Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #32 ~ 29 March 2004

The Blurb

Good morning, happy readers! Another bright sun-shiney Monday morning makes its way across the globe as I bring you the latest and greatest in role-playing news. What I find absolutely hillarious about this week is the fact that I sent out two reminders. It's not just the fact that I sent out two, but the fact that it wasn't until I sent out the second one that I actually got some freaking updates! What's even funnier than that is the fact that not everybody listened to my "just in case" shpiel about how my connection might be terminated any time soon. And how I asked all of you to not only send your updates to me, but to my interim editor ArianaMacGyldren as well. But that's okay. Because I'm still here. So far so good, and hopefully in due time I'll be making some income. As in getting myself a freaking job. That will only happen when I get my phone turned back on. Which I hope to do within the next couple of days. I have some checks that need cashing. By the way, thank you very much Secret Santa!

Speaking of trying to make money, I'm going to make a shameless promotion right here in the opening blurb. I'm asking, no ... I'm begging, each and every one of you to help me out here. I've been told that my best bet is to sell what we have individually, but we need to make money fast and don't have the funds to cover so many auctions all at once. So I'm begging you all to take a look at What's For Sale and help me spread the word. The auction only runs for so many days and I'm hoping that somebody, somewhere, bids on them. I'm telling you, that's a steal for so many bagged and boarded comics. About 50 cents a piece. And that's all for my shameless promotion. Let's get on with the news in role-play land!

This Just In

The Headlines this week are a variety again. Not only do we have things to share about characters and their stories, but there's also an assortment of OOC news as well. As always I'm pretty sure that all of you are capable of distinguishing between the two, so I really don't need to say much more. Without further ado, here are this weeks...

Headlines

Chasing Lucky Charms: A small clan of sprites disappeared earlier this week, vanishing without a trace from their woodland territory. The disappearance of the Ffpl'lwr'yn family, numbering nine adults and three nymphs, was reported by adjuncts to the Rhy'Din City Guard, as the atomies were occasionally called upon to cooperate in cases where the Guard worked within forest borders. There are no leads.

Mutual Endeavors On the Web: Last week I mentioned work that I have been doing on a website solely devoted to the Group@AOL known as Mutual Endeavors. Since that time I have been eagerly awaiting any further suggestions as to how we might be able to improve the website as a team. The Mutual Endeavors home page is still at best right now only a working skeleton. The only content I have been able to come up with is the addition of links that lead to some entertaining places on the Internet that I thought everyone might enjoy. Some recent additions to the collection include Davena Oaks' Artwork and the web comic known as Hogwarts 1969 which is put together by two of ME's very own members and avid UW readers. The artwork put together in the collection of Davena Oaks is property of the artist and her wishes should be taken into consideration:

Words from the artist: "Feel free to use any images there (credit me or link to my gallery please), or if you'd like to request changes or a comission custom design you have in mind, email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ."

I still feel that last week's suggestion for future content to be put on the Mutual Endeavors homepage is a good idea. Should anyone be interested in helping me construct a Character Hub, or would like to add your character's homepage to the design, please feel free to contact me at any time by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Also feel free to send me any further suggestions that you may have concerning the future of the site.

On The Crime Beat: Anyone with information in the case of the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, a perpetrator previously charged with five counts of aggravated assault and two counts of petty theft, around the Silver Moon Inn as of February 29th, 2004, is to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Spies Like Them: A week ago, Irina Braeden was kidnapped by professional spies in order to bring pressure against her family. These spies were thwarted by Auggy, Joe, Jack and a number of others (including Irina's mother) in a safe house established by the Department of the Exterior (whatever that is). The safe house was set up in a location that was, and is, highly resistant to scrying, surveillance, and teleportation. This location was built long ago by the Illithids at the height of their power out of bioengineered materials. Since the havok that was wreaked a week or so ago, the Node has been 'active'. Psychic sensitives have picked up peculiarly strong echoes of the violence resonating through the astral plane, entirely unlike ghostly or magical activity. Few of the horrific Illithids have been seen in Rhydin in centuries. No good thing lasts forever...

