Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #17 ~ 8 December 2003 The Blurb Retail is the work of the devil, and it finally shows. I'm very thankful for all of you who have noticed this week's blunder. For those who haven't noticed (which would really amaze me), this edition of Ubique's is coming to you all much later than anticipated. There's been very little time for rest and relaxation for this humble editor thanks to the "glory" of the Christmas season. So if any more issues come to you late this month I only hope that you can all understand why. It's been nearly a week (if not more) since I've been able to get online and play. My creativity stores are running low, so forgive me if this edition is not quite as exciting as the previous ones. Along with my repetitive apologies, I would like to send out my thanks to everyone who sent in submissions this week. Another thing I neglected to do was send out the weekly reminder. It's great to see that everybody's been busy having fun and remembering this little newsletter of ours. It makes me feel that role-playing really is worth it. So thank you all for striving to keep the dream alive. I love you all! I think I'll leave it at that and keep the bubbly hearts floating in the air while we move on with the rest of this week's issue.
This Just In It really does amaze me that during a season this freaking busy, everybody still finds the time somewhere to waste their lives away role-playing online. Heh heh. That's a joke if you haven't guessed. I really wouldn't call entertaining ourselves through the collaborative efforts of the written word a waste of time. In my heart I've always believed that this kind of recreation is a skill-building endeavor. One that we all share mutually. Hence, Mutual Endeavors. But enough with my sentimentality. You didn't open this e-mail to be overwhelmed with that. Let's take a look at this past week's... Headlines Messy Murderers?: The Silver Moon Inn has been the site of some strange activities lately -- stranger than usual, that is. On Tuesday, Halvah (Halavar Arenson, SMI Halavar) had her bartending disturbed when she found a human liver wedged behind a bottle of scotch. This Saturday, Joker (Richard D Harker, SMI Joker) had his shift similarly disrupted when he discovered a human heart in the sink behind the bar, so fresh it was still moving. The police are investigating. Deputy Marshall Rachael Wynter, while questioning regulars at the SMI about the finding of the heart on Saturday night, discovered a human kidney in the pot of stew on the buffet. On The Crime Beat: The SMI has had a series of odd occurrences. The first occasion was a human liver, tucked away behind a bottle of scotch on Halavar's shift. The second was a human heart, found still twitching in the sink on Saturday night. Joker's shift. Since then, on Gem and then Halavar's shifts this week, respectively, there has been a set of kidneys found in the stew, and a batter dipped, fried hand in with a plate full of chicken. There is no clue yet as to who is committing these crimes, but police have been contacted on all but one occasion. Officer Rachel Wynter seems to be charge of the investigation. Anyone with information in the case of mysterious organ disposals at the Silver Moon Inn or the whereabouts of a Richard Dennis Harker is to contact

. 'Tis the Season: The SMI has been well decorated for the holiday season. Donatello (DonatelIo Harada), with the help of Auggy (TSgt Benson) and Drake (Drake Valkonan), decorated the Inn this Thursday with many strands of lights, nine animatronic reindeer, a Santa Claus to match them, and a sleigh. They even managed to only blow out the lights in the Inn twice in the course of their work. On the inside, the 'Moon was decked out by Sydney and Don Harada, with the help of everyone they could wrangle into it, with a tree and plenty of garland. Be sure to enjoy the display. In Other News...I'd like to take the time to thank everyone for their contributions. Ubique's would be next to nothing without all of your support and collaboration. This week's Character Updates may not be as overwhelming as they have been in the past, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth reading. Enjoy! Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No news this week. Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): No news this week. Readers are still encouraged to send any inquiries about the Axe to the offices of

. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister is tending to her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion's needs. Anna has refused her sister's request to tend again at the Silver Moon Inn for the holidays, preferring to spend her free time baking for the bakery instead. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister has been tending to family business and the bakery most of the week. Ariana did look after the Silver Moon Inn once this week when her brother Don (DonatelIo Harada) and a young man named Augie (TSgt Benson) decorated the outside of the SMI with lights and other Christmas decorations. She's also involved with catering the upcoming Rhydin Family Charities fundraiser. Thanks to help from Lucky (Lucien Mal) and Gem (Gemethyst), a lot of sorely needed spices and other bakery supplies were gotten from the Marketplace. Ariana's asked both her sister Anna (AriannaRavenwood) and Melly (Melanie Wyndham) to fill in at the SMI over the holidays. Anna has refused this request; Melly hasn't made her decision known yet. The green former tender was also present in the SMI during two pivotal events recently, one involving Parhi (The Multifarious), the other involving Collie (PrlUnicorn)'s daughter Rachael (RachaeI MacLeod). Ariana continues to worry about her daughter Elaine's nightmares. Banshee Aqua (Banshee Aqua): No news this week. Carmine (TaciturnMerc): No news this week. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Other than working on helping Mesteno acquire a new "house" to call his own, there is nothing new going on with the angel. Chaus (Wake up caIl): No news this week. D (Duncan H Harper): No news this week. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black continues to investigate various crime sprees and has completely abandoned the investigation about the "lighthouse finger murders." Rachael was briefly seen in public at the Silver Moon Inn this week, this time to conduct an official investigation into the recent incidents of various body organs being left at the Silver Moon Inn. Dris (BardGaIIant): No news this week. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): The good Doctor has been tending to her patients, including Sydney and Don Harada (SmileFang and DonatelIo Harada) and continues her work with Mrs. VanHasselt. Maranya's duties have been keeping her busy and as a result she hasn't made any public appearances. The good Doctor still remains noticeably closed mouthed about what happened on her recent trip out of town. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): No news this week. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): No change here, the most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse still suffers from very bad dreams. Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): No news this week. Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): There isn't much going on with the elusive entity known as Faye. The Rumor Mill has been whispering about odd occurrences in the middle of the night where bodies of slain animals and people have gone missing. Sources tell us that Faye has made an official statement that she plans to depart the realm on the 21st of this month to hibernate for the duration of the Winter. Fox Pepper (Rings Twice): No news this week. Fury (ReversedHaIo): No news this week. Gem (Gemethyst): No news this week. Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): No news this week. Jade (Irreverent Jade): No news this week. Kevin (Kevin N Summers): No news this week. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): No news this week. Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Melly (Melanie Wyndham): The shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery has been asked by her Boss, Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren), to help out at the Silver Moon Inn for the holidays, as Ariana's sister Arianna has refused to tend there again. It's unknown whether or not Melly has applied to the mysterious Management for a job, but Melly does owe her Boss a few favors. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): The week began with Mesteno badly wounded after fighting Tomas (Rev DiabIo), and requiring treatment from him that caused a meshing of their minds. Mesteno learned that his friend Mickey (Mickey Oriley) was dealing in opium and was riled enough to try and kill the man (who stabbed him) by drowning him in the water trough. Disturbed by his lack of guilt, he sought out Cassiel (InvertedDarkness) regarding his destination after death. The end of the week having arrived, Mesteno found himself cured of the mind tangle with Tomas and with the possibility of a new home on the horizon thanks to Cassiel and Revari (KaleidescopeWhim). A final noteworthy encounter occurred when he was singled out by the ghost of a man named Jesse (Lethal Flame) who requested his aid in his "resurrection." This went smoothly and has earned him a powerful fire elementalist as a friend. Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): No news this week. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): Saturday night, Parhi's waiting for penance from the divine came to an end when yet another Parhi arrived at the Silver Moon Inn. This creature was not a concordant, however, but an Aleax (a construct of the deities of righteousness intended to enact justice). Utterly invulnerable to any attack from anyone except for the person it resembles, the Aleax battles its double without mercy or surrender. If it wins, the spirit of the penitent appears before its god, at which time it must pay a penalty for its misdeeds. If the penitent beats the Aleax, the construct fades away into mist, giving the penitent a fragment of its own divine insight, by which its flaws may be corrected. When the snow settled, Parhi was alive, but wounded. Healed of her physical injuries by Toho, she still seemed wounded in spirit. Only time will tell if she will endure. Rei (AmethystStarfall): Still developing. Nothing new. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): No news this week. Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): The Dream Weaver visited the Medieval Tavern earlier this past week to check up on Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno). She had a brief conversation with him and Cassiel (Inverted Darkness). The angel and the fae worked together in coming up with an idea for a Christmas present for the sadist. Together they agreed upon finding him a new home. Robin (Robin Kalahola): Is still missing. Rose (Electrum Rose): No news this week. Seamus Wylie (Seamus Wylie): Seamus doesn't catch many breaks, it seems. Though he has been working at the SMI and socializing there, he's had a bad-sounding cough for the past week. His behavior has been rather erratic as well -- during his shift on Friday, he was seen to go from cheerful and polite to near-silent and shaking within minutes, after a woman known as Tara entered. No explanations are forthcoming. Suphlatus (AInfernalElement): No news this week. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): No news this week. Sydney and Donatello Harada (SmileFang, DonatelIo Harada): The "two maniacs" are back from their stint in the hospital, following a disastrous attack on the nest of Hmte. They were caught in the explosion they set themselves and flung against a few trees...and they look at. As they are religiously opposed to magical healing and, in Syd's case, allergic to it, those broken bones will be sticking around for a while. As such, they haven't been involved in anything more dangerous than Inn decoration this week, unusually for them. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): No news this week. Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week. Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The ex-priest has been silently rejoicing that his home is guest free once more now that Mesteno has moved out, and enjoying any time Cassiel has been able to take to spend with him Valleana (Va11eana): No news this week. Wilhelm "Dozer" Braun (SMI Dozer): No news this week. Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): No news this week. . Final Thoughts That's it, folks. I can't apologize enough for how late this week's issue was. I can only hope that it gets easier from here on out, but we all know how the Christmas season works. Oi. I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and for not sending me any nasty hate mail asking me where the heck the letter has been. Though I'm almost sad that I didn't get any hate mail because of that. Still, with all the submissions I did get this week, I'm still very grateful that we haven't been completely forgotten. Until next week. Updates: Always remember that any future Ubique's Weekly submissions are always due the Sunday before every expected delivery date. UW is issued every Monday morning to afternoon, depending on how long it takes me to put everything together and send it off to the printers. Comments, questions, updates, additions, announcements, advertisements, etceteras are always welcome for every issue. While some may make it to the front page, there is no guarantee that all submissions will be printed. However, your thoughts are always encouraged to be shared. Just remember to send all of these aforementioned things to me at
