The Blurb

Storyline Spotlight

On the western side of Rhy'Din, on the outer fringe sits two large hills on either side of a shimmering lake, Lake Ecstasy. On the far hill sits a large stone castle, this is the Camale home. On the twin hill sits a series of large marble buildings all clustered together and surrounded by several gardens, orchards, fields, forests and smaller cottages.

This enormous structure is the Temple of Love&Ecstasy, home of the Valtashian cult of Love. Head by the Royal family of Valtash, the Camales. The High Mistress of the temple is Mallora Camale. Her children are the High Priests and Priestesses in this Matriarchal society. There are two temples, one in Valtash and one here in Rhy'Din. As the High Mistress has taken to Rhy'Din and made it her second home.

The inside of this temple never stays the same as the Mistress has varied tastes as the years roll on. However, the basics never change. The entrance to the temple is a large set of wooden doors that lead into an alcove with finely polished marble tile floors decorated with the symbols of Love&Ecstacy.

There are many special rooms within the temple to list them all would take several hours. However, here are a few highlights.

The Library has over ten stories of books and scrolls from several worlds, written in many languages and a few dozen private studies. There are a number of kitchens and dinning rooms to accommodate the hundreds of followers and staff that live within the temple grounds. Among the dozens of gardens are two 'Moon Gardens' which grow plants that can only be found on the Camale's home world of Valtash. Many of the rooms have been created for relaxation and the pursuit of pleasure not to mention the Chapels and prayer rooms for the followers of the Love Goddesses.

Where have all the insects gone?: About three weeks ago, Hmte made a series of suicide attacks upon various Rhydin locations, including the Silver Moon. These attacks seemed rather simplistic, but given the fact that there has been almost no insect activity since, the sudden silence can only be ominous. Previous attacks have been a combination of suicide attacks with food-gathering activities. But these were much more concentrated in their intent - the giant ants just wanted to fight. Hmte has spent a lot of energy in such an effort. One wonders what the return will be for the colony.

In Other News...

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): No news is good news when it comes to a creature like this.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): Still no change here, the blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, is content to remain at present at her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. She continues to worry about her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko) because there's been no word since his last letter detailing orc battles. Ariana made yet another appearance at the Silver Moon Inn recently to look after the place, substituting for a certain inebriated tender. Other than this, working at the bakery and refusing to deliver pastries for that certain tender's shift, the green sister still is in private mourning and is planning to avenge her son's murder.

Arienh Crowther-Driscol (Arienh Driscol): Mostly, the sorceress has been helping her fathers take care of her 'new little brother', Salvador. Or if she hasn't been taking care of him, she's at least been trying to look after him.

Auggy (TSgtBenson): The youthful mechanic is currently recovering from a particularly vicious Konmei technovirus contracted during his recent battle with that alien invasion force. He's being nursed back to health by his girlfriend Irina (Irina Braeden)

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is feeling the call of spring and has been filled with the desire to wander about the land.

Carmine (TaciturnMerc): He is working on helping his son settle in. He is suspicious that his son has been taking off at odd hours of the night to go wandering about. He plans to follow him one of these days and see where it is that he is wandering to.

Carolyn Valkonan (DreamsInBurgundy): After having a rather explosive beginning to the week, she found herself in Rhy'Din! Having been cooped up in a mysterious realm for fourteen years, she spent some time exploring and has managed to make a few friends so far, among them Rei, Salvador, Matakhat, and Irina. Her father Drake 'rescued' her on a Wednesday night and stated that she'd been missing for a year, although she'd been in Rhy'Din only a day.

Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter): The Minotaur bounty hunter is pursuing Parhi for a suspected connection to ravening bands of orcs. She's only wanted in connection with the raids, but Carvenhorn isn't exactly the gentlest of souls to those he captures, even non-violently. So who should we be rooting for...?

