Storyline Spotlight

Illithids: The Illithid node, quiescent for three weeks, remains so as far as anyone can tell. The observers who keep track of such things were visited earlier this week by agents bearing the identification of the Department of the Exterior (the infamous Men In Plaid) who informed them that the observation of the Illithid node would no longer be necessary. At all. Not even a little bit.

DoX administrator Homer Grimsby was unavailable for comment. However, his assistant Harvey Banks insisted that the agents involved were acting in accordance with standing DoX orders, and had not overstepped the bounds of their legal authority in informing the observers, mostly private parties, that if they continued their surveillance they might invoke unusual nexus activity which would cause their own disappearance without a trace, possibly followed by their reappearance in tiny pieces.

Other agents of the Department who could be reached for comment denied all knowledge of anyone named Harvey Banks, and insisted that Homer Grimsby is assisted only by a staff of secretaries and a limo driver, none of whom are named Banks at all. None of these agents could subsequently be reached for confirmation.

Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): He is still working on damage control. Things are going to get even uglier we fear.

Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): The mysterious right hand to Management has gone back to taking care of business behind the scenes at the Silver Moon Inn.

Alexander Camael Woods (Emerald Mirror): So far, life has stayed quiet for the young nephilim. He's been busy studying lately, in the hopes of being ready when a certain archangel comes for him, despite warnings he's been given. He's a stubborn boy.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): The angel of Weakness and Punishment, having been calmly inhabiting Rhydin for some days now after bizarre circumstances removed him from "home", has finally realized how permanent his self-imposed exile is. Lucky for witnesses Peb (Pebeledd) and Puriel (XIIIParadiseLost) his outburst of grief was only violent to inanimate objects. Much destruction of architecture followed elsewhere.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): Still no change here, the blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, is content to remain at present at her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. She continues to worry about her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko) because there's been no word since his last letter detailing orc battles. Other than working at the bakery and refusing to deliver pastries for a certain tender's shift, the green sister still is in private mourning and is planning to avenge her son's murder.

Auggy (TSgtBenson): Auggy's exploits have earned him many honors on his homeworld and he is looking forward to taking his fiancee to the star system he once called home. Rumor has it that Troy Embry was sent to escort Auggy personally.

Bromaugher The Dimunitive (Bromaugher): No reported sightings this week.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carolyn Valkonan (DreamsinBurgundy): She hasn't been out much, as her studies of Enochian have taken up a great deal of her time.

Carver Mephisto (Carver Mephisto): The Butcher of Old Detroit is still wanted for various murders as well as the Tablesetter murders. Anyone with information about this fugitive from justice are urged to contact authorities immediately. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend this man. Several law enforcement agencies classify Mephisto as the most dangerous man in Rhydin.

Cassiel (Inverted Darkness): He made a quick appearance to the Medieval tavern but was called away to duty just as something wicked that way came.

Chase LeMonde (Chase LeMonde): Is Marshall Chase LeMonde on the take? He was seen exchanging whispers with Colleen while she was tending bar. No one is sure what he stuck under his coat afterward, could he be taking bribes?

Chasz Harvey (Chasz Harvey ): Chasz has been busy purchasing equipment and grooming trails for Blackjack Adventures.

Colleen MacLeod (PrlUnicorn, SMI Colleen): In addition to tending at the Silver Moon two nights a week, Collie has taken a shift behind the bar in the Red Dragon on Fridays at midnight until Saturday 2 am.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): Wednesday night, the Master Fleshtender stepped outside the Silver Moon to check and see whether a crate of fanmail for Irina was enchanted (it wasn't) when he caught sight of the Bird-Legged Hut parked in front of the Inn by a Hag. When he saw it, he seemed enraged at the sight and cast a Rocket spell to leave in a hurry. For some details on where he went, check the entry for Kulkem...

