Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #9 ~ 13 October 2003 The Blurb This week's Ubique's comes out to you all a little later in the day than preferred. Unfortunately the editor here has been very busy with real life issues and has been unable to spend very much time working on the newsletter. However, she spent extra time this morning to work out all the kinks and get everything sent out to you. Updated. Etcetera, etcetera... As always we hope that this week's issue is as enjoyable and informative as the last. Due to the overabundance of player collaborations and character crossovers, we here at Ubique's have taken some time to reconsider our previous issues and ponder how one might possibly improve upon our exploits. After many short minutes of consideration, the decision was made to do a little housecleaning in our editing department. Looking over past issues we've realized just how much information we're sending out weekly. Quite a load for our readers to skim through logically. Therefore we've revamped and reorganized to give to you a cleaner, easier to logically follow newsletter. It is our hope that these small alterations provide our readers with more mentally processing comfort than our past issues might have. With that said, let us get on with the program to this week's Headlines.
This Just In As previously mentioned, there has been some reconstruction going on. To follow a more logical and less sporadic guideline for newsletter publication, two of our sections have been switched around a bit. This alteration maintains the same title structure of our many sections, but has changed This Just In from character overviews to our more compact and in depth storyline breakthrough Headlines. We thought it might provide a more smooth flow of reading material to read overviews first and individual character details second. Assuming this to be true, we hope that you enjoy this week's... Headlines The Trio & the Fairy Courts Part II: The scheduled Reconvergence Ritual between the severed thirds of Gadreel went off without a hitch this weekend. On the night of the full moon, all three parts gathered together in the Deep Dreaming to carry out the grand plan of reforming three into one. With the "death" of Welkyn, the mysterious and aloof tigress fae known as Tigré (SilentCourser)Elaborate Guns stepped up to take her place as the Demon Gadreel's Keeper. As before, Faye remained Mithril's Keeper and Kymeera remained the Monster Lusus' Keeper. Under the watchful and hidden eyes of the High Courts, the ritual progressed. It is strange to note that the High Courts permitted certain mortals to be present for the observation of this particular ceremony. Perhaps it was predicted that moral support would be beneficial in the continued success of the ordeal. Among those present to watch and add their support were Gem (Gemethyst), Jade (Irreverent Jade), Randall (Elaborate Guns), and strangely the fae enchanted memory of The Rev (Rev DiabIo). Without interuption, the ceremony acted as it should and was successful in converging the three split parts into one solid entity once again. It was a learning experience for the demon Gadreel, that is for certain. Our sources proclaim that the now whole demon still fancies referring to himself as Mithril. That could be a good sign or a bad sign, depending on how the majority views it. The Madwoman's Mindboggling Discovery: In the early evening hours of Friday, Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas barged into the Red Dragon Inn Keep by way of her usual method (through the closet door) with an exciting announcement she felt needed to be shared with everyone. Suprisingly enough, everyone present actually seemed to listen to what she had to say. Gem (Gemethyst), Bekah (Maeralin), Miles (Miles V Malign), and a mysterious woman named Mestrangelo (Mesterangelo) were just a few of the many witnesses to the scene. All of them were mostly attentive to the many rambling words Ehz had to share with the whole of Rhydin (or at least the parts of it who were at the Keep that night). Apparantly, through the resources Ehz refers to as the Intertransdimensional Multiuniversal Cable Company (or what Ehz calls her Network), she has discovered the whereabouts of The Reverend Tomas Diablo (Rev DiabIo). Or as Ehz calls him, Tommy. So excited by her findings, she failed to recall the knowledge the rest of Rhydin seems to be sharing with each other that Tom is very much quite dead. Ehz, however, is very persistent that while he is dead he is not in fact dead at all. So the mystery continues. Is The Rev really dead? Or is there actually a hope (however fleeting knowing the crazed Ehz) that he will come back to life? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain. Two very crazy cats are on the case. Ehz took the liberty to recruit the Postman (Rings Twice) to help her with her rescue mission. Who knows? Maybe two wrongs make a right? The Double Parhi Experience (or Parhi Squared): Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious) has been acting truly strange lately. Turns out there is another Parhi; identical to the first, except that she wears darker, spiked leather armor rather than the first Parhi's lighter studded leather, and she is evil as sin. She rides a diabolical black unicorn, cares nothing for charity or courtesy, and is obsessed with murder - in particular the murder of the first Parhi, for reasons that remain unclear. It appears that Ariana might have a piece of the puzzle in the form of a fragment of the 'dark' Parhi's journal, but of course 'light' Parhi must survive the others spectacular magical power and physical superiority long enough to find a solution. Several witnesses at