In Other News...

There comes a time during the week in which I really start to worry that I might not get any updates at all. Until I sent out that somewhat threatening reminder, I had none at all from any of you. Then, about ten minutes later, my inbox was overflowing! Most of the news, as usual, consists of these individual Character Updates. I may be ruthless, but more often than not it pays off.

In fact, I never thought it would come to this, but apparently it has. With all the beautiful updates I received and all the news I have had to share, fate has declared that I nearly used up all of the space available to me. So, much to my dismay, I had to cut a lot of content. As you will see in reading on, quite a few character names had to be omitted from the list. Due to the fact that I receive so many, in the future I have determined that if I get no news from you then the name of your character will not even be listed. It's nothing personal, mind you, just a necessary course of action. Ubique's Weekly is large and in charge! And we need all the space we can get! Happy reading!

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No news is good news when it comes to a creature like this.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): Still no change here, the blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, is content to remain at present at her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. She continues to worry about her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko) after another letter she received from him speaking of fighting the orcs. Ariana made another appearance at the Silver Moon Inn this week to look after the place, substituting for a certain inebriated tender. Other than this, working at the bakery and refusing to deliver pastries for that certain tender's shift, the green sister still is in private mourning and is planning to avenge her son's murder.

Arienh Crowther-Driscol (Arienh Driscol): Since the return of her parents she is no longer required to house sit, but there is no news this week.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): After seeing this thing called a "cat show", she has deemed that it is something akin to a feline beauty contest. She feels that it is good she did not enter. Naturally, she would win.

Carmine (TaciturnMerc): He is back from vacation and while there found quite the surprise. Seems that an occurrence from thirteen years ago has come back to haunt him in the form of a strange, quiet son. He has decided to do the responsible thing, and took the boy back home with him. He is currently working on making sure that the boy is settled in.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): Since the kidnapping of his nephew, he has been busy seeking out those responsible. He left a note with Vadriel stating his intentions as well as a promise that he will return.

Chaus (Wake up caIl): BAD NEWS! As of wednesday night, Chaus Malikie is dead. Though his murderers have not been found. There were no witnesses, so the crime will doubtlessly go unpunished. His body was found at the Red Dragon Inn Thursday morning, pinned to a wall through the chest by a pike and left hanging there. The person who found his body, Sinjin, either has no information on the topic or is very unwilling to reveal it. Either way ... the apathetic bastard is gone for good. Nooooooooooo!

Dechirant and Fayalki (Dechirant, Fayalki):Dechirant and Fayalki have been spending a great deal of time with their two children, Ahwana (Willow-2 yrs) and her brother Yahuchi (Little Wolf) who is 4 months old. Having two young children has kept them busy the past few months, but now they're hoping to get out more frequently.

Recently, they sent a note to Dey's heart brother, Thorm, and they hope to get together soon. They have spent several interesting nights at the Faire in Lyran Tal (Crosswinds Tavern), and got a chance to see several old friends, and make a few new ones. Occasionally they visit the Silver Moon, Red Dragon Inn Keep or the Green Man.

Dey and Fayalki plan to attend the Warden's Ball on the 3rd, and will hope to see some of their friends there. If not, then perhaps when they send out invitations to their 3rd annual Spring Fling on April 17th, then they will get a chance to catch up on what their friends have been doing, and make some new friends in the process.

Future plans are to visit their friends and family: Lucien, Sylvia, Beth and Kyo, Laurelin, Dove and Kitten, Collie, Anorlas, Maerlin, Galadriendil, the MacGyldrens and everyone else they've missed. They are also considering once or twice monthly "raids" on the Red Dragon Inn which they would announce to their friends and see if perhaps the establishment could be tamed and enjoyed.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is currently investigating the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson and the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) as well. The kidnapper, Burt Larson (The Cleaning Man), was taken to a local hospital due to severe injuries suffered before the Deputy arrived on the scene. Rachael made a public appearance at the Silver Moon Inn, where she disclosed to Alex (Alex LeMonde), Marshall Chase LeMonde's brother, that crucial evidence in her pending cases has disappeared but she possesses unofficial copies of the evidence. She also disclosed that the kidnapper has since disappeared from custody because the law enforcement agency the hospital released him to does not exist.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and is currently in consultation with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya made a public appearance at the Silver Moon Inn this week and treated Matakhat (Matakhat Cain) for injuries suffered while Matakhat was riding. The good Doctor also supervised some landscaping improvements Jack (JackrabbitBlue) is currently involved with on her ranch.