Damon Waters (Damon Waters): The mysterious janitor has been seen around Rhydin lately.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is doing her best to wrap up the investigations on the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) and the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th. She's frustrated in her investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information.

Dechirant and Fayalki (Dechirant, Fayalki): Fayalki and Dey were on hand for the opening of their friends, Beth and Kyo's new inn, The White Hart. They made several new friends, and intend to return soon. Additionally, they met Beth and Kyo's brand new baby daughter, Eve, who is every bit as wonderful as her parents.

In an odd turn of events, the rumors proved to be true about the refurbishing of the Red Dragon Inn, and the rehiring of some of the previous hosts. Fayalki and Dey were both given their name badges back (HOST Game Hunter, HOST Game Dey), and are looking forward to getting familiarized with the new inn management's expectations for the grand reopening.

After a year of having only few quality inns, like the Silver Moon in existence, it is good to know that two more have joined in to give the denizens of Rhy'Din and beyond, a choice of places to go. Or, they can just barhop from one to the next, as Dey suspects some of her family does!

Diana Lasher (Fragile Fury): Commander Lasher of the Misfits has been out of the public eye in recent weeks. Word is she has been seeking out her missing father, AJ Maran, but nothing official has been released.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya has currently locked herself up in her laboratory with regards to certain medical experiments, though she is taking time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that spring is here.

Drake Valkonan (Drake Valkonan): The Scientist has been laid up for a long time with an unspecified ailment, only recently emerging -- and when he did emerge, it was to chase down Alexander Camael Woods -- and *not* the one he was watching...

Dris (Bard GaIIant): Still out of town.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine has absolutely stopped making cinnamon rolls and is glad that school's finally out for the summer! She still misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Lately the Empress Emerald of Grayfur has expressed an intense interest in desiring to prowl and has been seen less and less at home over the past couple of weeks.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Gunnery Sergeant Troy Embry (PersistanceTime): Sgt. Embry has returned to Rhydin to escort Lieutenant Benson back to Avelta Prime for a state ball.

Guthorm (Guthorm Othinsson): The Norskmann has not been seen in town, at the docks, on the crags or on the strand since the fight on that misty end-of-May morning. In the days immediately following the fight, he slept most of the time at Hops House under the watchful eye of his father, but has recently been up for short periods at a time, restless and complaining against confinement. The other day, he took a short walk through the eastern barley field with Aethelstan from Hops House to the MacEwan's Riverhouse. Mytrh has enlisted the entire MacEwan family to thwart Guthorm's efforts to leave the immediate area around the two houses while he recovers from his wounds. Not so difficult yet, but as he heals the whole household expects this task to meet with growing difficulty. Strange thing though, that on occassion, a very young blue-eyed boy with hair the colour of wheat-flour has been glimpsed about the property. No one has been able to "catch" him and speak to him, not even Aethelstan, who believes he might be a lost child from across the river. However, Stan asked Finn if it was him that she saw with the same little boy down near the ferry yesterday. Finn said this morning that he was visiting the magistrate yesterday.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, Irina's working at Blackjack Adventures, made a few new friends, staying at the Moon or Northedge, spending her free time with her boyfriend Auggy, finished school for the semester, remodeling the house she bought with Auggy, spent time with her sister Jules, gotten on RhyDin Datanet News and gotten a lot of fan mail, still didn't catch the viruses out there yet!, hits the local inns most every night and has currently suspended work on the next issue of Bright Suns. All in all, a pretty typical week for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

'Black' Jack Rico (Acez over EightsBlue): There are reports circulating that the Luau Massacre was committed at a party organized by Blackjack Adventures. As a direct response, Mr. Rico is instating better security policies for all BJA-organized parties. In a written statement, a Blackjack Ltd. spokesman said, "We at Blackjack Ltd., and Blackjack Adventures regret the tragedy which occurred during a party organized by our Shoreline Office. We offer our deepest and most sincere sympathies to the families of the men and women who lost their lives. Blackjack Ltd. is currently in negotiations with private security firms to provide security at events organized by Blackjack Ltd. and its subsidiaries. There is no cause for alarm. This kind of tragedy will not happen at any Blackjack Ltd. events."

