Ubique's Weekly A Mutual Endeavors Publication Issue #31 ~ 22 March 2004 The Blurb Happy Monday, gentle readers! Or should I say Tuesday. Technically that is when you all should be receiving this week's edition. Some of you may be aware of the fact that I purposely delayed the delivery date this week, and aside from my initial reasoning behind such an occurrence, I'm very glad that I did. Not only did we receive a lot more updates from all of you wonderful players out there in RP land, but we also received a surprisingly pleasing number of new subscribers. It looks as if my RDI Message Board post did a bit of paying off. I've read a lot of thanks over there from the words I typed down, and I'm very happy that they did not go unnoticed. There is no need to thank me, for every name mentioned and unmentioned is well deserving of the praise. Everybody should be praised for the battle we all continue to fight so well. So thank you for all of the support. Now enough with the mushy stuff. Let's get on with this week's issue.
Storyline Spotlight There is still nothing to be added here to this section. However, I do have word from the Mistress Mallora that she is working on a write up for us. I cannot say when precisely we will have this information to share, but in the future there will be some news on the Temple of Love and Ecstasy. So keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned. This Just In Our Headlines The Headlines this week are quite the variety. Not only do we have things to share about characters and their stories, but there's also an assortment of OOC news as well. As always I'm pretty sure that all of you are capable of distinguishing between the two, so I really don't need to say much more. Without further ado, here are this weeks... Headlines Mutual Endeavors On the Web: Last week while I was working on other projects, I came across an idea and decided to send out an inquiry to all of ME's members. Though since not everyone who reads this publication is a member of Mutual Endeavors, I would also like to present the inquiry to all of you as well. Management has been working on constructing a web page for the Mutual Endeavors Group@AOL. While we have been very successful in coming up with content for the UW Headquarters page, it has been a struggle trying to come up with something for the ME Headquarters page. The Mutual Endeavors home page is at best right now only a working skeleton. Primarilly because I strangely cannot think of any content for it. So I thought perhaps all of you might have som ideas on what to put there. One of ME's members and UW's subscribers had this to say: "Interesting. Why not do something like a character hub? Each player presents a paragraph precis on one or more characters..." That's one idea, and it isn't a bad one. I have plenty of space to work with when it comes to building a web site. That would not be too unreasonable of an idea. To make it even better, I could provide links to individual character web pages, and so much more. Mutual Endeavors is a group not only for the characters, but for the players as well. Anything and everything concerning such that you would like to share with fellow players would be something the home page could benefit from. I also received a letter from another member and reader informing me that an art gallery was at my disposal. Thank you very much for the sentiments, ConstructReality. I'll be certain to add the link as soon as I have the time to do so. And thank you, The Multifarious, for your interesting idea concerning the home page. If there are any other interesting ideas out there from the rest of you, be sure to drop me a line at

. The Great Archiving Project: The editorial staff at Ubique's Weekly (primarilly me) has been working around the clock to get everything concerning the publication organized and categorized. So far we have issues 1-19 archived at UW Headquarters. On top of that we have added a couple of extra links. One to make subscribing even easier for those who do not already receive the newsletter. Recently we just added two new subscribers and we're looking forward to adding so many more. So don't forget, if you know of anyone whom you believe may be interested in receiving Ubique's Weekly, do be sure to forward them a copy of the newsletter. If they're truly interested, then they'll know how to subscribe by reading. The Great Slave Heist: This week, Katie Rose O'Dell was taken in by the police, along with Matakhat Cain, her suspected accomplice, for helping to move runaway slaves through the city. Cat and Rose were put up on the auction block themselves, quickly sold out of town and put on a ship for a place called Ilendoria. Sergeant Samantha Riley (Sgt Sam Riley) of the Rhydin Watch came to inform her friend Don Harada and his family, and all was soon chaos. To make a long story short: Seamus, Don, Syd, and Stephen Valkonan stole a boat and went to Ilendoria, to find that Cat and Rose had been taken for the Sultan's harem. They found their way into the palace by dint of Stephen pretending to be a visiting spice merchant, and Seamus his slave, while the distinctly non-human Syd and Don entered through less visible means. After Rose let loose all the slaves, the horses, and a harpy from the menagerie, the six made their escape and arrived back in Rhydin late Sunday night. The Silver Surfer Redux: There are reports of one Robin Kalahola being spotted at the beach apparently studying lines. While we are not quite sure what exactly practicing lines entails, it is certain that he has been doing just such a thing. Perhaps in a future edition we will have more information concerning this odd