Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #16 ~ 1 December 2003 The Blurb Hello all you happy readers you! To start things off this week I'd like to throw out an apology. Several in fact. The first thing that I think I should apologize for is the fact that you are all receiving this week's issue several hours later than intended. The reason for this is as simple and idiotic as the fact that I forgot today was Monday! With all the rush of the holiday season bogging me down and my schedule at work being as screwy as it is, it's been increasingly difficult for me to remember which day is which anymore. Hopefully I didn't ruin anyone's day. The second thing I would like to apologize for is all the errors and mishaps that snuck their way into last week's Special Edition issue of Ubique's. My only excuse is fatigue battling insomnia. With a little luck and a firm mindset, I'm hoping that there won't be so many complications and mistakes in the future. This past week presented itself as another one of those slow times where not a lot of playing went on. Most of us are online at different times and hardly get very many opportunities to play with each other, but the times that we do get together to play are wonderful times indeed. In one of the many personal updates I received this week, I was very pleased to read a comment concerning gratitude. If you all remember correctly, when I belatedly remembered to send out the segment concerning Thanksgiving I asked if there was anything anyone was thankful for. I thought it would be nice to see what everyone had to say about such things, but much to my dismay I only received one response. To the player behind Ariana MacGyldren, I would like to say thank you. "I'm personally thankful for all my role-playing partners and those players out there who allow me to join in their storylines," were her precise words. A beautiful sentiment, AG. Thank you for making us feel appreciated and thank you for sharing the enjoyment with us all.
This Just In There are times in which I feel as if our readers don't really take the time to soak in all the information we share in these pages. With every update I receive from all of you, however, I am greeted with a shower of relief and satisfaction. From the opening Blurb to the editor's Final Thoughts, I've come to realize that week by week I sometimes more information than I know what to do with. Personally I'm thankful for all of you who have helped keep the UW dream alive and kicking. It overjoys me to be able to share information and help everyone stay involved with each other on some level. There weren't very many collaborative stories shared with me this week, but that does not mean we are without our ... Headlines Corporate Split: The Department Heads of the offices of Ubique's Weekly have been holding several meetings over the past few weeks. Reports have been pouring in over the discussion of a potential Corporate Split in which our Headquarters will become two. There has been talk of the creation of a new publication by the name of the Ink Wire. At this point and time we have only been informed that the Ink Wire will be responsible for all of Rhydin's local news. Currently applications are being taken to fill in several positions that the new paper will be requiring. Volunteers have made extra cash this season standing on corners handing out flyers to suspected unemployed Rhydin individuals. We have also been informed to let our readers know that the Ink Wire is still hiring. (An idea that could turn itself into a far-reaching storyline should anyone be interested. The inspiration came from UW reader Kevin N Summers. If you think your character needs a job, feel free to send us your ideas by clicking here:

.) In Film: Bayview Productions is currently developing a documentary on giant ants in Rhydin. A film crew should be arriving through the course of the coming week (screen names TBA). Keep your eyes peeled and maybe you too can win your fifteen minutes of fame! In Sports: The Rhydin Regional Invitational Karate Tournament went off without a hitch this past week. We covered this story in our previous Issue 14 in which we mentioned that Nacthwulf Dojo will be represented by Miguel Quiñones (SN TBA). Miguel had a spectacular showing at regionals. He placed third in fighting, seventh in forms, and first in weapons. Please join his proud instructor (Tom) in wishing Mr. Quiñones hearty congratulations for such a strong showing. From here, Miguel moves on to Nationals. More on this as it becomes available. Feature Photo: The payroll department of Ubique's decided this week that it was about time we gave one of our freelance employees a step up the company ladder this week. Our one and only official photographer sent in quite an assortment of pictures this week. The editor in chief was so thrilled with his work that it was decided Nick Summers (Kevin N Summers) should be welcomed aboard as a full-time employee. Thanks to his fabulous contributions we were able to get a better look at what goes on in Rhydin about its people and life in general. Mr. Summers is so devoted that he was able to sneak up on the Silver Moon Inn's newest addition to the staff. Here we have a photograph of Mr. Richard Harker, aka Joker, after he'd drunk himself into a nearly unconscious stupor. In Other News...Even with all the chaos that seems to envelop us all during the holidays, it seems that everyone spent quite a lot of time online and being active in role-play land. I'd like to take the time to thank everyone for their contributions. Ubique's would be next to nothing without all of your support and collaboration. This week's Character Updates may not be as overwhelming as they have been in the past, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth reading. Enjoy! Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No news this week. Let us all rejoice! Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): Axe has been seen poking his head out of his office a few times. It is rumored he has taken up residence in that office. Readers are still encouraged to send any inquiries about the Axe to our new offices of the

. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister, her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and their son Brion attended her sister Ariana's Thanksgiving celebration. Anna brought her famous gingerbread and a new baked creation for her, pumpkin popovers, which were a big success. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister has been tending to family business and the bakery most of the week. Ariana not only helped cater various Thanksgiving celebrations around the realm, but she also managed to get most of her large family together for a Thanksgiving celebration of her own. As a result, she's developed a rather strong aversion to seeing turkeys for a while. Somehow, when Ariana mentions the aversion, either the word comes up or the actual item tends to appear, just to plague her. The green former tender did look after the Silver Moon Inn once and visited the Inn twice last week, though except for the mention of or appearance of turkeys, nothing newsworthy happened during her time there. Ariana continues to worry about her daughter Elaine's nightmares. Banshee Aqua (Banshee Aqua): See update on Hunney. Carmine (TaciturnMerc): The Spaniard has been taking it easy since recovering from his illness. Most of his time has been spent locked up in the house with Dris (BardGaIIant), but lately he has been getting the urge to go out and get back to work now that everything is back to normal. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): The angel of Tears and Solitudes has mostly been watching over both Tom (Rev DiabIo) and Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno). He has been seen in the Medieval Tavern folding origami paper. Chaus (Wake up caIl): The word about Chaus is, no one knows what's quite going on. Neither the daemon or Chaus himself has been too active lately. He seems to be going through some changes though -- seperating himself from his friends and being extremely distant even when in the company of those he trusts. One note is, that he's been seen with a very strange woman by the name of Siva (Sophistic Siva). D (Duncan H Harper): Rumor has it that he has been seeing doctors, but other than that there is nothing to report. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black continues to investigate various crime sprees and has completely abandoned the investigation about the "lighthouse finger murders." Rachael was briefly seen in public at the Silver Moon Inn this week. Dris (BardGaIIant): The craftsman bard has been very scarce this week, however our sources report that he was seen at the Medieval Tavern this weekend. To the best of our knowledge he has been spending his time helping Carmine (Taciturn Merc) recover and reconnect with the world after his illness. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): The good Doctor has been tending to her patients and continues her work with Mrs. VanHasselt. Maranya's duties have been keeping her busy and as a result she hasn't made any public appearances. The good Doctor still remains noticeably closed mouthed about what happened on her recent trip out of town. Donatello Harada (DonatelIo Harada): No news this week. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): No news this week. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): No change here, the most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse still suffers from very bad dreams. Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): No news this week. Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): After the final administrations had been delivered to Carmine (Taciturn Merc), Faye has been spending most of her time relaxing and what she calls "hunting." She was seen at the Medieval Tavern later this week to pay her son Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno) a visit. Other than that she has been preparing herself for the upcoming Winter in which she claims to have decided this year she will be hibernating. Fox Pepper (Rings Twice): Still delivering the mail, just like he should. Fury (ReversedHaIo): Nothing new to report. She's still working on those fluffy white rabbits for Gadreel. And that's that. Fury isn't too fond of being a social butterfly. Gem (Gemethyst): There have been rumors of bad dreams and more villains in Gem's life, however none of our sources can quite precisely pinpoint what is going on. All we know is that there's more bad news for Gem to be living with. It is said that she is involved in some sort of elaborate plot against her and some of her friends: Randall (Elaborate Guns) and Mestrangelo (MestrangeIo). Other than that, we are clueless. Maybe next week we'll have more to say about that. Hunney (formerly Hunneyme): Has returned to her homeland to deal with a family tragedy. Sadly, this has prevented Hunney and Banshee (Banshee Aqua) from exchanging wedding vows. Banshee is unable to return with Hunney and is said to be quite inconsolable. Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): Bunny boy has been spending quite a lot of time out and about the greater Rhydin area this past week. Seems he's feeling way too cooped up at Dr. Valkonan's (Maranya Valkonan) ranch now that there is less and less to do. The day after Thanksgiving he worked on stringing up the lights and Christmas decorations around the ranch. Whenever he decides to take a break (which is more often than not) he can often be found at the Medieval Tavern or the old Red Dragon Inn Keep. Right now he's finding himself awfully bewildered with the goings-on and has been considering running for good. Jade (Irreverent Jade): No news this week. Kevin (Kevin N Summers): Nothing much to say about the would-be hotshot photographer other than he has been doing excellent work providing Ubique's with prints. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): Gone for good? We can only hope. No news to report this week. Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Drinking, flirting, making love and sometimes war. It's been typical for Mesteno, but not much news to report about it all. Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): Mithril has been laying low, though he has been seen on occasion in the Keep as well as various military surplus stores. He is soon going to pick up the 13 white rabbits that he had ordered. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): Late Saturday night, Parhi, the half-orc battlemaiden, returned to the Silver Moon after a long absence. She had recovered from the battle with the Concordant and then headed off to find a Priest of Lathander, her patron deity, seeking absolution for her sensations of pleasure at the destruction of her other-planar twin. She returned Saturday night in a state of agitation; it seems that even in self-defense, the killing of ones own concordant is a disruption of the natural order. Now, Parhi has been told to await a messenger, bearing penance from her God. All she really knows is, it's going to hurt... Rei (AmethystStarfall): MORE WASABI!!! Rekah (Rekah Dravina): She's still gone, and she's still crazy. Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): She finally met up with Mesteno this past week, long after she was done with the World Fugue ritual. None of our sources were able to find out what the Daydream Weaver and the son of Faye discussed, but we do know that was the last the realms have seen of Revari in awhile. Robin (Robin Kalahola): Is still missing. Rose (Electrum Rose): No news this week. Seamus Wylie (Seamus Wylie): No news this week. Suphlatus (AInfernalElement): No news this week. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): No news this week. Sydney Harada (SmileFang): No news this week. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): Has taken a major step in his healing process. At the urging of his brothers (Cassiel and Mesteno), he is confronting his personal daemons and putting a lot behind him. An anonymous informant stated that Tom actually expressed heartfelt emotion. Perhaps there is more to him than really bad puns and potty humor. Troy (Troy Embry): Has returned to Avelta on personal business. No further information is available at this time but sources close to Gunnery Sergeant Embry say that it might have something to do with Colonel Tyson Bennett. Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): No news this week. Valleana (Va11eana): No news this week. Wilhelm "Dozer" Braun (SMI Dozer): Has been on hiatus for a long time. Early reports stated that a mystery package led to Dozer's departure from active service to the Silver Moon Inn but these reports have yet to be confirmed since Dozer cannot be reached for comment. SMI management will not discuss the matter with the press. Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): No news this week. Classifieds Mutual Endeavors and Ubique's Weekly would like to invite all our readers to become a part of a Rhydin-wide phenomenon that has long since slipped under the noses of the populace. For those of you who remember the good old days of AOL's message boards, we would like to remind one and all that nothing is ever completely lost in this day and age. Perhaps one way that we can all achieve our goals of keeping our storylines on the same track is to make use of this forgotten treasure. Therefore, it is our great pleasure to direct everyone's attention to the existence of Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery. With the creator's permission, we are welcoming one and all to read, write, and enjoy the glory that is storytelling through the use of message boards. May the entertainment continuously flow in unison with those overwhelming waves of creative juices! * * * Ubique's Weekly is a publication provided by the not-for-profit organization known as Mutual Endeavors.