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Cheated on his bike, Blondie, with Jules's "Electric Mayhem" (he calls it Elly May). This was made necessary by a mail bomb mishap and the subsequent hospital trip. Between Jules (Jules Braeden), babysitting Zohak (ABafflingEnigma) and whatever results in emergency phone calls in early morning that send him rushing off, he can't get bored.

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's also finished training a new barjockey, keeping an eye on his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), has been heard making threats to kill a mysterious Him and learned something rather disturbing about his younger brother. Joker is currently under the expert medical care of the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan).

Jules (Jules Braeden): While at work she got into the swing of opening some boxes that contained various computer parts. Unbeknownst to her one of those boxes did not contain computer parts but something far more dastardly. A short trip to the hospital later, she is back on her feet and at still at work. You just can't keep a good collage student down.

Kakabel (Framework Memento): Oh where, oh where has Kakabel gone? Oh where, oh where could he be?

Kulkem (Kulkem): Shortly after Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned took off from the Silver Moon Inn, he appeared at the estate of Kulkem, his fellow Archmage, and in a fit of pique somehow enlisted his help in getting his tower back. Lila Starfire (Lila Starfire): Work has kept her busy. Through his foster mother, Lila learned of Morgan Knight's absence. She is curious about the details and wants to come to Rhy'Din to see if there is anything she can do, but has been helping her uncle by playing hostess to a mysterious gentleman suddenly arrived in Pittsburgh. Time will tell if she has a chance to escape or not.

Little Old Lady (Lil Ol Lady Huu): Hoohoo! Sich a racket ye be makin' outside my hut! And who should be askin' the Old Lady so many questions, eh? So pryin', so pickin'... a reporter, are yer? Well, that 'splains that, then. An' what does yer wants ter be when yer grows up, eh? Eeeh?

     Me hut? It's been walkin' the roads fer as long as it's been a hut, that's all. Yes, yes, I did bid it teh set itself down in front o' the Silver Moon... what o' that? It's got to rest sometime, an' besides it jostles somethin' fierce when it histes itself up on them chicken legs an' rambles around. Gets so an Old Lady can't cook her vittles, eh? Best it stays put fer a spell.
     A spell! Eh? Stays put fer a spell? Hooooooohhooohoohoohooohooohoo!
     What kinder spell? Not sayin'. Hmf.
     Who am I? I be Huu, who else? Little Huu, kindly Huu, who dersn't git out like she did in younger days - ah, the privations of the aged, yer can't know, young as ye are. Ah, but nowadays I gets about some! Eh? Has meself a spot of fun, I do! Some manflesh is good fer the eye, eh? And some fer the tongue, too!      But this Silver Moon, eh? It has rules, doesn't it? They won't let an Old Lady cook proper vittles in there, eh? Only lets me eat them dead foods, an' there be such delicious livin' foods walkin' around, talkin' o' this 'n that... Well, I kin always git a spot on 'em on the outside, on the cloudier nights, eh? Ehh?

Mallora (Ma11ora): She, along with her daughter Valleana, will be out of town for the next few weeks.

Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain ): Matakhat graduated Northedge Academy last Sunday. For a graduation present, Don and Syd gave her a brand new purple VW Bug convertible, which she's seen zipping around the streets of Rhydin in. Top down. Music blaring. An occasional garbage can gets hurt in the process, but so far no fatalities.