the Silver Moon Inn this weekend were absolutely baffled by the revelation that there are now two Parhi's wandering about Rhydin. We here at Ubique's can only hope that this solution is found very soon. What can we say? We want to be able to be certain that there's a "light" Parhi to be sharing some ale with from time to time. Instead of that grumpy hag that happens to be posing as a friend of many. The Bard's Bad Business Venture Revealed: During one of his many visits to the 'Moon this week, Dris (BardGaIIant) finally managed to run into his adoptive mother Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren). There was a lot of catching up to do between the two of them, and after a short while Ariana managed to drag the entire story of Dris and Carmine's business vacation out of the bard. Which, all things considered, was not a very difficult thing to do. It turns out that during their trip, the daughter of the Duke whom Dris was crafting a grand piano for feel in love with the bard. Demanding a marriage and all that rot. The short of the long is basically the fact that Dris refused and insulted the Duke and his family by denying a marriage between himself and the Duke's daughter. This lead to a punishment of fifty whip lashings to the craftsman's back, which in turn enraged the overprotective Carmine (Taciturn Merc). Which followed with the two of them revealing their true relationship. Which inspired the Duke to order a beheading for them both for insulting the family even more. Luckilly, regardless of his infected and fevered injuries, the two of them managed to escape and make their way back home. Now, Dris takes this all a little too lightly. No matter what the bard can't seem to take anything seriously. Even though he is still suffering the pains of injuries most men his age wouldn't have been able to survive. All in all, he's recovering well and is enjoying himself as he always does. But we're sure Carmine (Taciturn Merc) has a different version of this story to tell. The New Kid At the Moon: With all the strange occurrences in Rhydin these days, it is strange to note that there have been many new faces popping in and out of the Silver Moon Inn on occassion. Of these most memorable has been the arrival of an unattended, unchaperoned five-year-old girl who until now has remained quite nameless. After the events of the Reconvergence Ceremony, Mithril (ASaintOfSinners) and a few of his friends decided to go out for a drink at the 'Moon. Not too terribly surprising to the reformed demon was the arrival of the mysterious little Goldilocks blonde. On only one other occassion before then, the little girl was spotted in the company of a "ghost" very much resembling the recently deceased Reverend Tomas (Rev DiabIo). It has been noted that she refers to this image of a memory as "Teddy Bear." And on this night the situation was no different. It must be noted, however, that up until now this child has remained nameless. Through the interrogative efforts of the woman known as Vee (WhiteRose0088), this child finally revealed her name and identity to the Rhydin community. Apparantly this child is known as Revari (KaleidoscopeWhim). To those familiar with fae society, she seems to be a high ranking and powerful entity known to be the spirit of memories and happy dreams. In the High Courts she is referred to as The Dream Weaver. Well known as the counterpart to The Dream Warden or Nightmare Keeper. Light and Shadow in two entirely different spectrums. Precisely what it is she is doing here in Rhydin is not entirely known. However, it seems that part of her mission is to ensure that friends and family alike do not forget the once existence of the Good Reverend Tomas (Rev DiabIo). Kymeera (TheDreamWarden) has hinted at the fact that his "better half" will be playing an important role in future events, but just like the rest of the fae he has remained rather cryptic on the specifics. We here at Ubique's can at least say that here we have another mystery to unravel... In Other News... In sync with the previous alteration the flip around has change this section over from Headlines to our new individual character overviews section. Everything that has not been covered in our This Just In Headlines can be found here instead. Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): Rumor has it that he is rather pleased with the fact that Mithril has taken it upon himself to destroy the cult of Echt and even the god that the cult is based on. Why would this please Ahriman? He is definitely not telling. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and their two year old son Brion, helped celebrate her niece Elaine's tenth birthday this past week. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister has been tending to family business and the bakery most of the week and as a consequence, staying out of the Silver Moon Inn. One of her Home cousins, Cassandra (TheCrashingWavez) decided to come visit Rhydin this week. Cassandra's presence promises to cause Ariana headaches. Ariana celebrated her youngest daughter Elaine's tenth birthday on October 6th. During one of her rare visits to the Silver Moon this past week, the green tendress also learned a lot of details about what happened to Dris (BardGaIIant) while he was away with Carmine (Taciturn Merc). Carmine (TaciturnMerc): Carmine is glad to be home and has recovered from the recent misadventure he and Dris had. He is now quite busy getting the place ready for the arrival of his son. He even has the first part of his name picked out. Salvador. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Cassiel (along with his fellow angels Anael and Uriel) was recently rescued from the summoner thanks to the actions of Mithril, Vadriel, Gem, and Mesteno. The other two angels gave their quick thanks and departed, but Cassiel remained behind with his beloved Vadriel and has been taking it as easy as much as a busy angel of Heaven is allowed. Cassiel's Servants (AHeavenlyElement): They are quite overjoyed to have Cassiel back. They were trying to keep up with Cassiel's duties as best as they could, but were not having an easy time of it. Cassiel has quite a workload waiting for him when he returns. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred woman in black is still investigating various crime sprees, including a long-running series of atrocities performed on children. These investigations have kept Rachael busy and therefore she hasn't ventured out in public much lately. Dris (BardGaIIant): Earlier this week, Dris finally revealed the whole story of what really happened on his business venture to his adoptive mother Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren). Spending most of his insomnia induced waking hours at the 'Moon, he has had quite a bit of time to reveal more information than he would in absolute honesty to anyone. Aside from finally getting a weight off his shoulders, he spent a bit of time in a verbal battle with the newly rejoined Mithril (ASaintOfSinners) early Saturday morning. Dris has always been a bit baffled by this kid, but the faster he aged it seems the more Dris has become annoyed with him entirely. Since that morning he has been spending more and more of his sleepless hours at home with his beloved Carmine (Taciturn Merc). Both have been very busy preparing the way for the arrival of the Spaniard's son, but Dris of course has been less enthusiastic about the entire endeavor day by day. As opposed to Carmine who has been thrilled and anxious since the start. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): The good Doctor was out of town this past week. There's no word on where she's gone, why, or when she will return. Duncan (Duncan J Harper): Our sources have been working overtime trying to acquire as much information as possible on this most elusive Rhydin anomaly ever since last week's unauthorized addition to the paper. I would like to take this time to apologize for the outburst. As editor, I am usually able to catch these sort of errors. However, with our chief copy editor found slumped over the machine with handprints around his neck, this one managed to slip past us. So far a number of Ubique's reporters have turned up tramautically lobotomized or just plain missing. One somewhat fortunate researcher did return to our offices recently, however. When questioned of his findings, we were unfortunately addressed with this crazed statement, "Harper? Har-per? Yeah. I know a Harper. You want me to tell you? Well I would, but my mother always raised me to be the sort of boy who doesn't kiss and tell." Then he broke into a fit of hysterical laughter as our local doctors fixed him into a straight jacket. To the best of our knowledge, his last words were the repetitive line, "The press keeps no secrets, but you'll never get any from me!" Field agents are still searching, but lately Ubique's has been finding less and less volunteers to cover this particular story. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Our sources tell us that Ehz has been quite the busy little secluded bee lately. Since her discovery of The Rev's whereabouts in the Outer Reaches of Limbo, she has been working long and hard on ways to bring him "back to life." First and foremost she aims to bring him back to the Inner Reaches of Limbo at least. She did this by having the Postman deliver a package to the wayward spirit. Hopefully Tommy gets his flare gun and knows what to do with it. Let's just say that she has been so busy that not even the minions of Hell are having a very easy time tracking her down. She's quick like that. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): The most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse turned ten on October 6th. Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): On the night of the Hunter's Moon, Faye made her first appearance to mortal eyes since She has made in a very long time. It was on this night that Mithril (ASaintOfSinners) was predicted to reunite with his other two thirds. And as her duty claims for her, Faye was there to ensure the safety of Mithril in the Reunion. Since that time there has not been any sign of her whereabouts. With Gadreel's triple reunion from three into one, Faye is no longer bound to the Child that was. Now left to her own devices as she previously was, She has kept herself very secluded from the outside world. Our sources presume that She is keeping herself very preoccupied with the work still left involved with the creating of her and Carmine's child. The next scheduled ritual will take place on October 25th with the rising of the next new moon. Here she will give Carmine his next task before the final Dance marked to take place next month. The Imbuing Ritual is said to be the most difficult portion of mixed species mating rituals to be performed. Good luck, Spaniard. Foxpride Xavier Langston Pepper (Rings Twice): Aside from his usual deliveries, it seems that Rhydin's favorite Limbonian postman has been recruited for a new task in his career. Fury (ReversedHaIo): She's still gone with no sign of returning any time soon. Gadreel (TheGrayDeceiver): Gadreel finally got the revenge he has been seeking on Kakabel for these many centuries as well as revenge on Welkyn for getting in his way. He confronted Kakabel just after he had rescued the spirit of his son and there was quite the battle between the two. Sadly, Gadreel was the winner