Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #8 ~ 6 October 2003

The Blurb

Happy Monday, ladies and gentleman! I really wish I could say such a thing in absolute honesty, but there have been some things going on lately that have put me in an anti-chipper mood these past twenty-four hours. Aside from being forced to work overnights this week, essentially inhibiting my availability for play-time this week, I am trying my best to keep an optimistic attitude. My brain has been a little muddled due to the time shift in my habits, but I think I can still manage to get things underway as I usually do.

This week promises a large number more updates than I think last week provided. I would like to thank everyone who contributed information to help keep the ideals of Ubique's ongoing. Due to fatigue, this week's Blurb will be cut shorter than most weeks. Creativity is generally lacking in these wee early morning hours. Hopefully everything will be just as entertaining and informative as before, but I cannot promise miracles. Let's cut right to the chase, shall we?

This Just In

Due to the overabundance of updates I was provided with this past week, it might be a bit illogical to try to cover everything in individual character blotters. What we've done this week at Ubique's is a little different. Each character will be listed as before, but instead of a myriad of miniscule details we've gone ahead and added a new section that covers the major stories of the week in one conglommerated headline. Our hope is that this provides a more organized understanding of the events that transpired during the week. So let's get this show on the road.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): He has not been seen in some time. How can he be doing anything BUT plotting something?

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): No news this week.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): Once again the green sister posed as witness to several catastrophic events that erupted throughout Rhydin this past week. Check our Headlines for more details.

Carmine Enrique Molinero-Gonzalez (TaciturnMerc): He is being good to Dris right now and making sure that he is comfortable, but at the same time trying hard not to hover over him like a nervous hen. Carmine has a bad habit doing this and he knows it. Check our Headlines for more details.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): No news this week.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): No news this week.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): No news this week.

Dozer (SMI Dozer): No news this week.

Duncan J. Harper (Duncan J Harper): Ah ah ah... that would be telling... and my mother always brought me up knowing that a good boy doesn't kiss and tell. But don't worry... I'm horrible with secrets.

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): This past week has shown no visible sign of Rhydin's favorite, friendly, neighborhood psychopath. What our sources tell us, however, is that she has been increasingly busy scouring her networks in search of something very important. What that something is, not even our researchers can determine. But it is known that she has recently purchased additional land coverage of her many "cameras" throughout the multiverse. This important something must be very difficult to find. Knowing Ehz, it could be just about anything.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine is the most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse. That is all.

Foxpride Xavier Langston Pepper (Rings Twice): Same old, same old.

Fury (ReversedHaIo): The ever popular Fury hasn't been seen in weeks. Her house is locked up tight and the lights aren't on. So where is Ms. Pissy and Petulant? Well. That's part of the mystery, isn't it?

Gadreel (TheGrayDeceiver): No news should be good news, but in Ubique's opinions waver. Our reporters have turned up missing in relation to this particular entity. It leaves us all to wonder what foul deeds Gadreel has in store for us this week since there is nothing to be known of him since last.

Gemethyst (Gemethyst): There has been a lot happening to the poor hunted Gem this past week. Stalked left and right by would-be suitors, lustful stalkers, and just plain bad-buys, her life is a never-ending surge of excitement and intrigue. For all the details, check this week's Headlines.

Kakabel (CelestialSorrow): Since last we heard of him, the Prince of Stars has gone missing. The last our sources were aware, Kakabel went off in search across the greater planes for his long dead son. The question is, where precisely did he go? Even more, will he ever return for good? Only time will tell.

Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): Earlier in the week Kymeera made an apperance at the Red Dragon Inn to pay a visit to the one and only Gemethyst. What first seemed to be yet another "haunt and annoy the living crap out of Gem" session, eventually turned out to be a meeting to reveal important future intentions of the High Courts. For reasons even the Dream Warden will not reveal, it seems that Gem has been chosen to be imparted with knowledge on the behalf of certain people she calls friends. What is Kymeera really up to, we wonder?

Lusus (HeartRottedAngel): You'd think that with his Keeper off delivering messages that the Monster would have taken the opportunity to escape and wreak more havoc on Rhydin. However, that is not the case. Just as his counterpart the Demon, Lusus has been keeping himself virtually invisible this week. There has been no sign of him. Can this mean that things are actually going according to plan for once? Are all three parts of Gadreel afraid of what the future has in store for them?

Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week.

Matriel (Rarefied Rain): Matriel was seen in the inn briefly. She gave Gem the revelation that the time when Tom was slain, ANN was on the fritz somehow and it caught even heaven by surprise.

Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Yet another witness to the many catastrophic events that have ravaged Rhydin this past week. There are no direct detailed news about Mesteno this week, but he has been involved. To find out more, check this week's Headlines.

Mithril (ASaintOfSinners): Mithril is prowling about, trying to keep himself together. He is very angry with what Tom did, seeing it as a sort of "suicide by cop" deal. He does not understand this at all and since Tom has been suicidal in the past, he feels that he was used to kill him off. Between his anger, his guilt, and his fear he has been most rude lately to everyone, especially his friends.

He has also been accused of holding Tom's soul within him. He denied this but was annoyed enough to play along and do a few things that were Tom-like such as drinking Blue and pulling a purple handkerchief out of his pocket. If this rumor is true or not remains to be seen.

Ophelia (EspressoBlues): Ophelia and Ra have recently returned from their vacation and are now just resting from it. They had a blast.

Rei (AmethystStarfall): Still developing nicely

Rekah (Rekah Dravina): She's finally back from the high seas! With a few more sea shells to add to her collection she's back in Rhy'din to cause more merry fun! After all, the bewitching girl-child knows more than she lets on. She'll be out and about here in the next few weeks.

Robin (Robin Kalahola): No news this week.

Sheridan Driscol (BardGaIIant): Since his return home earlier this week, Dris has been keeping himself mostly hidden away. His recently ended business venture did not at all go according to planned. He made an appearance at the Silver Moon Inn on Sunday morning when he really should have remained at home resting. Bearing witness to one of the most insane episodes to assault the 'Moon, he did not stick around long to see the outcome. For more details check out our Headlines.

She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): For most of the days in the past couple of weeks, Faye has been hidden away. Since claiming the Rev's (Rev DiabIo) body, she has refused audience with any of her friends and "family" in Rhydin. Keeping herself reclused and unnoticed. However, due to recent events she was forced out of her hiding places to confront the world again. For more information, check out this week's Headlines.

Suriel (Thirteenthchange): Suriel was seen earlier this week tending bar at the Silver Moon Inn. He mostly observed the patrons with a detached sort of fascination as they went about their daily lives. A conversation between Ariana and Shun caught his interest as they discussed what it is to exist on and on while watching those you care about slip away and leave you behind.

The Rev (Rev DiabIo): For the most part he has remained very much dead. Depending on your definition of the word "dead" this is true. However, there has been quite a lot going on that involves the recently departed Rev. For full details check out our Headlines.

Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week.

Welkin: The Watcher of the Border (PolutedFirmament, TheFaeKeeper): The Demon's Keeper made an appearance earlier this week at the Red Dragon Inn's Keep to pay a violent visit to Gem (Gemethyst). It is fully clear now that he has become completely emmersed in the Darkness of Hell's power. Clear in how his sole driving force in existence seems to be causing Gem pain. Be it physical, mental, or emotional. Promising that her unborn child would be his and his master's some day, he made short work of his ominous visit. For the full details, see our Headlines.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): No news this week.

Headlines

The Trio & the Fairy Courts: For the entire past month, the representatives of the High Fae Courts have kept mostly to themselves. In returning to the material world prime of Rhydin, it was revealed earlier this month that their absences were due to a hearing that was called into session concerning what is to be done about Mithril and his other two thirds. Last week Faye revealed to her charge Mithril that by the turning of the Hunter's Moon he and his two missing halves were to be reunited as one again. This revelation brought about the demise of The Good Reverend Tomas by Mithril's very own hands. Since then Mithril has been emotionally and mentally torn into pieces. While his two thirds have simply gone into seclusion. The Hunter's Moon is basically this month's new moon, which is scheduled to rise early Friday morning (October 10th, 2003). Apparantly Mithril and his thirds have very little time left to prepare.

In relation to these findings, there has been quite an overabundance of fae Prime Material manifistation activity going on within the city and its reaches. The Demon Keeper Welkin paid Gem a visit Monday afternoon at the Red Dragon Inn Keep in hopes to steal her unborn child from her before being obliterated by the Reunion of the thirds. Before taking his leave a portion of his old pure side shined through to warn Gem that if the Demon is not dealt with to free the Watcher of the Border before the time of the Reunion then he will surely cease to exist. The following day, Kymeera paid Gem a visit in the very same place to stress to her the importance of heeding Welkin's warning. Should the Reunion occur before Welkin is again free then he is doomed to die.