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): He is still busy attending to his self appointed duties. He has stopped by every now and then to visit with Vadriel before moving on.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is currently investigating the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson and the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) as well. So far, despite the highly public crime scenes, no witnesses have come forward to testify. The Deputy Marshall recently appeared in public to investigate the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and is currently in consultation with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya made a public appearance at the Silver Moon Inn recently and had an interesting conversation with another medical professional, "Doctor Ritter" (SevastianBraeden). The good Doctor continues to closely supervise landscaping improvements Jack (JackrabbitBlue) is currently involved with on her ranch.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine has definitely stopped making cinnamon rolls and continues to work really hard on her studies. She wants to make her Ma, Da and Unca Don (Donatelio Harada) proud of her and doesn't want Missus Carmichael (MissusCarmichael) mad at her at all! She still misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Empress Emerald of Grayfur is very pleased that Elaine is no longer baking because she is still insistent that she is allergic to flour. She has spending most of her time sunbathing on Elaine's open school books and debating with her sisters who would win a feline beauty pageant.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Gem (Gemethyst, SMI Gem): Gem has been adjusting to the fact that her child was taken, and is now back as a teenager. It has been a very hard adjustment for her, but they are slowly becoming acquainted. She has been involved in bits of trouble here and there, and is currently free of the warrant that was put out in her name, since she went in disguise to a high official and bribed him for a writ of release. She is doing okay. That is all for now.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, Irina's still at her job at Blackjack Adventures, no Metroid or Xeno attacks!, made a few new friends, staying at the Moon or Northedge, down to one bodyguard, nearly lost her boyfriend Auggy, hung out with Papa, told off Mama, got April Fool's Day pranked good at the Moon, still didn't catch the viruses out there yet!, hits the local inns most every night and yet she still finds time to work on the next issue of Bright Suns. All in all, a pretty typical week for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

J (Duncan J Harper): J made an appearance after long last dressed in heavy blue shock armor, very resemblant of the guardsmen that have been surveying Rhydin off and on as of late, completed by a cape of matching blue with green lining and a naginata spear strapped to his back. J didn't really seem to have a specific purpose to his visit. He mostly looked the Silver Moon Inn over, terrorized Dris (BardGaIIant) and Seamus (SMI Seamus) and spoke with Tom (Rev DiabIo) and the Braedens (Larissa Braeden, SevastianBraeden). Just a little old fashioned terror from J, something about atonement for invasion of his territory, a case of gout, monks and a dead body, all the good stuff.

Jade (Irreverent Jade): Delivered a healthy baby boy as of March 20th. However, a group of mysterious men kidnapped the baby (named Alexander Camael Woods) the day after he was born. There was still no change in her demeanor and sanity status until a strange, winged young man claiming to be her son appeared on her doorstep over the weekend. Now, it seems she has woken up...

Joshua (Fashion Error): He has renewed his rooms for another week. He is thinking about expanding his wadrobe and is now flipping through catalogues to get inspiration for the worst possible fashion combinations to assault everyone's senses with.

Jules (Jules Braeden): She recently arrived in town at the urging of her mother to see if she can persuade her little sister to return home, only to find that her little sister has grown to be rather adept at taking care of herself. Now she has a new plan and that is to try and convince their mother that Irina is just fine where she is.

Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain): Cat had been studying vigilantly to be valedictorian at her upcoming graduation from Northedge Academy. Puke-face Peterson, as Cat calls him, was also trying for it. Up until the decision was made, the two have had a running feud. Peterson casting aspersion of nepotism and she getting even by rigging a pudding bomb in his locker. Peterson was finally chosen as valedictorian and it led to him lording it over her, further aggravating the situation by calling her a "loser" in the hall between classes. That caused Cat great embarrassment. Stephen Valkonan, Don's Teacher's Assistant, overheard him and took action.

Long story short, they both got dragged to Don's office and as Dean of Northedge, he gave them both two weeks detention. Cat's NOT happy. It interferes with her secret driving lessons, the ones she hopes to help get her a license with, surprising Don and Syd. Foiled again, but with the help of Stephen and his father's car, she may yet achieve her goal and be driving soon.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): Still out of town on business, though he was seen making a brief stop at some park to quietly speak with a lovely woman who was selling flowers. He bought seven red roses from her and soon departed for points unknown.

Mozart (AmadaeusFelidae): Finding that the strange human creature does not seem to be willing to go away any time soon, he has decided to express his unhappiness by stealing the human creature's socks and other small possessions.

