Storyline Spotlight

Illithids: From what anyone can tell at extreme long range, it looks like whoever is doing something at the ancient illithid node is having houseguests. The identity and activities of these visitors - or new inmates? It's hard to tell - are entirely unknown.

In possibly unrelated news, a shadowy figure has been spotted near the observers of the node. Cloaked, hooded, gloved and just terribly overdressed for the summer, this figure seems to be interested in the observers themselves, but refuses to converse or even stay still for a look over, disappearing into a space-time portal when approached. It's goals and nature are unknown, but those with the inside info relate it to the entity spotted conversing amiably with the archmage Kulkem. (see character update below)

Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): Having completed phase one of his plans, he is now moving onto phase two.

Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): The mysterious right hand to Management has gone back to taking care of business behind the scenes at the Silver Moon Inn.

Alexander Camael Woods (Terra Nephilim): Nothing new in the half-angel's life.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): As Mithril is not going anywhere to need bodyguarding lately, he has a lot of free time. He has been spending it with Jules Braeden.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister was begged by her twin Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren) to help with the catering for Rose and Seamus' (A Stray Rose, Seamus Wylie) upcoming wedding. Arianna will be glad when the rush is over so she can return to her husband's clan lands and rejoin her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and her son Brion.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Ariana recently made a few public appearances, most notably looking after the Silver Moon Inn, talking about upcoming wedding catering plans with Rose (A Stray Rose) and her son Banshee's death with Parhi (The Multifarious). The green sister is currently mobilizing the entire Divine Delights Bakery staff into high production for the upcoming wedding feast. Other than these appearances and working at the bakery, Ariana still is in private mourning and continues to plot to avenge her son's murder.

Bromaugher The Dimunitive (Bromaugher): No reported sightings this week.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carmine (Taciturn Merc): The mercenary continues to collect back pay from those that owe the Silver Moon Inn money.

Carver Mephisto (Carver Mephisto): The Butcher of Old Detroit is still wanted for various murders as well as the Tablesetter murders. Anyone with information about this fugitive from justice are urged to contact authorities immediately. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend this man. Several law enforcement agencies classify Mephisto as the most dangerous man in Rhydin.

Chasz Harvey (Chasz Harvey ): Chasz has still been busy purchasing equipment and grooming trails for Blackjack Adventures.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): There has been a development at the Master Fleshtender's tower. It's hard to tell about details, but there was definitely a lot of noise coming from there over the last few days, and the 'luggage carrier' that brought his stuff to the Silver Moon Inn was seen taking his stuff out again. Looks like he might have his old digs back. See the entry for Kulkem for more details.

Damon Waters (Damon Waters): The mysterious janitor has been seen around Rhydin lately.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is doing her best to wrap up the investigations on the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) and the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th. She's frustrated in her investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Though Maranya has currently locked herself up in her laboratory with regards to certain medical experiments, she is taking more time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that summer is here and she has also made a few public appearances at the Rambling Rose Tavern recently.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): Still out of town.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine's helping her Mama with the wedding feast plans for her Unca Seamus and Aunty Rose. The ten year old has been enlisted to help create the multitudes of marzipan flowers for the wedding cakes and she's looking forward to eating the rejects. Elaine really misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Lately the Empress Emerald of Grayfur has expressed an intense interest in desiring to prowl and has been seen less and less at home over the past couple of weeks.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Guthorm (Guthorm Othinsson): Isn't it a saying in Common that bad luck runs in threes? If not a common saying in Common, then maybe it was from the Norns. Either way and so it seems to have rubbed itself off on the Norskmann. First the fight with Freystyr and the ill-begotten sword wound through the ribs and then, finally he was fairly over the bout with resulting pneumonia and wandering around the river's border on Angus' land, helping a little the brothers of Finn. Odd jobs. Seems the third turn of fate was forgotten as he built strength pumping the fire for Duncan's forge on occassion, sparring harder with Finn and brewing with Keane. And doing a little bit of yokework for a stranger come from North of the river and over the ferry when the man's horses startled and took off, toppling and dragging the Viking between the wagon wheels. It will be a glorious day when his luck turns for the better. In the meantime, he is working on healing scrapes and buises, a gash in his head, another nasty concussion and a badly dislocated shoulder.

Guthorm (A Towheaded Kid): Easy to call up and hard to put down, the kid is stubbornly wandering the town streets, the dunes and the docks. He gets along fairly well in his second language, Common, give or take some misplaced words and misunderstandings. He has made some good friends along the way and many he admires. With luck, no one who speaks Common will probe him about himself and a certain Norskmann who apparently bears the same name. He tried to explain it once, in his own language too, but he is wise now and knows no one will believe him anyway.

Hmte (Invasion Of Hmte): Those who keep track of such things say the colony of giant ants has been concentrating it's efforts in digging. Thefts and attacks have been kept to a minimum, but it is far too early to tell whether or not this is an encouraging development.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, there's no news of note for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Jim stayed in all week. Exciting!