The Good Reverend Tomas: As the whole of Rhydin is mostly well-aware, our dear friend Tom has been deceased for a week now. A great number of odd occurrences have transpired since that time. Among these have been strange sightings of a spiritually etheral Ghost Tom who has shown up as a memory to the friends and family who mourn him. He appears in dreams and even in the real world from time to time as a reminder of hope that perhaps some day Tom will return to us.

That hope was shattered one not so fine evening when a cult known as the Followers of Echt somehow managed to steal Tom's body from She Who Tends the Dead completely from underneath her nose. At a loss, She visited Lucky (Lucien Mal) at the Red Dragon Inn in a hope of at least putting minds to rest. After informing him of the death of his friend, she suprisingly caught wind of the scent of Tom's corpse. Furious outraged that a body could be lost, Lucky demanded Faye to do something. Following the scent, the only thing she could think to do was bring Lucky with her in hopes of reclaiming that which was stolen from her.

Lucky and Faye found themselves transported into the inner sanctum of a Temple devoted to the not-well-known goddess Echt. Here the two battled thousands of followers with the goal of resuing Tom's body. To their dismay, they discovered that the worshippers had raised Tom's body to use as their own personal golem of sorts. After diminishing the numbers of the congregation greatly, Lucky and Faye were forced to retreat.

Later that day the golem Tomas then known by another name entirely stormed into the Silver Moon Inn with the sole intent of destroying all those in its path that it referred to as "infidels." A great number of Tom's friends tried their best to destroy the abomination until in the end Fate favored them and the body was completely destroyed. This unfortunately presented itself as the last destruction of all hope that Tomas would one day return to his friends and family. Among those present to battle and bear witness to the abomination and catastrophe were Mesteno, Twelve, Toho, Dris, and a few passersby. This was also the last that Rhydin has seen of Faye in some time.

After the destruction of the abomination, the memory spirit of Tomas persisted in haunting the Silver Moon Inn to keep Ariana company early that morning. Also among the visitors was a little girl who seemed to know more than she should about the spirit memory of Tom. She gave to Ariana a phantom teddy bear that she said would help Ariana share her happy memories of Tom to others. Could this possibly be a new line of hope that some day Tom will return to us?

The Hmte Invasion: Hmte, the sentient giant ant colony, is going into hibernation for a while. Mithril successfully attacked the nursery, the room in which the eggs and larvae are nurtured on Sunday night. Hmte's first reaction was to withdraw all its bodies back to its nest to purge the nest of all creatures not itself in an orgy of violence. In the days since then, however, except for a wave of much smaller and rather innocuous giant ants - about a foot long, pale in color, and apparently harmless - there has been no activity of an significance. There have been no reports of anyone entering the nest since then and getting out alive...

The SMI Murders: The SMI copycat murders have ceased. The bucket murders continue. There are reports of employees of the SMI receiving threatening letters demanding they join an unnamed party or meet the consequences. So far the new sheriff is the first to receive such threats. Dozer believes it might be a prank being played by some of the other more experienced employees.

Odd Occurrences: In the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, Terr (Terrance Tomar) and Toho (XPriestTohoX) were witness to an odd apparition - the grikkyn Twelve entered in pieces, both legs and both right arms missing. He had clearly been in a terrible battle, but the big news was who he insisted had done the damage - according to his account, it was Parhi Grimjaws who had vivisected him cruelly before disappearing into the Nexus. Given that Parhi and Twelve are friends and colleagues, this has some rather unpleasant implications. (Parhi and Twelve are both played under the SN The Multifarious.)

A Business Venture Turned Bad: Dris (BardGaIIant) and Carmine (Taciturn Merc) recently returned from their much-delayed business venture earlier this week with quite a story to tell. So far, none of Rhydin's more known populace have been informed of what has transpired. However, certain clues leading to the facts have been left floating around. One thing is for certain, Dris has been seen rather out of sorts around town and favoring his back as if in great pain. Terry (Terrance Tomar) and Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno) both witnessed this during the great abomination catastrophe that shook the Silver Moon Inn this weekend, but the bard detailed nothing of the situation other than to be careful not to touch his back. From what our sources have gathered, it appears that Carmine and Dris were very lucky to make it back to Rhydin alive. Between the two of them, Dris apparantly suffered punishment due to an extreme misunderstanding. One that insulted the local duke and nearly had the bard losing his head instead of just some of the flesh from his back. Neither Carmine nor Dris have been very willing to tell the whole story just yet, but perhaps in the future we at Ubique's will have all the details for you.