Ophelia (EspressoBlues): She has located several new kinds of chai to add to her menu. Now that spring is here, she has changed her hair color from its previous shade to a vibrant purple with fuscha streaks.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): Somehow, in her draconic researches, Parhi established some kind of connection with the orcish predators responsible for the death of Banshee, Ariana's son. What that connection might be remains a mystery... Despite this, she remains at the Divine Delights Bakery.

Ramiel (Ember Shade): After enduring the hell of red tape and taxation in Rhydin, the former angel's surprise is finally reaching completion. He cannot wait to show Ophelia.

Rei (AmethystStarfall): Gem's child is still missing. The teenage boy that also calls himself Rei is finding that life among the chaos of Rhydin is filled with good fortune. So far he has been given clothes, money to bathe, had his wings treated by a girl called Carolyn, and has even been given a place to sleep in Room 35 of Silver Moon Inn by Tom.

Seamus and Rose (Seamus Wylie, A stray Rose): Well, it was Seamus' birthday on April 1st- poor guy. Apparently, it started off badly- the kid is wearing a fedora these days, thanks to Donatello holding him while Sydney shaved his head. This is, mind you, after he was woken up in the morning by a bucket of icy cold water, flung by Don. More pranks ensued over the course of the day, when he also worked double shifts at the docks before coming to tend at the SMI, which he found largely plastic-wrapped and rigged with jokes. Luckily for him, the biggest joke turned out to be a sort of makeshift surprise birthday party for him, with many friends bringing gifts and Rose showing up bearing a cake. Things turned more serious later in the week, when a mysterious man (Duncan J Harper) turned up to threaten Dris, and Seamus attempted to throw a knife at him. That went badly, but Seamus is unharmed. It also seems that the ghost of the SMI has a name...that name is Halavar.

In surprising but good news, Rose has, with the help of a loan from Morgan, purchased a storefront near the Divine Delights Bakery and is intending to set up a dressmaking shop. Hopefully, this might mean a little more financial stability for the couple.

Stephen Valkonan (Stephen Valkonan): April Fool's Day was his day. He pranked everyone! Jack would be so proud. He even got Donatello and Sydney, which was quite a feat (ask Don about the 'baby' Mustang). Doused Cat with neon pink disappearing ink. Toilet papered Morgan's apartment. His parents and siblings back in Pittsburgh were probably the only ones who didn't get pranked, simply because he did not make it back there until the weekend. His parents saddled him with babysitter duty. He enlisted Cat to help with possible ulterior motives, which were dashed when Morgan's former mentor Nhairis needed refuge over the weekend. Slightly defeated, Stephen let Cat drive Black Sunshine back to Rhydin. He's going to owe his Mustang so many Milky Way bars...

Suriel (Thirteenthchange): He has been seen with his notepad in hand watching how people interact in the marketplace. He did not actually interact with anyone, but simply wrote down his observations to share with his fellows at a later time.

Sydney and Donatello Harada (SmileFang, DonatalIo Harada): Don and Syd have made more than their own customary public appearance a week, at least. However, they haven't been entirely happy appearances. Late Monday night, Don called the SMI asking Seamus to come home and try fixing the water heater for the school. Seamus did his best, but couldn't budge one leaky valve and called the stronger Don downstairs to help. Don moved the valve all right, but it caused a pipe to explode, spraying his face with hot steam and cooking his retinas, leaving him 100% blind. The couple have made a few appearances at the Inn since, and report that their doctor has told them that, with luck and a few surgeries, Don might regain some sight by November.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Still out of town. Someone strongly resembling him was recently seen passing through Limbo en route to Hell, but it must've been someone else. Terrance wouldn't be so stupid as to go twice in six months.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev DiabIo, Revered Tengu): The good Reverend Tomas Diablo was spotted on a couple of occasions at the Silver Moon Inn. Our reporters were not able to get any further information.

Twelve (The Multifarious): Twelve is off questing for yet another ring of flying. Should we be hoping he finds one, or that he doesn't?

Ynik (The Multifarious): The Trandoshan Jedi has been holed up with the angelic librarian, Ava. It seems he's doing research on the Xenomorphs. Could he be planning a reprisal against them? Only time will tell...

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): Rumor has it that a pair of hosebeasts have gone missing and in their place are a pair of rather dimwitted and startled fishermen sporting beer guts and scruffy beards.

Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.