Dris (BardGaIIant): Dris returned home from his vacation with Carmine early Friday morning and has since resumed his duties tending at the Silver Moon Inn. In fact, Friday evening he made certain to relate the tale of their adventures to any patrons who had an ear to listen. It turns out that after stopping to visit Carmine's mother in Barcellona, the two travelled to Madrid to revisit some old haunts from their adventuring days. While in Madrid they happened to find something that was lost to Carmine that the Spaniard had not even known about. That being a son thirteen years of age!

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Rumor control has reported that everybody's favorite, friendly, neighborhood psychopath made an apperance earlier this week at the Silver Moon Inn. Just in time to save Rose from the brutal assaults of a possessed stove in the kitchen. It is said that Ehz solved the problem by "duct taping the stove's mouth shut" and drawing up a new non-possessed stove for Rose to work with until such a time that the "demon stove" could be dealt with properly. Since that time, Ehz has not been seen.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine finally has stopped making cinnamon rolls and is really working hard on her studies. She wants to make her Ma, Da and Unca Don (Donatelio Harada) proud of her and doesn't want Missus Carmichael (MissusCarmichael) mad at her at all! She still misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's really gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Empress Emerald of Grayfur is very pleased that Elaine is no longer baking because she is still insistent that she is allergic to flour. She has spending most of her time sunbathing on Elaine's open school books and debating with her sisters who would win a feline beauty pageant.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): With Spring newly returned to the realms, one would think that Faye would be more active. Either she has not, or she has been so active that the only time people see her is when she is tending at the Silver Moon Inn. She spent some time speaking with Irina Braeden one evening concerning the girl's concerns over deciding whether to stay in Rhy'Din or to travel with her family in far away lands. She also helped dissuade a potentially volatile situation in which a dung heap ventured into the Moon, later being transformed into a young girl with the help of one Reverend Tomas Diablo.

Fury (ReversedHaIo): Fury is busy planning, scheming, being horrible and all the while looking for acts, workers, performers to be a part oft the Carnivale Macabre. It should be a most intriguing event. *Any and all inquires should be directed to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Fury was also spotted at the Silver Moon Inn late Sunday evening, where it is claimed she was forced to suffer the intollerable flirtations of one Reverend Tomas Diablo (Rev DiabIo). Our sources state that Fury was so annoyed with the man's forward attitude that she finally bashed a chair over his head and walked away calmly. It is doubtful that any romance will be blossoming in the woman's life any time soon.

Gem (Gemethyst, SMI Gem): What little has been seen of Gem is when she ventures out to take on her duties tending bar at the Silver Moon Inn. Rumor control reports that she is distraught over the loss of her son who was kidnapped some short time ago. Not only that, but she has been very troubled over the sight of a young man claiming to have the same name of her stolen child!

Hmte(Invasion of Hmte): Word has it that an entire flock of sheep was eaten by giant ants Friday. It seems Hmte is starting to get hungry again...

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, Irina's still at her job at Blackjack Adventures, no Metroid or Xeno attacks!, made a few new friends, staying at the Moon or Northedge, got two bodyguards, a tricked out purple jetbike from her boyfriend Auggy, Mama's getting on her nerves, still didn't catch the viruses out there yet!, hits the local inns most every night and yet she still finds time to work on the next issue of Bright Suns. All in all, a pretty typical week for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): After helping with the rescue of Irina from the evil clutches of the notorious Cleaning Man, Jack has spent as much of his week as possible trying to relax and help other people remember how to do so. Particularly Irina. While he admits the events that she went through were probably quite traumatic to her, he still feels that she needs to learn how to joke about her predicaments and remember to have a good time. On random occassions he has dropped by for an evening beer or a morning coffee at the Silver Moon Inn. Talking with friends, having as much of a good time as possible, and trying to forget that anything awful has happened at all. One of these days he needs to remember to catch Collie (PrlUnicorn) to ask her about those roses she said she was going to give him so that he can add them to the landscaping plans he has been working with his employer Dr. Valkonan about.

