Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #13 ~ 10 November 2003 The Blurb Good morning, ladies and gentleman. Please accept my utmost apologies for the late delivery of this week's Ubique's. The editor has been suffering some minor mental and physical setbacks as of late, but it's nothing too severe to be too terribly worried about. Actually, I'm somewhat glad that I delayed this week's edition (nevermind the fact that it was purely unintentional). The delay awarded us with a handful more updates than I think I would have received if this had been sent out on time. Since I'm still trying to reconnect myself with the current reality (Rhydin included), I hope you don't mind that I skip most of the flowery hints in prose form that have a tendency to show up in the Blurb. With not so much time on my hands this week, I think it'd be best that we get straight down to business.
This Just In Unfortunately, most of this week's issue focusses on individual character updates. Not very many overall stories were sent in to the editing desk this week, but that does not mean we are without Headlines. Chances are there are stories to create even from the small bits of knowledge that I receive. Keeping that in mind, let's see what I've cooked up for your reading pleasure this week. Headlines Feline Invasion: Old news becomes recent news. Back around the time of Easter, Ehz's (Ehzoterik) two Limbonian felines rejoiced at the birth of a litter of seven. Mother Paste was very happy that all of her children survived and lived on to find homes for themselves out int he vast wide world of Rhydin. Every last kitten claimed him or herself a person to own them, and over the past few months they have grown considerably. The first born claimed Ariana MacGyldren as her person, but later discovered that it was her daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua) who needed a companion instead. Empress Emerald of Grayfur (EmpressGrayfur) has been seen from time to time at the Silver Moon Inn in the company of Rhydin's most adorable ten-year-old. There have been other worldly sightings as well. The missing fallen angel Kakabel (CelestialSorrow) discovered himself to be the choice owner of a Limbo kitten as well, much to his dismay. With his absence, the haughty gray and white Balinese blue-point has been spotted in Gem's (Gemethyst) company on occassion. The mysterious Pleione (StellarBalinese) enjoys her nightly street stalkings and starlight gazings in hopes that some day her man will return to these realms. Another celestial resident was chosen as keeper to a particular regal feline by the name of Lady Calypso Proudfoot (Lady Proudfoot, we presume). Cassiel's pet has been spotted on occassion, but keeping up with an angel is no easy task. Among the most frequently spotted is strangely the black and white tuxedo runt who was not-so-affectionately named Mozart (Amadaeus Felidae). Having made himself well at home as Carmine's (Taciturn Merc) pet calculating cat, he has spent quite a lot of time tormenting Dris (BardGaIIant) as often as possible. We have yet to see any sightings of the three other Limbonian cats, but chances are that they may spring up at any time if they are as sociable as their brothers and sisters. Just be careful which feline you're chasing away with a broom, my fellow Rhydinians. New Phobia?: Small, pale ants have been sighted in various places. They have caused no damage or injury; they just scurry out from under things, and run away. Back to Hmte. Falling from the pages of one of our past top stories, it's a wonder that the whole of Rhydin hasn't acquired a new and overwhelming fear of ants. We'll keep you posted if anything takes a turn for the worst, but until then Rhydinians might want to look into keeping aardvarks as pets. In Other News... With little to no fanfare, here are this week's Character Updates! Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): Rumor has it that he has an item in possession that he has been after for quite some time. What this exactly is or what he plans to do with it is unknown. The reporter that found out this much is unfortunately in a straight jacket and babbling incoherently in a nice, quiet sanitarium so further details are not forthcoming. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister continues to tend to house and home along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and their two year old son Brion Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister has been tending to family business and the bakery most of the week. Among the events she witnessed this past week are the return of her brother Donatello (DonatelIo Harada) and sister in law Syd (SmileFang) to the Silver Moon Inn, firing of certain SMI staff members by Management, meeting Management's Right Arm (SMI Axe) and performing the marriage of Anorlas (AnorIas) and Nikki (Nicole E Brock). Her son Banshee (Banshee Aqua) also celebrated his birthday on the 7th this month. Ariana continues to worry about her daughter Elaine's nightmares. Carmine (TaciturnMerc): He is getting ready for the Dance. However there are times when he looks at all the baby things he has gathered and wonders if they are for some kind of charity drive. Then he remembers. He blames the lapse of memory on old age and plans on eating more potassium. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): He is keeping a careful eye on Gadreel (ASaintOfSinners) as he might have to take action if it proves that his fallen brother has gone too far. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black continues to investigate the reports of a warehouse containing six bodies, all missing their fingers, a body outside a lighthouse missing its fingers, a couple dozen bodies in the lighthouse and about seventy severed fingers. Some of the men were obviously killed by what appeared to be a large animal. The investigations into these matters have kept Rachael busy and therefore she hasn't ventured out in public much lately. Dris (BardGaIIant): Lately Dris has been suffering inclinations of losing his sanity more than ever. Aside from suffering temporary black-outs, he has been seen out and about quite a bit this past week. Perhaps working so much is becoming too overwhelming for him. He spent some time with the Rev (Rev DiabIo) at the Medieval Tavern earlier this week where the two of them met a handful of new friends (friends in Dris' opinion). He and Tomas then went out for lunch with two lovely young ladies by the name of Sky and Shadow. While there he helped Tom work up the courage to ask one of them out on a date. He had intended for Tomas to ask Shadow, but was instead witness to the Rev asking Sky out on a date. That really did not seem to matter much considering that Sky said yes. What has happened since then remains a mystery to the bard. At another point in time he visited the Silver Moon Inn to catch up on his social agenda. There he spent some time telling Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren) the story about his lunch with the Rev. He also arranged another piano lesson with the elf Loranthias (Loranthias) which is scheduled to take place this Tuesday morning. There at the 'Moon he also met up with Thorm (GuthormOthinsson) and attempted to explain to the Norseman that the Rev was in fact alive, instead of dead as most of Rhydin believes him to be. Lately it has been a very confusing time for Dris, and he has found as much solace as he possibly can in the fact that in less than two weeks Carmine (Taciturn Merc) will be free of all his obligations to Faye (Faye Random). At that time he will be happy to live a partially normal life again with his life-long companion the Spanish mercenary. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): The good Doctor still has yet to be seen in public after returning from her mysterious trip out of town. There's still no word on where she went or why she went there. Donatello and Sydney Harada (DonatelIo Harada & SmileFang): The couple that's been so scarce since their abrupt marriage is back in public- just not very presentable. They've been spotted at the Silver Moon with bruised faces and limps, but have offered no explanation. No one's asked for one, either, wisely. They've never been known as open people Duncan (Duncan J Harper): We have still been very unsuccessful in the department of finding news on this most elusive Rhydin resident. The few and brave reporters who have ventured off in search of any leads have all returned to us with mad ramblings concerning their pets having been morbidly killed and random death threats being pinned to their doors. At this rate it's highly unlikely that we'll have anything about him to reveal to the public eye, ever. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): With all of her previous business complete, Ehz has had very little to do. Still, she keeps herself joyfully occupied in Limbo and just about mostly out of everybody's hair. She dropped by the Medieval Tavern earlier this week, but that is about all. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): The most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse continues to suffer very bad dreams. Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): Still has not been seen after he was rescued by the fae. Perhaps that is the last that we shall see of the gnome? Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): The only proof that Faye still exists is in the fact that two messages were delivered this week. She is still very reluctant to make herself seen in Rhydin and other lands, but it is apparent that she is still doing her part in watching those close to her. Revari (KaleidoscopeWhim) delivered these messages for her to Mithril (ASaintOfSinners) and Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno) at the Medieval Tavern earlier this week. Next to nothing is still known of Faye's whereabouts, and it is a wonder if she intends on returning at all. Foxpride Xavier Langston Pepper (Rings Twice): No news this week. Fury (ReversedHaIo): No news this week. Gem (Gemethyst): Mestrangelo (MestrangeIo) outfitted Gem with various sheaths so she is a walking weapon again. Since she cannot wear her leathers now, she was only armed with two daggers up her sleeves. Now she is feeling much more secure. Stupid dresses. Gem found out that there is a prophecy indicating her child is the end of Mithril (ASaintOfSinners). This info came from Mithril, who told her he would try to fix the damage he has set in place to happen. As a result, seeing he is willing to risk his existence to do so, she no longer hates him. Gem was seen in town yesterday, dragging a tall, handsome young man around. White blonde hair, light blue eyes. It is reported that she seemed to be purchasing him a wardrobe of clothing, boots, etc. The man seemed a bit bewildered by it all, and was very obediant to her. She then took him to an inn, where the male stared around as if he had never seen such sights. They disappeared from the inn, with no warning, and were not followed from that point. Gem no longer has the necklace that so much to do was made over. It was given to Cassiel, to help in removing the curse from Faye. Where it has since gotten to is a mystery. Gem has not inquired, feeling the risk of no longer having it is worth it, to save Faye. Bad dreams have continued to plague Gem, especially dreams of Kakabel. But now, Revari seems to be taking a hand, and is promising to try to keep Kymeera from assaulting her with so many nightmares. Jade (Irreverent Jade): No news this week. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): There have been no sightings of the Nightmare Keeper as of this past week. Either he has been keeping himself very busy with his immense freedom in the dream department, or he is cooking up something. None of our reporters have been able to get a fix on his whereabouts, but we're sure the moment he makes an appearance there'll be news all around. Lady Calypso Proudfoot (SN Pending): She is perhaps the most dignified and adorable lady, right after Elaine. She approves of Gem's petting skills. Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Our sources tell us that Mesteno has returned recently from some sort of journey. The reasons behind this are not precisely known, but it is rumored to be related to the fact that Gadreel (ASaintOfSinners) had put a curse on him. It is said that Mesteno met with Gadreel in the Medieval Tavern earlier this week and that all deals were broken off. Mesteno is allegedly free of his curse, as is everyone else who seems to have some sort of connection to the sadist. Revari (KaleidoscopeWhim) delivered a message to him shortly after the arrangements were made. Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): He has been fully integrated in every sense of the word. That includes the spark of him remaining that was left of his long, forgotten existence as an angel. What changes this will bring long term is unknown, but one thing is clear. He is busy working on undoing some of the evil that he had woven recently, primarily in matters that concern Mesteno's (Bronze Mesteno) curse and Gem's (Gemethyst) child. He has also given up his quest to eradicate Echt for various reasons, but the primary one is that he is still angry at Tom and figures that he should take care of his own business. He has also been able to send most of the spirits that were haunting him on as they found a focus in Vadriel's (Vadriel de Guise) dwelling. Hopefully they will pass on and reincarnate into new lives and take the second chance they were given. Seven souls have chosen to stick around. Mozart (Amadaeus Felidae): Tormenting Dris (BardGaIIant) is so much fun! Someone has to keep the bard in his place and it might as well be Carmine's (Taciturn Merc) black and white tuxedo cat. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Rei (AmethystStarfall): Wants more cheesecake and wasabi. Nevermind the strange looks people might give his mother for eating both at the same time. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): No news this week. Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): Revari was only spotted once this past week, and that was at the Medieval Tavern. After the incident concerning Gadreel's (ASaintOfSinners) change of heart, she appeared brieftly to deliver an assortment of messages. The crystalline scrolls were given to Gadreel and Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno), and they are rumored to be messages from Faye herself. Revari said very little during her brief stay, however she did give Gem (Gemethyst) one of her teddy bears and promised to give her pleasant dreams for as long as she could keep Kymeera (TheDreamWarden) out of her hair. Robin (Robin Kalahola): No news this week. Seamus Wylie (Seamus Wylie): Seamus, like his adopted older brother Donatello, has also been seen back in public after a long hiatus, and has also been visibly injured, with his hands bandaged and a stitched cut over his left eye. People have asked him for explanations, but he hasn't given them any. No one's been pressing him, either, because he's been acting terribly shy and skittish, sticking close to the people he knows best and drawing away from others. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): Appeared in the Keep to inform Gem (Gemethyst) that Gadreel had Azrael (another angel of death) open the gates of Hell and release all the souls that Gadreel gathered over the ages. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): Ever since his miraculous resurrection, not much has been known about the goings-on of the Rev. From what our sources were able to gather, it is known that he met a handful of new potential friends. One of them Dris (BardGaIIant) helped him work up the courage to ask out on a date. Unfortunately, it seems that she met someone else in the interim and the Rev never got to go out on the alleged date. He was also spotted at the Medieval Tavern earlier this week in the company of Ehz (Ehzoterik) who made an abrupt departure as she is often known to do. There are still some skeptics out in Rhydin who disbelieve that the Good Reverend is in fact alive and well. Hopefully all the confusion will be cleared up in the near future. Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week. Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): No news this week. Valleana (Va11eana): No news this week. Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): After a joke went bad, he had to deal with an irate parent and give some hasty explanations before he got turned into a fox coat.