in this battle and through the use of arcane and forbidden magics threw Kakabel into a temporal void, and destroyed the pathway leading to the void, making escape impossible. Worse yet, he consumed and destroyed Welkyn as part of this process, stealing the poor fae's power and using it to fuel this foul deed. Is Kakabel gone forever or merely adrift in stasis in a timeless void until some future date? Is Welkyn's demise a permanent one or is there some way that the faerie will be reborn? And what of the spirit of Kakabel's firstborn that he had just managed to rescue? Did he escape or did Gadreel recapture him? It just remains to be seen. Gadreel's Servants (AInfernalElement): Gadreel has quite the assortment of mortal and infernal thralls at his beck and call. Most of them had been adrift doing their own thing and causing all manner or mischief and mayhem while Gadreel was weakened to a third of his power. However, recently they have all been called back into active service and thrust firmly under Gadreel's yoke. What dark plans he has in the future that they will help with is yet unknown Gem (Gemethyst): Poor Gem and her love affairs. In just the past two weeks she has tumbled from being with Grant to being without Grant. There has also been some business of being "consumed" by an entity known as Gabreal. We really don't want to imagine what this "consumed" business is all about, but our sources keep telling us not to be so very sick-minded. It's just a little flesh-devouring fetish that one of her friends has or something. Really. Other than being one of many witnesses to the Reunion of Gadreel and his other parts, we cannot really say that much has been going on with Gem lately. But we're sure there'll be news, news, and more news very soon. Kakabel (CelestialSorrow): What can we say other than the fact that he's gone. Yes. Very much gone. After learning of the safety of his lost son's spirit, Kakabel went off in search of the long dead Jared's soul in the hopes of seeking final ammends before his reascension into the heavens. A mission successful, he and his son's spirit traveled back towards Heaven in hopes of reinstating an innocent child to the gracious mercy of the Lord. Much to his surprise, Kakabel was ambushed by his still fallen brother Gadreel (TheGrayDeceiver). Normally the Stargazer would have been able to take on his brother and defeat him, but this time proved to have given the Deceiver the upper hand. By way of a tainted and powerful fae by the name of Welkyn. Using Welkyn's corrupt energies, Gadreel created a temporal void and trapped Kakabel within. Before the Stargazer could blink the gate was closed and sealed, leaving him locked for eternity in an empty and silent prison of solitude. With no way of communicating with the outside world and no way for anyone to communicate to him within, it appears taht Kakabel is eternally lost to one and all. Where precisely is he? Is there any chance of finding him and bringing him back to the human world? All we know for certain is that he is most assuredly gone. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): Since recent events that have taken place, Kymeera has reformed his Nighmarescape into the dream realm he once remembered. The realm it has always been and is eternally meant to be. During the time that he had visitors to his realm, Kymeera adopted his true fae sight form as best as he's known in the dreaming. Encompassing all those features combined of every child and adult's worst nightmares, a small group of onlookers present for the Reforming of the three into one (The Trio and the Fairy Courts) became the very first sets of mortal eyes to witness the vision that is the Horror Kymeera. Using his latest gift imparted to him by the newly formed Gadreel, the Nightmare Keeper has been extremely joyfully busy tending to his charges. Children didn't start calling him the Boogie Man for nothing. Lusus (HeartRottedAngel): He has redecorated Kymeera's (TheDreamWarden)nightmare realm to resemble a dark and withered garden. Twisted trees, poisonous plants, dangerous animals, and a pall of gloom make up the area. In the center of the garden are two fruit bearing trees and positioned about the trees is an immense crimson and black six winged serpent that shines with an unsettling blood red aura. The serpent is posing in an infinity posture with his tail caught within its mouth. This serpent is none other than Lusus who has adopted Gadreel's true demonic form. Mallora (Ma11ora): Mommy and litter of three are doing very well. They are expected to return to the Rhydin temple from Valtash sometime in the very near future. All is well with the Camale clan at this point in time. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): She has been busy bringing rain to those that need it and not been seen in Rhy'din. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): No news this week. Mithril (ASaintOfSinners): Mithril has not been seen in some time as he has decided that his final act before becoming Gadreel again will be to avenge the desecration of Tom's body by eradicating the cult that was responsible along with annihilating the deity that is behind the cult. So far he has kept his presence hidden from the cult and is working on sabatouge, internal destruction, and strife of the highest degree. He is making ninjas look like obvious and clumsy fools. Will he continue with this quest when he becomes wholly Gadreel again? That future is uncertain. On a more pleasant note, he finally was able to call a truce to his inner war he had with the lawyer, Lucky (Lucien Mal). He interviewed Lucky to get as much information as possible about the cult and agreed to Lucky's terms that he would destroy this cult, leaving not a single survivor behind. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): Ever since Ehz had enchanted the portable television that is kept in the coffee shop, it has occasionally switched itself on and gave out mysterious newsflashes about what is going on in the world. It is through this television that Ophelia has learned of Tom's death. Furthermore her jukebox seems to have developed a mind of its own and sends out messages to patrons in the bar by playing eerily appropriate songs that echo the situation they might be experiencing. Could all of this be more of Ehz's doing, or has the coffee shop simply become haunted? Rei (AmethystStarfall): Rei has been letting his mother know about his presence every now and then. There is a good chance that the baby already has an extreme fondness for coffee considering how much Gem has been drinking lately. Rei also seems rather fond of vanilla ice cream and root beer. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): She's busy planning a birthday party for herself, and Claire, Ana, etc. et al... (Note: Her SN is now BIackTideRising). Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): Apparantly the High Courts have not run out of minions to send out into the real world or Rhydin. Just recently this weekend the name of this particular entity was learned during a visit to the Silver Moon Inn. Just what it is she is doing here in Rhydin is anyone's guess, but there have been a few hints dropped here and there. What is known is that she seems to be the focal point for the vision known as Teddy Bear Tom. A ghost memory of the once Rev who has been sighted "haunting" the 'Moon and surrounding areas. Whenever Revari is around, it is generally a certainty that the Memory Tom will be too. Our sources claim that Revari appears in the guise of a very sleepy Goldilocks blonde girl dressed similar to Alice from a famous Lewis Carrol novel, appearing to be no more than five-years-old, and generally clutching a very tattered and filthy teddy bear who must've once seen better days. Whenever her friend the Teddy Bear makes himself visible, the teddy bear in her arms mysteriously disappears. It is suspected that there is an obvious connection there. The biggest give away that she is not as young as she seems is the fact that she carries a large vocabulary. Robin (Robin Kalahola): No news this week. Sal (SN Pending): Ripples in the waves between time and space have started to form concerning the future existence of this newborn-to-be. There are only two more rituals to be preformed in the grand scheme of things between Carmine and Faye. On the turn of Winter the rituals will be complete, but just when Rhydin will see this new child bloom is another story entirely. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): Back to work for this busy archangel. People keep dying and he will always be there to help them on their journey to the next world. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): Still very much dead. Or is he? Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week. Valleana (Va11eana): Vall has returned to Rhydin to prepare the temple for the return of the High Mistress and her children. Welkyn: The Watcher of the Border (PolutedFirmament, TheFaeKeeper): Over the many weeks and endless days, the Demon's Keeper has become so immersed in the Darkness that he was a part of that the eventuality finally became an inescapable reality. In a last ditch effort to prove himself the Multiverse's most powerful badass, Gadreel (TheGrayDeceiver) used the tainted fae to enact his most glorious revenge on his brother Kakabel ever. As previously mentioned, somehow Gadreel managed to use the tainted fae's own ethereal energies to open a gateway into a temporal void. In essence, tossing in his dear brother Kakabel, closing the door, sealing it shut, and forever throwing away the key by swallowing Welkyn's essence. According to the rest of the fae society, Welkyn has become forever snuffed out of existence. He is simply no more. But who is to say what is eternal in this sporadic world of Rhydin? Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He was spotted at the marketplace buying a stick of butter, a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, and five dozen eggs. It was not until after he was long gone that the merchant realized that he was paid in gold painted poker chips. What Yoshi is making is anyone's guess, and most would just shudder to think about the amount of cholesterol it has. Final ThoughtsKeep in mind that most of the information provided within these pages should be considered as Out of Character knowledge. Now I don't really think any of you are that dense, but just in case it might be a good idea to inform all of you now. Out of Character knowledge is that sort of vital chracter and storyline knowledge that only YOU (the player) should know. It should never be assumed to be knowledge that your characters would know or be able to get ahold of unless certain circumstances apply. I'm pretty sure most of you understand that those certain circumstances fall under the categories of those things your characters experienced personally in play. Always, always check with the player of another character before considering to use such information to your own storyline advantage. It's not just the right thing to do, but it's also a common curtesy that everyone appreciates. Aside from that, just remember that the deadline for submissions is always the Sunday before the next expected delivery of the most recent edition of Ubique's Weekly. Comments, questions, updates, additions, announcements, advertisements, etcetera are always welcome for every issue.