phenomenon. Time and Space Distortions: Scientists are still baffled over the number of strange occurrences that have been going on over the past month. On the morning of the 20th many eyewitnesses reported that their clocks had completely stopped functioning at precisely 3:20 AM. After one complete hour time telling devices started functioning again, immediately resetting themselves to the correct time. Monitors in many research labs started flickering and scrolling the message: Time and Space have come to play, Gone again for another day. Two king spirits so well known, Have gone themselves to return home. This strange phenomenon has scientists completely stunned as none of them can seem to make out precisely what the message means. On the evening of the 21st, many clocks were reported to have repeated the freezing process on a different time, and once again that message took over the monitors at the labs. Since then there have been no oddities, and scientist are still left wondering, trying to desperately figure out what it all means. In Other News... Lots and lots and lots of individual Character Updates. Yesterday there were not so many individual Character Updates as I would have hoped for. So I decided to wait a day and allow all those late updates to come pouring in. As I said before, I'm very glad that I did decide to hesitate. Because now there's so much more to write about. I don't know what else much to say, so read on! 2 Fly Harvery (Too Fly Harvery): No news this week. Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No news this week. Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): No news this week. Alexander Woods (Terra Nephilim): No news this week. Alquin (Woodland Shield): No news this week. Andrea Knight (Gaian Rampage): No news this week. Anna (AriannaRavenwood): No change here, the blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, is content to remain at present at her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. She continues to worry about her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko) after another letter she received from him speaking of fighting the orcs. Ariana made an appearance at the Silver Moon Inn this week to look after the place, substituting for a certain inebriated tender. Other than this, working at the bakery and refusing to deliver pastries for that certain tender's shift, the green sister still is in private mourning and is planning to avenge her son's murder. Arienh Crowther-Driscol (Arienh Driscol): As far as anyone knows she is busy watching the house while her parents are away on vacation. Auggy (TSgtBenson): There is not too much known about Tech Seargeant Benson's activities this past week. However, there have been reports claiming that he played an essentially important and heroic role of the rescue of one Irina Braeden (presumably the engineer's previously kidnapped girlfriend). Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): No news this week. Captain Merriam "Heavy Metal" Harris, USAF (Retired) (Heavy Metal Mer): No news this week. Carolyn Ariana Valkonan (DreamsinBurgundy):No news this week. Carmine (TaciturnMerc): Still on Vacation. Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Saturday evening he had his conversation with Faye and got his ring back. While speaking to her at the Silver Moon Inn, he also happened to be present to say hello to Ariana during her guard duty of the establishment. Chase LeMonde (Chase LeMonde): No news this week. Chaus (Wake up caIl): No news this week. Colleen MacLeod (PrlUnicorn): Yet another thing has the woman's head spinning. She was asked by her sister's husband, Shun (XShunkun), to let her know if she sees her sister, Desti (Destinie MacLeod), in town. While Collie agreed, she is most confused as to why he needs to keep track of his wife, who is now confirmed to be at home attending to the raising of their children. It is her opinion that such activity on Shun's part is why Desti stays at home. Akito (XHayama) was seen attempting to make an apology to her for some reason. It's well known by most of the regular clientele at the Silver Moon that Collie shunned Akito in the tradition of her people for his callous attitude regarding a death to preserve his own life. Sunday evening, Collie arrived for her tending shift at the Silver Moon to find the normally reliable Gem missing from the premises. She also found a body of a woman with a note tacked onto it. It was not a language she recognized, but she presumed it was Drow since Gem is known to speak it. The body was remanded to the nearest undertaker to be placed in the morgue. Based on the account of what happened from Shylah (Norse Lady), it has been determined that harm has come to someone close to Gem, likely her son. D (Duncan H Harper): No news this week. Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is currently investigating the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson. The Deputy Marshall appeared in public to investigate the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) as well. Diana Lasher (Fragile Fury): The Commander of the Misfit Squadron was seen speaking to Deputy Marshall Rachael Wynter regarding the disappearance of Irina Braedon. Lasher reportedly stated that the activities of squadron members regarding the kidnapping, lead by Ensign August Benson, might impede the Marshall's investigation. It is her opinion that priority be given to recovering the missing woman alive and the engineer has the squadron's full support. The Marshall stated assistance in the search was welcome and she appreciated the cooperation. Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic. Her duties this week kept her too busy to appear in public. Drake Valkonan (Drake Valkonan): No news this week. Dris (BardGaIIant): Still on Vacation. Dr. Newborn (Nigel Newborn): No news this week. Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): At the beginning of the week, Ehz dropped by Gem's manor for a short visit to crash her birthday party (a bit late) and give her a present. Hopefully Gem will take very good care of those two baby bunnies. She also stopped by the Silver Moon Inn for a little bit to see what was going on. She had some fun talking to L about random things. And she also talked to Cassiel about something, though she can't quite remember exactly what it was. Oh well, at least she got to have fun visiting her friends. Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine finally has stopped making cinnamon rolls. She still misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone. Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Is very relieved that she no longer has to breathe in cinnamon while trying to play with Elaine. Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): No news this week. Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): All reports have proven true that the elusive entity known as Faye Random has returned to the realms from her long Winter's hibernation. She has resumed her duties guarding the Silver Moon Inn and is very pleased to be back in the company of friends. She stopped by the Medieval Tavern to revisit old haunts and took some time to catch up with Gem, as well as meet some of the elf's friends. Later she dropped by the SMI to say hello to Ariana and keep her company, but was distracted from that initial cause by the pleasantry of speaking with Cassiel and returning his ring to him. She also took some time to speak with Akito (XHayama) to find out why it was he seemed so sad. After reuniting with her beloved son Mesteno, she played a role in attempting to prevent the kidnapping of a girl by the name of Irina, but did not succeed. She was last seen leaving the Silver Moon Inn to go on a walk with Akito who seems to enjoy speaking with her for some reason. Fury (ReversedHaIo): No news this week. Gem (Gemethyst, SMI Gem): The news as we have it is that Gem's son has been kidnapped. While the details surrounding this ordeal are sketchy, it is known that the elfess is very distraught. She was last seen at the Silver Moon Inn during her shift, but since then has been very absent. We presume mourning the loss of her child. Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, Irina's learning her new job, no Metroid attacks!, made a few new friends, staying at the Moon, nearly got taken away by xenos, got kidnapped and rescued, still didn't catch the viruses out there yet!, hits the local inns most every night and yet she still finds time to work on the next issue of Bright Suns. All in all, a pretty typical week for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned. J (Duncan J Harper): Still no news. Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): Bunny boy has had a very busy week. Trying to be friendly to a girl by the name of Tigerlily (VCheshireCatV), meeting a strange yet familiar girl by the name of Sloane (Midormi), falling victim to the ploys of a Cleaning Man who attempted to kidnap Irina, and so much more. He also seems to have made himself a friend in the manner of a yellow dog (YelIow Dog) without a name. Helping out in the rescue of Irina several hours actually she was "successfully" kidnapped, he discovered some things he'd rather try not to remember. Such as how a particular building tastes. Don't ask. He ended his week by calling up Deputy Marshall Wynter to tell her where to find the jerk who had kidnapped Irina, and then went home to sleep a few days away. Jesiah Daen (JesiahDaen): Still out of town. Johan (Johan the Hunter): No news this week. Joshua (Fashion Error): No news this week. Kakabel (FrameworkMemento): The amnesiac fallen angel is very perturbed by the fact that he was unable to prevent the kidnapping of his apparent son Rei. Holding back as much rage as he possibly can, he has been spending his time trying to ensure that Gem remains comfortable in her home by staying out of her way as often as possible. Though he has been as helpful as he can in small ways. Mostly by trying to resist the urge to go out on a killing spree. Kevin (Kevin N Summers): No news this week. Kulkem (The Multifarious): Kymeera: The Nightmare Keeper (The Dream Warden): See this week's Headlines. L:(Almighty LSama, SMI LSama): Lately, the tiny L has been acting very, very weird, talking to herself, and, from the looks of things, talking to some voice in her head very particularly. Not only that, but she's also been seen prowling around the docks a lot, though no one's quite sure why. Mallora (Ma11ora): No news this week. Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain): It was a traumatic week for Cat. She and Rose had been abducted, auctioned off, shipped off to a strange land called Ilendoria and trained to become harem girls for a sheik known only to them as His Holiness. Luckily for them, Stephen, Seamus, Syd and Don were quick to travel to their rescue. Through some shrewd planning by Rose and the rescue crew, they were all able to escape despite some chaos at the palace including riotous crowds, fire, wild animals and a menacing harpy. After two days at sea, all are finally safely home. Matriel (Rarefied Rain): No news this week. Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn. Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Busy as ever, the sadist has been causing large scales mud fights, rough-housing for fun, partying at Gem's, attempting to prevent Irina's kidnapping at the SMI with his mother Faye, working out the riddles of an artisan and seven ancient circles in a cemetary, in a battle across the park with some guards chasing Gem, making deals involving talking pygmy goats with Sin, trying to reassure his fretting lover Michael of his safety and been looking out for his ex-husband to attempt to kidnap him. All in all, a typical week. Mestrangelo (MestrangeIo): No news this week. Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): Still out of town. Morgan Knight (Morgan Rampage): No news this week. Mozart (AmadaeusFelidae): Lounging around at home making a mess and waiting for Carmine to hurry up and get home. Nicole Brock Anorlasvessë (Nicole E Brock): Nicole and her husband, Anorlas (AnorIas), have gotten their shop in gear. They specialize in hard to find gemstones and one of a kind jewelry pieces. Ophelia (EspressoBlues): No news this week. Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): No news this week. Pleione (Stellar Balinese): She is furious at herself for picking the wrong time to go out and hunt for a snack. Unlike her man Kakabel, she has gone out on a killing spree (primarilly rats as victims) to appease her own inner rage. Rachael MacLeod (RachaeI MacLeod): Rachael has been seen in the company of her stepfather (Ithildirnen, SMI Ithildirnen) and her heart brother, Anorlas (AnorIas). She was heard to jokingly refer to Anorlas as having been baby-sitting her due to her memory loss. Anorlas and Rachael were greeted by Akito (XHayama). Rae did not recognize him and was told by Anorlas that she did, in fact, know the man. Rachael made her apologies to Akito then explained about her memory loss and its cause. Akito gave his sympathies for her loss which lead Rae to believe someone had died. This also caused the amnesiac woman to begin wondering why her mother seemed to be avoiding discussion about the faces she could not recognize in her dreams. It seems Akito may have been determined to dredge up bad memories of him to Rachael's thoughts. The differences between the two are not exactly a secret. He stated, "I was a thorn in your side I am afraid." He also brought up the name of Sulrin (Sulrin, SMI Sulrin), who Rachael stated she did not recall. The following night, Rachael was present during Ithildirnen's ( Ithildirnen, SMI Ithildirnen) shift. She found it rather synchronistic that Akito appeared almost immediately after she mentioned to Ithil that the man had spoken to her of Sulrin. She did inquire of Akito, when offered the chance to begin anew, why he chose to inform her of her ill feelings toward him. He said, "I still knew what caused it...And I am not sure it would be honest of me...to try to take your lack of knoweledge...and use it to my favor." Rachael now wonders what was so bad that he cannot put it aside. Raef (Hraefn Korppi): No news this week. Ramiel (Ember Shade): No news this week. Randall Woods (Elaborate Guns): No news this week. Rei (AmethystStarfall): He was kidnapped and his mother is extremely distraught. The woman that told the news has been killed. The real perpetrator is still unknown. Rekah (Rekah Dravina): No news this week. Revari: The Daydream Weaver (KaleidoscopeWhim): See this week's Headlines. Rhiannon Brock (Rhiannon D Brock): No news this week. Rose Hayes Valkonan (Electrum Rose): No news this week. Seamus and Rose (Seamus Wylie, A stray Rose): See this week's Headlines. Shiver (The Multifarious): No news this week. Stephen Valkonan (Stephen Valkonan): No news this week. Suriel (Thirteenthchange): No news this week. Sydney and Donatello Harada (SmileFang, DonatalIo Harada): See this week's Headlines. Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Still on Earth. A hot Asian-looking chick has been seen on the roof of his warehouse apartment, feeding a cooped peahen. She is occasionally accompanied by a hot Mediterranean-looking dude. The Archangel Camael (Emerald Nimbus): No news this week. The Mandrag (Gerudian King): It would appear that the Mandrag is back in town. He's been seen hanging around the Silver Moon Inn occassionally, though why he came back is still a mystery. The Wraith (Mk5 Wraith 42080): The Wraith has been seen hanging around the purveyor Mestrangelo, quite a bit. It would seem that, despite the rather harsh, and cold exterior, he's not such a bad guy. Just...misunderstood. Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev DiabIo, Revered Tengu): No news this week. Tricky Streets (Tricky Streets, Skiptrace Stigma): According to our reports, Sigma played an important role in the rescue of Irina Braeden. Other than that, there isn't much other news. Troy (Troy Embry): No news this week. Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The spook magnet has been out again, though this time after being alerted by his ghostly followers that his aid was needed outside the Medieval Tavern. The heretic was forced to converse with a fallen angel bound to a witch friend of the sadist's in an attempt to work out her cryptic ramblings and in turn try to put a stop to her dream-walking. Valleana (Va11eana): No news this week. Wilhelm "Dozer" Braun (SMI Dozer): No news this week. Ynik (The Multifarious): The mysterious jedi has been spotted here and there around the Silver Moon Inn. Speaking mostly with Irina, Joe Yamada, and Jack. Probably because they happen to be the only people around during the times in which he visits. Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): No news? That's scary. Zeke (XZekeil DrakeX): No news, no sign, no nothing. Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.
