"Dear Friends,

The Nefarious SM has good news. As of last night (Sunday, July 18, 2004) I have returned to the "digital lands ot the living." Thanks go out to the comrade in arms who provided me with that quote. It took a lot longer than I expected, but I have officially returned. During the long time that I've been gone someone gone and neglected to sort out the heaping mass of paperwork on my desk, so don't get too excited. There's a lot of work I need to get done before I'll be able to sit back and enjoy the play that I've missed out on. I'm extremely deprived, but I'm happy to be back. As soon as I get free time on my hands again, I'll be able to join in on the festivities as I did in force long before.

Bad news is I'm back on this wretched dial-up. But that's nothing next to the good news. My account is still active! Woohoo! As you can see, this week's issue comes out to you all from the hands of my very helpful and loyal Interim Editor AG. This will be the last newsletter from her for the time being. As of next week's edition, I'll be taking charge again. Hopefully I remember how to do it all! The most that I can say in my excitement is that it's great to be back. As soon as I can think up some excuses for my characters' absences, I'll include them in the newsletter. Until then, I hope none of you assumed they all just dropped off the face of the earth. Or... Rhy'Din as it were. Hehehe. Thank you all for maintaining the faith in collaboration during my absence. I'll see you all in rooms very soon.

Storyline Spotlight

Illithids: The 'residents' all seem to be settled in. Oddly, there were signs of digging or heavy excavation for a little while, but this stopped suddenly, just before the debris from a large number of giant ants was deposited topside. This might explain the activity of Hmte, the giant ant colony. Otherwise, no new developments.

Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): He is still currently at work on Phase Two of his plan.

Aldous the Axe (SMI Axe): The mysterious right hand to Management has gone back to taking care of business behind the scenes at the Silver Moon Inn.

Alexander Camael Woods (Terra Nephilim): Nothing new in the half-angel's life.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): Needless to say Mithril's bodyguard is still very busy and more than a little on edge. Woe to anything that gives him the opportunity to vent his frustrations, like an unfortunate Crite.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister helped with the catering for Rose and Seamus' (Katie Rose Wylie, Seamus Wylie) wedding. Arianna is glad that the rush is over and she will soon return to her husband's clan lands and rejoin her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and her son Brion.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Ariana recently made a few public appearances, most notably looking after the Silver Moon Inn and attending Rose and Seamus' wedding (Katie Rose Wylie, Seamus Wylie). The green sister mobilized the entire Divine Delights Bakery staff into high production for the wedding feast. Other than these appearances and working at the bakery, Ariana still is in private mourning and continues to plot to avenge her son's murder.

Bromaugher The Dimunitive (Bromaugher): No reported sightings this week.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carver Mephisto (Carver Mephisto): The Butcher of Old Detroit is still wanted for various murders as well as the Tablesetter murders. Anyone with information about this fugitive from justice are urged to contact authorities immediately. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend this man. Several law enforcement agencies classify Mephisto as the most dangerous man in Rhydin.

Chasz Harvey (Chasz Harvey ): Chasz has still been busy purchasing equipment and grooming trails for Blackjack Adventures.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): It is now official; Cryptopakolips has his tower back. He is going to be occupied for a while repairing the damage inflicted by the intruders, so he won't be around. Thank heavens for small blessings. See the entry for Kulkem for more details.

Damon Waters (Damon Waters): The mysterious janitor has been seen around Rhydin lately.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is doing her best to wrap up the investigations on the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) and the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th. She's frustrated in her investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information.

Dechirant and Fayalki (Dechirant, Fayalki):Dey and Fayalki have been putting in a lot of hours at the newly refurbished Red Dragon Inn, both as hosts and as patrons. Excitement has been building over the sightings of many venerable luminaries who seem to be slowly returning to Rhy'Din.
They were glad to hear from Shy (NorseLady) that Guthorm was healing from his severe battle injuries.
Lady Sun and everyone's favorite incubus, Larook, kept things warm in the inn without being anywhere near the hearth!
Lady Beth and Kyo were seen recently speaking with one of the longest residents of the inn, Panther. It is our fervent wish that things for all three of them take a turn for the better. Also, for those who haven't had the chance, be sure to ask for directions to Beth and Kyo's White Hart Inn, which we can highly recommend.
Lady Belial, Onyx, William and Tara have been noticed on several occasions. Dey personally believes that they are bringers of good luck, for when they enter the inn, the room always seems to calm down.
Off course, the presence of Doze and Woody the sprite are always welcome sights!
Dey was able to get a contract for an excellent supplier for some of the inn's drinks, thanks to the efforts of Estaria Torra.
In an odd development, the UnFairyGodmother has been presenting her card at the inn, which describes her rather unsavory plans for those orphan children who wander aimlessly through the inn at times.
More oddness (this is Rhy'Din after all!), but a chair and a frying pan seem to have behaved with a bit more...sentience than one would normally ascribe to those items.
Thankfully, the chair was not related to the EvilChair that had an almost two year long reign of terror in the inn--just ask anyone who was present back then about the splinters!
Of course there are many others, whom she does not as yet know their names, but Dey and Fayalki both hope they will have a chance to meet one day and count among their friends. You're welcome to join them any time