Jesiah Daen (JesiahDaen): Probably still out of town.

Joshua (Fashion Error): He has renewed his rooms for another week. He is currently working on finding some contacts as well as producing enough income to keep things paid for.

Kakabel (FrameworkMemento): Since the kidnapping of his alleged, the amnesiac fallen angel has left Gem's home to accompany his brother Cassiel in a search for clues that might lead them to those responsible. He left a note with Gem informing her that he would return as soon as justice has been served and their son found.

Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain): Cat had a riding accident this week dislocating her shoulder. Determined not to tell Don and Syd, as they had enough troubles, Seamus was able to manipulate it back in place after which Dr. Anya treated her afterwards. She also decided to help her guardian by buying him (by charging on Don's credit card without him knowing) some devices to help with his temporary blindness. A Braille labeler, a color identifier, talking watch and alarm clock and pill box. She did have a bit of fun by labeling some of the books in his classroom with famous porn flick titles. Adding to the mischief this week, Cat decided to take secret driving lesson and charging them on Don's credit card. Added to that bill was the half a dozen garbage cans she wiped on her first lesson. She might not want to be in town when all the bills come in.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): Still out of town on business. It would seem that he is going to stay gone for a while. His pet peacock is currently sitting on eggs. Hopefully he will return before they hatch, but it does not look that promising.

Morgan Knight (Morgan Rampage): Rumor control reported spotting the young business tycoon at the Silver Moon Inn late Sunday evening. It is said that he has since returned from a business venture in which he needed to clear his company's name of any misguided accusations. While at the Inn he spent a lot of time getting reacquainted with his friends and feeling quite miserable about the entire ordeal being blown out of proportion. It is presumed that he had hoped for a happier reunion.

Mozart (AmadaeusFelidae): He is currently behaving himself and keeping an eye on this strange human creature that has followed HIS Carmine home.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): She has returned to Rhydin, and is currently keeping company at the Divine Delights Bakery.

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): Moving a lot quicker than her man Kakabel, Pleione left Gem's estate without a sign or a trace that might lead to her whereabouts.

Rei (AmethystStarfall): He is gone. That's right. Missing. He was stolen from his mother and all psychics, mediums, and other such people with powers who are quite unable to locate him. Oddly enough, just recently, this shabby teenage boy has been seen in the Silver Moon Inn, who also goes by the name Rei. His features such as skin, hair, and eye color seem to match what Gem's child has. Could it be coincidence or something more?

Rekah (Rekah Dravina): Rekah has been seen at a local nunnery. The nuns there seem to find it necessary to keep her under lock and key -- as to why is anyone's guess.

Salvador (Peculiar Silence): A strange and quiet boy has been seen haunting the Silver Moon Inn on two occassions this past weekend. The boy with the strangely colored yellow-green glittering eyes is still a mystery to most, as it is apparant that the poor teen cannot speak more than a couple of words in English. The extent of his communication skills are solely dependant on the use of Spanish. Though there are some who have been a Godsend to the boy, as they are also able to speak in the language he knows. For those who have been able to break the language barrier, it is clear that the boy's name is Salvador. Though only a few have had the privelage of hearing his full name, and fewer still who know him by his preferred shortened name of Sal. What future lays in store for this youth is still yet unkown.

Seamus and Rose (Seamus Wylie, A stray Rose): Any week that starts with Seamus' pet chicken Hetty being inadvertently turned into buffalo wings is not off to a good start. Though Rose found Hetty's nest and presented Seamus with two of the chicks. Later, a demonic stove spat a ham at Rose, she lost her job because her employers found out she was pregnant and unmarried, Seamus was accidentally somewhat responsible for Don being blinded, and there's some sort of spirit at the SMI writing Seamus' name in fogged glass. Just another typical Rhydin week.

