly. What's new? Fury (ReversedHaIo): No news on her, either. The angels have been mostly silent these past few weeks. She's more than likely holed up in her house as usual. Gadreel (TheGrayDeceiver): Disturbing to note that the Demon has also been rather inactive this past week. There must be some intense plots being planned. The only question is... what dasterdly deed will he come up with next? Gemethyst (Gemethyst): Witness to one of Rhydin's most traumatic events of the decade, our darling Gem has been the victim of an overabundance of empathic complications herself this past week. Aside from the suffering and anguish associated with the feeling of incapability to help a friend in need, she was also assaulted by the rememberance of a love long lost. For of all the people in the multiverse she would run into this past weekend, none other than her beloved Kakabel (Celestial Sorrow) himself decided to show his face at the Silver Moon Inn for the first time in months. News travels fast. Before leaving her for the second (if not more) time, he gave her his sword in order to hold onto until their son is capable of wielding it himself. Then, once again, Gem was left alone and feeling unloved. Poor Gem... Kakabel (CelestialSorrow): Premonitions do come true sometimes! Earlier this month we hinted at a return of the ex-fallen, and very early Sunday morning all was proven true. Hearing the anguished cry of one of his torn brothers from miles away, he traveled swiftly through the shadows to arrive at the Silver Moon Inn to see what all the commotion was about. Discovering a gruesome and heart-breaking truth of life, the ex-demon took his leave once again. As previously mentioned. Torn between love and duty, once again he chose the latter over the former. Perhaps the wrong decision, but he did what had to be done. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): Twice this weekend did the weaver of bad dreams make his appearance physically manifested in Rhydin. Plans put into motion are moving at faster speeds than this disturbed ancient fae would prefer and thusly he has made it a point to make himself more seen than usual. The most notable of his appearances this week was shortly after the historically traumatic event that has been hinted at many times in this newsletter. In brief, he took it upon himself to torment as many people as possible. Among those many was Ariana's youngest daughter Elaine and the well-known rogue elfess named Gem. Most disturbing of all, he actually displayed a small amount of kindness during his visit. What is for certain, according to our sources, is that he knows many things and seems to be reluctant to share what others would find extremely beneficial if not desirable as information. What he has up his sleeve next is anyone's guess. Lusus (HeartRottedAngel): After many previous attempts and successes in escape, the Monster has been kept on a rather tight leash since. His Keeper has been very persistent since the adjournment of the Courts to keep this third of the Child better preoccupied. A few scattered dreamers amongst the Rhydin populace of whispered about a frightening shadow passing in and out of nightly dreams, but nothing more. No real physical manifestations have been noted in quite some time. Either the Nightmare Keeper is being more successful in his job or this is merely the calm before the storm. None of our correspondents have returned from their field research for us to know. Lyssa (Lyssa Innes): No news this week. Mallora (Ma11ora): The ladies of the Temple of Love and Ecstasy (Ma11ora and daughter Va11eana) are still enjoying their respite on their home dimensional world of Valtash. It is uncertain when the family will be returning to Rhydin, but with elves when is time of any bother to consider? On a happy note, on September 11th the goddess herself gave birth to her long-expected set of triplets. The Valtashian elves can rejoice at the arrival of two healthy baby girls and one energetic baby boy. Names pending... Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): As if this poor boy hasn't been tortured enough, it seems the Fates of Rhydin have seen fit for him to suffer more trauma this past week. Yet another witness to the tragedy that we have been hinting at, Mesteno was seen in mourning as the rest of the crew at the Silver Moon Inn on Sunday morning. For the sadist, it might be considered strange to know just how much he was emotionally wounded by the events that transpired. Mithril (ASaintOfSinners): According to our sources, a premonition was revealed to the Child this weekend when for the first time in nearly a month he ran into his Watcher. Once capable, She hinted to him of a decision that was finally made by the High Courts of the fae. Apparantly, the time of rejoining with his two other parts is closing in on him fast. The news came as such a shock to him that he was uncertain what to do next. Faye was determined that Mithril would experience one last lesson on life and love and the Fate's made certain that such a thing came to pass this weekend. Also determined was the Rev, who insisted on a final lesson with Mithril to be certain that he was ready for the battle ahead. The results of this training session were devastating to the Child, as well as an assortment of other people present for the aftermath. On the rising of the Hunter's Moon, Mithril is scheduled to become whole again as the entity he once was. In essence, Gadreel is planned to be reborn. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Rei (AmethystStarfall): The unborn child created out of Gem and Kakabel's union is continuing to develop nicely. It seems even as a fetus that Rei knows his father's presence well. It will only be a matter of short time before his mother will be left taking care of an extraordinary child. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): No news this week. Robin (Robin Kalahola): No news this week. Sheridan Driscol (BardGaIIant): As far as most sources are aware, the bard is still out of town on his business venture. No word has been spread back to the greater Rhydin areas of his whereabouts or when he is expected to return home. In all consideration, certain family members have become a little worried at the lack of communication. He was to return this week with his partner Carmine (Taciturn Merc), but apparantly there has been no sign of either. Pessimistic friends and family might be anxious to wonder whether or not something unpleasant has happened to the duo. Others more optimistic would simply suspect that the project is taking a little longer than usual due to the bard's habit of perfecting all of his masterpieces in exquisite detail. Either side of the coin may be true, but not a soul knows the truth of it. Or... do they? She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): September 23rd marked the official first day of Autumn and this particular fae's most active season. Much to her satisfaction the over-lengthy Court Meetings adjourned on the 22nd, releasing her and others to finally return to previous duties. Little known to the Rhydin world, Faye celebrated the changing seasons unseen as she always does by assisting the breath of Life and flow of Time to act accordingly. It was a quick transition that allowed her twenty-four hours of rest until delving into other tasks. September 25th marked itself as the next new moon in which to continue the mating ritual she has been devoted to for the past several months. The Seeding Ritual was performed without incident, revealing the promise of only two more months of rituals yet to go. The month of October expects the enactment of the Consumption Ritual and a much more active Faye. The Autumn season is a time of activity for this particular entity. Keep your eyes peeled for more appearances. A final notation must be made in relation to the tragic events that occurred this weekend. Faye was bound to collect the lifeless body of one of Rydin's most renowned and loved people. As She Who Tends the Dead, it is only fitting that she would be charged with such a task. What is different about this situation is that this particular body was not claimed in order to destroy. Instead, this body is being kept safe and whole until such a time that it is certain it must be disposed of. Due to the amount of distress this caused many of the Rhydin residence who claim friendship and kinship to the person in question, Faye has yet to show herself solidly since. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): No news this week. However, one must be brought to wonder if he ever expected something recent to happen as it did. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): And now we bring you the most traumatic story Ubique's has ever written. On Sunday morning, Tomas Diablo, aka: the Rev ... died. He was slain by the hands of his student, the Child known as Mithril (ASaintOfSinners). Sources reveal that the cause of death was accidental murder enacted in self-defense. Desperate to not watch his teacher die, Mithril carried the body all the way back to the Silver Moon Inn in hopes that someone there would be able to raise the Rev from the dead. But this time, it was not to be. She Who Tends the Dead claimed her charge the moment the soul had fled the body in order to prevent too much tampering. It was a sad, sad day in Rhydin. This time, for the last time, the Rev irretrievably died. Friends and family mourned in sharing memories and togetherness. Is this really, truly to be the end of Tomas? Unbelievable, but it is so. Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week. Welkin: The Watcher of the Border (PolutedFirmament, TheFaeKeeper): Sources say that the Demon's Watcher has once again become tainted by the Dark forces of Hell. Beyond that, not much else is known of his whereabouts. Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): No news this week. In Other News... There are still reports of gruesome murders where the remains of the victims are left in buckets. It's noted now that the victims are being skinned and dressed as game animals would be. In a nearby jurisdiction to the Silver Moon Inn, there is another serial killer on the loose, with nearly the exact same modus operandi as the perpetrator of the SMI murder spree. In fact, the reports between both sets of cases are identical, down to the suspected weapon and wound pattern. The chief difference, however, is victim profile, which seems to consist of suspected violent criminals in the second murder spree.
