Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #20 ~ 29 December 2003 The Blurb Greetings once again my gentle readers! To my dismay I'm afraid I can't conjure up any fluffy words this week for the opening statement, but that doesn't mean there's no content for Ubique's. Oh no. We have plenty in store for you and I'm very grateful for all of you who took the time to play and progress your storylines this past week. As busy as the holidays can be it amazes me that any of us found any time to play at all. 2003 has been a great year. We've all come to know each other a little more by working together in our gaming. We've made friends and created families. We've learned to grow and share together. But most of all, we've all been able to maintain healthy levels of mutual entertainment and overall fun. 2004 is only a few short days away. It is my hope that these things we've begun together do not become forgotten. So it is with joy in my heart that I set before you the final issue of Ubique's Weekly for the year. Enjoy!
This Just In It really doesn't surprise me that we haven't an enormous amount of Headlines this week. Frankly, what does amaze me is the fact that we've been able to conjure up any at all considering the hustle and bustle of the fading holidays. Some of this is fabricated outside of role-play, but that's the way collaboration works. Ideas created, spread, and shared. So let's have a look at this week's... Headlines Charitable Tribulations: There have been many eyewitness reports coming in over the past week concerning the passing of an unidentified flying object seen soaring over Rhydin skies on the night of December 24th. Skeptics proclaim these imaginings to be nothing more than hallucinations created due to the effects of excess alcohol consumption while celebrating the season. Though there have been many other ecstatic proclamations that the mysterious entity must have been the most elusive jolly old sprite known as Santa Claus. Spectators have claimed to have heard the sound of jingle bells and a cheerful banter of overweight laughter to the sound of "Ho Ho Ho." Some have even claimed to have seen a glimpse of a glowing red light. While we have yet to receive any proof of this occurrence in the form of photographic evidence, one of our reports swears that he heard the pilot of the aircraft announce, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night" before disappearing into the horizon. Killing Sprees: The Tablesetter Murders has resumed. Local crimelords are being found at a staggering rate, sliced and dressed for a fine feast. The remains of their entourage are always found in buckets beside the perfectly set "table." Meteorological Mayhem: Temperatures have hit record lows in the pass to the northeast of Rhydin. Travelers are advised to choose a different route to points northeast. On The Crime Beat: Investigations surrounding the mysterious murders and disappearances of Rhydin residents still remains at a standstill. Authorities are working around the clock to track down and capture any potential suspects. ) Office claims ignorance on the origin of these letters and packages. Every letter investigated by authorities is said to contain a blue and green foil letterhead and is written in an incomprehensible script. Investigators are reluctant to detail the content of these letters, but our sources say that they are very nasty proclamations of a threatening nature. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, returned to her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family to spend the holidays there. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): After successfully catering the Rhydin Family Charities fundraiser and looking after the Silver Moon Inn for one evening, the green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), also went to her husband and brother in law's clan lands to spend the holidays there with her twin sister and her family. Ariana completely forgot about leaving the paperwork with Management for Melly (Melanie Wyndham) to tend bar at the SMI. Auggy (TSgtBenson): Healing nicely and his new arm is working very well. He is very interested in the giant ants and is learning as much as he can about them in his spare time. Banshee Aqua (Banshee Aqua): No news this week. Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): Meow meow meow. Carmine (TaciturnMerc): Spent the holidays with Dris (BardGaIIant) at the bard's sister's home. He is very much enjoying being healthy again. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): No news this week. Chaus (Wake up caIl): No news this week. D (Duncan H Harper): No news this week. Potentially still MIA. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black continues to investigate various crime sprees. Rachael still works with Doctor Nigel Newborn (Nigel Newborn) in the official investigation into the recent incidents of various body organs being left at the Silver Moon Inn and along with Sergeant Samantha Riley (Sgt Sam Riley) is investigating the case of the latest victim to the serial killer, Halavar (SMI Halavar). The deputy spent the holidays divided between performing her duties and with a very special person in her life. Dris (BardGaIIant): The bard has steadily begun becoming a recluse these days. In his lack of social activities, he has been spending quite a bit of time with Carmine (Taciturn Merc). They shared a joyous holiday with each other at his sister's home this past week. Friends and family close by. Dr. Newborn (Nigel Newborn): Has been reported missing by the Rhydin Municipal Cooperative. He was last seen in the crime lab. The watch sergeant found the lab in a state of disarray and Dr. Newborn missing when he checked the lab at the beginning of his shift. There were signs of a struggle and traces of blood which has since been determined to be a match for Dr. Newborn's. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): Even with tending to her patients as usual, the good Doctor found time to celebrate the holidays in a very special and happy way. That plus her duties have kept Maranya busy and as a result she didn't appear in public at all this past week. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Ehz spent the past week dressed up as Miss America Santa Claus. Wearing the skimpy getup, she hauled around a red satchel and traveled through Limbo doorways to visit the homes of her friends while they were sleeping. She left a box of homemade sugar cookies and a handmade Christmas card (covered in glitter) out for them to find the next morning. Overall she's just been wishing everyone a Happy Holiday and New Year. Be sure to set out some extra bubbly for her. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine got two very special presents for Yule, along with the more normal ones from her family. Those presents were the most adorable little girl in the entire Multiverse's recovery from a bad cold and a temporary hiatus from very bad dreams. Emmy (EmpressGrayfur): Meow meow meow. Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): No news this week. Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): Hibernating. Fox Pepper (Rings Twice): No news this week. Fury (ReversedHaIo): No news this week. Gem (Gemethyst): Gem has, over the course of the last few weeks been stabbed, electrocuted, had her ear sliced open by some crazy, been winged in the head by a mug tossed by yet another crazy, gone to Hell to help Mesteno and the others that went, and stopped tending at the Silver Moon Inn as it is not safe (at least until the murderer is caught or she delivers her babe). She is now just a day or two shy of nine months along and has two more months to go, with a due date of March 4th in the offing. She has been seen in the company of Ganon (Gerudian King) rather a lot, and some have heard her refer to him as "her man." Speculation is rife among the reporters, as she has not been seen at her manor during the nights for a couple of weeks now. None seem to know where this Ganon lives, nor is it possible to follow him, as he just vanishes. She was floored to find Kakabel at the MT, just walking in as if he had not been the subject of an intense puzzle map being worked out to try to save him. She even dropped her mug of coffee! Need we say more? She was deeply affected by his appearance, and by the fact that he does not remember ... anything. Old feelings were clearly visible, but only earned a sneer from Kakabel, just before he walked away. She has, since these busy weeks, determined to take up knitting. As she is quite tired now, and feeling like a watermelon has taken up residence, this should not be too hard to accomplish. Right? Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): Bunny-boy spent the holidays with Nerissa at both her family's home and his parents' home. He hasn't been seen out much, probably because he hasn't exactly been in Rhydin. Jade (Irreverent Jade): No news this week. Johan (Johan the Hunter): No news this week. Kakabel (FrameworkMemento): The amnesiac spent the holidays not knowing what they were about at the monastery he has temporarily called home. He still questions the reason for his existence and who he is. Still no answers. Kevin (Kevin N Summers): No news this week. Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): The spirit of Nightmare took a holiday for one day this past week. It is rumored he was feeling a little sympathetic towards all of his "victims" and decided to give them all a break. Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Melly (Melanie Wyndham): The shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery depended on her Boss (ArianaMacGyldren) to submit her application to the mysterious Management for a job at the Silver Moon Inn. However she discovered that, according to Management, no paperwork was received after all. Melly has since retrieved the rogue paperwork from her Boss' office and awaits the appearance of Management to submit in person to guarantee that the application is delivered properly this time. The shy blond had a very enjoyable Yule celebration, despite the application setback. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): No news this week. Mestrangelo (MestrangeIo): No news this week. Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): No news this week. Mozart (AmadaeusFelidae): Meow meow MEOW meow MEEEEEEOW! Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): No news this week. Pleione (StellarBalinese): The balinese tried to get Kakabel out of the monastery this past week, but was unsuccessful. She worries over the cause of his amnesia and how to fix it. It has also occurred to her that there is something mysterious about his sudden appearance in relationship to the map that Gem once showed her. It's very difficult for a feline to figure all this out on her own. Rei (AmethystStarfall): No news this week. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): No news this week. Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): Revari took the time to visit a place known as the Self Serve Tavern this weekend. Since Faye has gone into hibernation, the spirit of Memory has been trying her best to hold true to the agreement she made with the spirit of Entropy. She had a very pleasant converstation with a young man she once met by the name of Terry (Terrance Tomar). Much to her delight the boy is much less skittish around her now that they had that chance to speak one on one. Little by little she is enjoying her stay in the realms so far. Robin (Robin Kalahola): Robin is still missing and there are no leads in the case. He has been declared legally dead. Rose (Electrum Rose): No news this week. Seamus Wylie (Seamus Wylie): Seamus has left Rhydin with Don and Syd Harada, to visit New York City for the first time. This follows the distressing news of last week: Halavar and Seamus were well known to be a couple of sorts before her death, though as Halavar was openly a prostitute and Seamus has never been known for his monogamy, they weren't exclusive. Nevertheless, last week was an unpleasant one for Seamus, as he tried to tap a new barrel of ale while working at the Silver Moon, only to find a dead Halavar inside it. He was seen at the Red Dragon Inn Keep the next night drowning his sorrows in quite a bit of rum, but Cat got him home safely and he was gone the next day. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): No news this week. Sydney and Donatello Harada (SmileFang, DonatalIo Harada): The pair are out of town for the holidays- sources say they've gone back to Don's homeworld, Earth, and hometown of New York City. The rest will probably be welcome, as the late Halavar Arenson (SMI Halavar, Halavar Arenson) was an old friend of Syd's, and Don was one of the three to find her body at the Silver Moon Inn last week. The Dark Wanderer (SN TBA): There have been reports of a man in a black cloak with large hood making appearances in the Medieval Tavern. Early reports state that he has been mistaken for Rev. Tom. In fact, his voice bears a strong resemblance to Rev’s but there is something missing from this man which is always so strong in Rev. The Rev (Rev DiabIo): The good reverend has gone to Japan in search of answers and a certain item, rumored to be a helmet which was crafted for him by a master Japanese craftsman but was never delivered. More on it as it comes in. Troy (Troy Embry): A letter from Gunnery Sergeant Embry indicates that he has discovered something which is both exciting and frightening. He didn't get very specific and said he would explain to Ariana when he returns. Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): No news this week. Valleana (Va11eana): Valleana would like to remind Rhydin residents of the reopening of the temple to guests and visitors.