Stephen Valkonan (Stephen Valkonan): Rumor control also reports seeing this young scientist paying a visit to the Silver Moon Inn late Sunday evening. The only news on the whereabouts of this young man are that he has spending a lot of time in his lab working. Though it was good to see him pulling himself out of his cave to venture out and visit with close friends. Relaxing.

Suriel (Thirteenthchange): He was recently seen collecting the soul of a man that was badly mauled by a dragon, and sent it free so that it may reincarnate. Whenever Suriel can, he likes to let spirits with unfinished business return to a new life so that they may try again. Such was the case here.

Sydney and Donatello Harada (SmileFang, DonatalIo Harada): Don and Syd have made more than their own customary public appearance a week, at least. However, they haven't been entirely happy appearances. Late Monday night, Don called the SMI asking Seamus to come home and try fixing the water heater for the school. Seamus did his best, but couldn't budge one leaky valve and called the stronger Don downstairs to help. Don moved the valve all right, but it caused a pipe to explode, spraying his face with hot steam and cooking his retinas, leaving him 100% blind. The couple have made a few appearances at the Inn since, and report that their doctor has told them that, with luck and a few surgeries, Don might regain some sight by November.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Terrance is still out of town.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev DiabIo, Revered Tengu): The good Reverend Tomas Diablo was spotted this weekend on a couple of occassions at the Silver Moon Inn. Rumor control states that he spent some time relating the tale of his whereabouts to his old friend Dris and a teenager by the name of Rei. Our reporters were not able to get the story out of Mr. Diablo or any of those who have heard the tale.

Twelve (The Multifarious): The trollish SMI bouncer is hale and healthy and getting way too interested in the secrets of flight. It is starting to look like merely jumping off buildings and falling to the ground isn't going to be enough for him.

On a completely unrelated topic, he was spotted this weekend at the Silver Moon Inn where he supposedly helped with the deflating of a potentially violent situation. The mysterious Faye Random is said to have appreciated his support in dissuading the angry patron from causing any bodilly harm to any of the other patrons.

Ynik (The Multifarious): The Trandoshan Jedi has been exploring the more desolate regions of Rhydin in an effort to find Jurahsi crystals. No word yet on how successful he's been. Though in breaking news on this precise topic, there is an eyewitness report that Ynik had a visit from the jeweler Anorlas late Sunday evening. It is suspected that the elf may have either found some of these crystals, or at least a suitable substitute.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He was seen out minding his business one fine day when a pair of rather disreputable hosebeasts captured him and hauled him away in a mass of pink netting. He has not been seen since.

Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.

Announcements

This Thursday is a very special day for the pranksters of the multiverse. That's right, it's almost here. April Fool's Day!

Final Thoughts

Updates: Always remember that any future Ubique's Weekly submissions are always due the Sunday before every expected delivery date. UW is issued every Monday morning to afternoon, depending on how long it takes me to put everything together and send it off to the printers. Comments, questions, updates, additions, announcements, advertisements, etceteras are always welcome for every issue. While some may make it to the front page, there is no guarantee that all submissions will be printed. However, your thoughts are always encouraged to be shared. Just remember to send all of these aforementioned things to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than Sunday at midnight EST. I constantly look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.

With that said, let me just take a moment to say WOW! We've hit a milestone in Ubique's Weekly history. Not only are we 32 issues strong and growing, but we've finally hit that point where there won't be so many blank spaces on the page. While I was writing up this week's issued, I discovered that at one point I could not type anymore. So it was that I learned that I had reached my max limit of characters permitted to be typed into a single e-mail. Thusly, I had to cut some things that most of you usually expect to see. My apologies, but it was something that just needed to be done as I previously stated. If things keep progressing as they are, there may come a time in which UW will need to be sent out in not one e-mail, but two! Until then, I'll always continue to be...

Keeping you informed,
--Nefarious SM
