Storyline Spotlight

Illithids: The Illithid node, quiescent for three weeks, remains so as far as anyone can tell. The observers who keep track of such things were visited earlier this week by agents bearing the identification of the Department of the Exterior (the infamous Men In Plaid) who informed them that the observation of the Illithid node would no longer be necessary. At all. Not even a little bit.

DoX administrator Homer Grimsby was unavailable for comment. However, his assistant Harvey Banks insisted that the agents involved were acting in accordance with standing DoX orders, and had not overstepped the bounds of their legal authority in informing the observers, mostly private parties, that if they continued their surveillance they might invoke unusual nexus activity which would cause their own disappearance without a trace, possibly followed by their reappearance in tiny pieces.

Other agents of the Department who could be reached for comment denied all knowledge of anyone named Harvey Banks, and insisted that Homer Grimsby is assisted only by a staff of secretaries and a limo driver, none of whom are named Banks at all. None of these agents could subsequently be reached for confirmation.

Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): He is still working on damage control. Things are going to get even uglier we fear.

Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): The mysterious right hand to Management has gone back to taking care of business behind the scenes at the Silver Moon Inn.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): Has met still more interesting people and learned more interesting things in his work as Mithril's bodyguard, though he misses smiting the wicked. Maybe next week he can get his smite on.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): Still no change here, the blue sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and son Brion, is content to remain at present at her husband's clan lands with her twin sister and her immediate family.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Even though she recently received a letter from her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko) , she still worries about him. Despite her ongoing feud with a certain tender at the Silver Moon Inn, Ariana continues to deliver pastries for his shift after his recent collapse. Other than working at the bakery, the green sister still is in private mourning and is planning to avenge her son's murder.

Bromaugher The Dimunitive (Bromaugher): No reported sightings this week.

Caife (SMI Multifarious): The new Coffee Machine Golem has remained inert for the last week. Well, outwardly anyway. Caife hasn't made any service calls, which might be for the best.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter): Failed to acquire Jinx's services as a prankster for his maze. Might have to make do with some imps...

Carver Mephisto (Carver Mephisto): The Butcher of Old Detroit is still wanted for various murders as well as the Tablesetter murders. Anyone with information about this fugitive from justice are urged to contact authorities immediately. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend this man. Several law enforcement agencies classify Mephisto as the most dangerous man in Rhydin.

Chasz Harvey (Chasz Harvey ): Chasz has been busy purchasing equipment and grooming trails for Blackjack Adventures.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): Recently, the Master Fleshtender stepped outside the Silver Moon to check and see whether a crate of fanmail for Irina was enchanted (it wasn't) when he caught sight of the Bird-Legged Hut parked in front of the Inn by a Hag. When he saw it, he seemed enraged at the sight and cast a Rocket spell to leave in a hurry. For some details on where he went, check the entry for Kulkem...

Damon Waters (Damon Waters): The mysterious janitor has been seen around Rhydin lately.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is doing her best to wrap up the investigations on the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) and the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th. She's frustrated in her investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information.

Dechirant and Fayalki (Dechirant, Fayalki): Dey and Fayalki did their first Red Dragon Inn shift together in over a year, this Friday past. With between 11 and 20 others in the room, they were kept busy. Dey managed fairly well, with only one drink order getting confused.

Past friends: Cairo (Cairo Trfalgar), Laurel (Laurelleaves), Darkmere (DarkmereAlcar), Gem (Gemethyst), Sir Robert (Sr Robert Grail), Lucius (LuciusdeAustr) and Woody (WoodySprite) arrived for drinks and company. The fabulous Collie (HOST Game Collie) took over at host after Dey (HOST Game Dey) and Fayalki (HOST Game Hunter) finished.

Newly met friends: an enigmatic lady who smoked and looked rather dangerous (Jupiter v Jazz), Franky with the very expressive claws (PriestessFrankie), a red-haired dwarf wearing horns (Jjsnsnake), the wine taster (RICAU5)--he even tried peppermint wine!, the lady with pretty pink hair (Raggold) and the young lady Yigi (Yiginaru Samatae) who enjoys tea.

There was even a rumor that Grail's evil stew might be returning--beware!

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya has currently locked herself up in her laboratory with regards to certain medical experiments, though she is taking time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that spring is here.