It was also made known to her this week that she was formally adopted by the Haradas. She is now officially and joyfully calling herself Matakhat Cain-Harada.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mer Harris (Heavy Metal Mer): A certain job has the Adept a bit nervous, but for the moment, she has her hands full dealing with the recent disappearance of a certain playboy from the Rambling Rose Tavern.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Fresh back from his kidnapping, Mesteno has been taking time to recover at home, and concentrate on his studies rather than socialising. The week would have been a calm anomaly in his otherwise rowdy lifestyle, had it not been for a run-in with three hellhounds which his friend James, a lycanthrope decided to do battle with to protect his friends. Mesteno, perhaps unwisely, chose to help and ended up with some severe burns, necessitating a trip to Vadriel's for some repairs.

Miguel (Rev Diablo): Miguel has been running the dojo while Rev has dealt with the local mob problem. With matters settled, the dojo has reopened and Miguel has been left in charge. He is also preparing for the Rhydin Galactic Championships where he will compete in free fighting, weapons, forms, musical forms, and self-defense demonstration. Let's all wish Miguel luck as he prepares for this prestigious tournament.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintofSinners): As ever, he is taking care of business. Some things never change, just the reasoning behind them.

Morgan Knight (Morgan Rampage): He's mysteriously disappeared from the Rambling Rose Tavern.

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): He is begining to question his motives of getting rid of the strange invader. After all, he does not seem to be so bad.

Neko (Ji'budoka Neko): Ariana's heartson (once known as Pup) has finally contacted Ariana via letter. Ariana has yet to disclose the contents of the letter.

P. Nigel Harker (Peter N Harker): Nige has not been seen since he made certain insinuations to his brother. What those insinuations were are known only to The Silver Moon Inn's own Joker.

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): What!? No missing cat posters!?

Ramiel (Ember Shade): He looked over his journal this week. He's a bit disturbed at the fact that he's losing, or has lost, so much of his memory, and has come to a decision to 'not waste time', whatever that may mean.

Rachael MacLeod (Rachael MacLeod): Commander Lasher of the Misfits has been out of the public eye in recent weeks. Word is she has been seeking out her missing father, AJ Maran, but nothing official has been released.

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): He recently moved out of the Silver Moon Inn and into a small apartment. Currently his biggest worries are the crazy archangel that wants to kill his friends, and perhaps him as well as whatever strange troubles his mother might be getting into right now.

Rhiannon D. Brock (Rhiannon D. Brock): Rhi has been seen recently chatting up Joker and his brother, Nige. She was overheard asking Joker if he was looking to hire a bodyguard, but did not disclose the name of the friend on vacation from their regular job.

Robin (Robin Kalahola): In a telecom interview, Robin expressed great enthusiasm for the summer season. With temperatures reaching record highs all over Rhydin, it's a sure bet people will be flocking to the beaches. Robin and his employer invite everyone to visit Blackjack Adventures' Shoreline Office to schedule expert guided aquatic recreation.

Stephen Valkonan (Stephen Valkonan): Even with school at Northedge being out, Stephen seems to have been scarce. Part of that is likely due to Morgan Knight's recent disappearance, as for the moment, Stephen is taking care of both the young man's car and his pets. Or perhaps he's just buried himself in his lab?

Suliss'urn (AShadow0fMe): Still no news on the whereabouts of the abducted drowess.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): No news this week. He has stopped hanging around motorcycle dealerships.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev Diablo, Revered Tengu): Rev is still on hiatus with his girlfriend, Cadence. The two are enjoying some much-needed time away from the chaos of Rhydin. Those needing to contact Rev can do so through Miguel (Rev Diabio).

Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The ex-priest turned doctor has been enjoying something of an ebb in working hours now that the warmer weather is here, and had spent most of his time at home with his spook swarm. However, he was forced to leave the sanctuary of his abode in order to tend to a certain sadist and his friend after they were injured during a fight with a group of hellhounds.

Valleana (Va11eana):She, along with Mistress Mallora, is out of town for the next few weeks.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): ::Gasp!:: There is no news on the kitsune?! That is never a good sign.

Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): Now that he has learned how to read, he is spending lots of time in the library. There is a whole other world out there to explore in the realm of books, and he finds it quite fascinating.