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's still keeping an eye on his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), has been heard making threats to kill a mysterious Him and learned something rather disturbing about his younger brother. Joker is currently undergoing anger management counseling along with his usual medical treatments from the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan) and appears to have a new romantic interest in his life, Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock).

Jules (Jules Braeden): Apparently she caught the flu herself and has been keeping out of the public eye until she feels better.

Kakabel (Framework Memento): Oh where, oh where has Kakabel gone? Oh where, oh where could he be?

Kulkem (Kulkem): After The Plea to Kulkem Kulkem went into seclusion with his fellow archmage for a time. This was broken over the course of the last few days when Kulkem departed his home concurrent with a rather loud series of disturbances at Cryptopakolips' tower. It is starting to look like the tower has been reclaimed, but the story has not yet been told.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): The shy relief baker has been pressed into high gear service at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery with a huge and short notice catering job. But will she ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): Recovering from the stress of the past couple of weeks, Mesteno has been taking things easy, but unfortunately seems to be drinking again as a result of his inability to handle everything. The alcoholic has also been seen at a drag queen bar, having finally tracked down his ex-husband, and managed to retrieve a confidential file from him which has now left Mesteno as a target for various unpleasant organisations. In typical, responsible Mesteno fashion, he's decided to solve that problem by going on vacation to Torrita in Italy.

Miguel (Rev Diablo): Miguel has been running the dojo while Rev has dealt with the local mob problem. With matters settled, the dojo has reopened and Miguel has been left in charge. He is also preparing for the Rhydin Galactic Championships where he will compete in free fighting, weapons, forms, musical forms, and self-defense demonstration. Let's all wish Miguel luck as he prepares for this prestigious tournament.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintofSinners): He is still recovering from the results of the magical trap and is keeping a very low profile until he is feeling better. The good reporters at this publication have been quite unable to learn what the magical trap did to him, aside from it being dire indeed.

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): He is still watching the strange human invader that Carmine brought home.

Neko (Ji'budoka Neko): Ariana's heartson (once known as Pup) has finally contacted Ariana via letter. Ariana has yet to disclose the contents of the letter.

P. Nigel Harker (Peter N Harker): Nige has not been seen since he made certain insinuations to his brother. What those insinuations were are known only to The Silver Moon Inn's own Joker.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): At last the cause of her recent coldly wrathful demeanor has become clear. In her search for the powers inherent to her draconic ancestry, she awakened the infamous draconic pride. It went unnoticed until Parhi began to recall her own fears and imperfections in an effort to comfort a patron of the SMI who was having a mild phobic reaction. Afterwards, she went through a purgatory of self-examination. It's hard to tell, but she might be mending...

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): What!? No missing cat posters!?

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): He made the choice to move into the manor with his mother. Now he just has to tell his uncle Orrie and invite him to move there with him as it turns out that he is welcome as well.

Robin (Robin Kalahola): In a telecom interview, Robin expressed great enthusiasm for the summer season. With temperatures reaching record highs all over Rhydin, it's a sure bet people will be flocking to the beaches. Robin and his employer invite everyone to visit Blackjack Adventures' Shoreline Office to schedule expert guided aquatic recreation.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Still sequestered with Mithril while they deal with the effects of Ahriman's trap.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev Diablo, Revered Tengu): Rev is still on hiatus with his girlfriend, Cadence. The two are enjoying some much-needed time away from the chaos of Rhydin. Those needing to contact Rev can do so through Miguel (Rev Diabio).

Twelve (The Multifarious): Yet another space-time warp put him in strange circumstances; he managed to borrow a cup of sugar from a cyclops, and gratified the witch who was trying to build a gingerbread house so that she made him one with his magical blanket, thus making him entirely immune to fire. As if that weren't enough, he swallowed a shape-shifting fish, whose odd biology combined with his own to give him gills. The underwater orchards of the coral-fruit gave him bio-laminate armor plating, and the cephalopod symbiote made his skin color changing for camouflage. His nerves, stimulated by the alterations, began to grow in complexity and mass, thus giving him super-enhanced senses, and the fiery coruscations of the deep-sea vents at the oceans floor gifted him with vast energy manipulation powers...

...then he woke up and realized it was all a dream, brought on by eating rotten oranges after the virtual-reality disaster. Oh well. Those golden apples looked like they were still good...

Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The good doctor, and resident Spook Magnet has been out in public again, accompanied by his hordes of spirit companions. A trip to one tavern had him aiding a rather weak-hearted jogger who collapsed on the steps, and sending spooks on errands to put a stop to a certain Sinjin's mischief with handcuffs!

Ynik (TheMultifarious):Reports indicate that he is back in Rhydin City proper, but his activities remain obscure.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He recently got in trouble for vandalizing some library books. He was whiting out all of the quotation marks, and adding double colons around unspoken actions. Nobody knows why, and he skipped out of the library before providing any sort of explanation.

Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): Every day is a learning experience for this one. He made friends with a dingo the other night and learned a great deal about how society works from him.