Drake Valkonan (Drake Valkonan): The Scientist is up and around again after being out of commission for unexplained and downright mysterious reasons.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): Still out of town.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine has absolutely stopped making cinnamon rolls and is glad that school's finally out for the summer! She still misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Lately the Empress Emerald of Grayfur has expressed an intense interest in desiring to prowl and has been seen less and less at home over the past couple of weeks.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Fury (ReversedHaIo): She's been missing, maybe not missing, but she definitely hasn't been seen in months. Her business is closed tight and the lights are off at her home. If Fury isn't here, then where is she?

Hmte (Invasion of Hmte): Oddly, Hmte has gone back underground. One can only assume this is in preparation for something big...

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, there's no news of note for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's also finished training a new barjockey, keeping an eye on his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), has been heard making threats to kill a mysterious Him and learned something rather disturbing about his younger brother. Joker is currently under the expert medical care of the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan).

Jules (Jules Braeden): Thanks to an act of vandalism, her beloved Harley is in the shop and she is stuck riding a rental Yamaha. She vows to find out who did this to her bike and deliver a little payback as well as force whomever is responsable to pay for the damages.

Kakabel (Framework Memento): Oh where, oh where has Kakabel gone? Oh where, oh where could he be?

Kulkem (Kulkem): Shortly after Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned took off from the Silver Moon Inn, he appeared at the estate of Kulkem, his fellow Archmage, and in a fit of pique somehow enlisted his help in getting his tower back. For some of the details on how he managed this - and why he himself is a little confused as to why Kulkem assented - review The Plea to Kulkem.

Recently, Kulkem showed up at the Silver Moon Inn for a little nightcap. He was relaxed enough for a couple of hours, then got up and dashed out the door, carefully avoiding the Hag's Hut. His behaviour remains unexplained, but might have been something along the lines of a recon mission.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker and counter help at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Miguel (Rev Diablo): Miguel has been running the dojo while Rev has dealt with the local mob problem. With matters settled, the dojo has reopened and Miguel has been left in charge. He is also preparing for the Rhydin Galactic Championships where he will compete in free fighting, weapons, forms, musical forms, and self-defense demonstration. Let's all wish Miguel luck as he prepares for this prestigious tournament.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintofSinners): He has been going out more in public and is now working on finally tying up some loose ends. He recently met with Gem again and found that she is not hostile towards him. He is quite relieved and is once more concentrating on various buisness affairs.

Morgan Knight (Morgan Rampage): Morgan has been successfully rescued from captivity, but the experience left its marks. With his sword back, the marks are no longer evident on his body, but his mind and heart are another matter entirely...

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): He is begining to question his motives of getting rid of the strange invader. After all, he does not seem to be so bad.

Neko (Ji'budoka Neko): Ariana's heartson (once known as Pup) has finally contacted Ariana via letter. Ariana has yet to disclose the contents of the letter.

P. Nigel Harker (Peter N Harker): Nige has not been seen since he made certain insinuations to his brother. What those insinuations were are known only to The Silver Moon Inn's own Joker.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): She has been getting a little more sociable. Managed to refrain from actually ripping off someone's body parts on two consecutive nights at the SMI.

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): What!? No missing cat posters!?

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): He was given a letter by his mother inviting him to move in with her. He is now thinking over that decision.

Rekah (): She's back from a daring, well maybe not really daring adventure on the high seas. Okay, so maybe it wasn't the high seas so much as a really big pond. All right! It wasn't even a pond. It was a bathtub. Rekah had a bath this week, mark your calenders! The crazy girl is clean-thanks in part to the nuns at St.Catherine of Sienna's Convent. Be expecting an appearance sometime in the near future. She has so much to tell everyone.

Robin (Robin Kalahola): In a telecom interview, Robin expressed great enthusiasm for the summer season. With temperatures reaching record highs all over Rhydin, it's a sure bet people will be flocking to the beaches. Robin and his employer invite everyone to visit Blackjack Adventures' Shoreline Office to schedule expert guided aquatic recreation.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Terry's back to visiting the SMI now as often as he can manage between his alchemical works and other projects.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev Diablo, Revered Tengu): Rev is still on hiatus with his girlfriend, Cadence. The two are enjoying some much-needed time away from the chaos of Rhydin. Those needing to contact Rev can do so through Miguel (Rev Diabio).

Twelve (The Multifarious): A gnome has spent some few days attempting to teach Twelve how to use a computer. The half-troll has successfully learned that the monitor is not a load bearing structure, the keyboard is not intended to be disassembled, and the tower is not offering something edible when it extends the DVD tray.

Valleana (Va11eana): She will remain in Valtash for another week or so.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): ::Gasp!:: There is no news on the kitsune?! That is never a good sign.