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Though Maranya has currently locked herself up in her laboratory with regards to certain medical experiments, she is taking more time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that summer is here and she has also made at least one public appearance at the Rambling Rose Tavern recently.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): Still out of town.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine helped her Mama with the wedding feast for her Unca Seamus and Aunty Rose. The ten year old got to eat a lot of rejected marzipan flowers. She also had a late night exploration expedition recently, ending up at the Rambling Rose Tavern with her new friend Salvador (Peculiar Silence) and getting chased home by her Mama's employee Yee (Yeehaw M Kikass). Elaine really misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Lately the Empress Emerald of Grayfur has expressed an intense interest in desiring to prowl and has been seen less and less at home over the past couple of weeks.

Erasimus Greene (PersistanceTime): There is still no news on the crazy gnome.

Gem (Gemethyst, SMI Gem): Gem has begun the remodeling on her manor's third floor. The plans are drawn to give Rei a suite of rooms to include a room for Orrie, a guest room, kitchen, sparring room, bathroom and other amenities. She is very excited that he will be living with her. She is currently off with Cianan, though, and they are attempting to capture her father, the evil drow cleric that was planning to sacrifice her to Lloth.

Hmte (Invasion Of Hmte): The digging has stopped, mostly. There is activity - Hmte's territory is a bad place to be a rabbit - but Hmte seems to be waiting. It is unclear for what.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, there's no news of note for this native Rhydin resident. Stay tuned.

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Whatever was threatening him, he has decided it is not worth living in hiding and will not be doing so from now on. Too many people to pester and roads to conquer.

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's still keeping an eye on his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), has been heard making threats to kill a mysterious Him and learned something rather disturbing about his younger brother. Joker is currently undergoing anger management counseling along with his usual medical treatments from the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan) and appears to have a new romantic interest in his life, Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock).

Jules (Jules Braeden): There are rumors that she is dating an angel, a biker, and perhaps even a sailor. Nobody knows for sure. She is also having to deal with these things called Crites as well as some assorted projects of her own that she is being rather secretive about.

Kakabel (Framework Memento): Oh where, oh where has Kakabel gone? Oh where, oh where could he be?

Kulkem (Kulkem): After the restoration of Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned to his tower, an effort begun in The Plea to Kulkem the archmage came to the Silver Moon and had a little sit-down with Ariana about recent events. It seems the reason Cryptopakolips went berserk at the sight of the Hag's Walking Hut currently parked in front of the Silver Moon is that the hut is his. That is, a biomantic product of Pako's own laboratories. It's not his work, though - he says it's some kind of rush job, short lifespan, high appetite even when it's resting, possibly other defects as well. It is less than three months old, and how it came to be in the possession of the Hag Huu (Lil Ol Lady Huu) is a bit of a mystery, as is why...

Mallora (Ma11ora): She, along with her daughter Valleana (Va11eana) will be in and out of the realm for the next few months.

Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain): Cat's been busy with Rose and Seamus's wedding, helping with the bridal shower and the general chaos of the days before a wedding. Also, getting ready for her first semester of college, babysitting Don and Syd's newest ward, James, a young toddler, and still working on trying to get back ownership of her father's childhood home, Bellecrest.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): The shy relief baker is recovering from her high gear service at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery with regards to a huge and short notice catering job. But will she ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mervyn (Vicious Mervyn): Still relentlessly guarding the till at the Silver Moon Inn.

Miguel (Rev Diablo): Miguel has been running the dojo while Rev has dealt with the local mob problem. With matters settled, the dojo has reopened and Miguel has been left in charge. He is also preparing for the Rhydin Galactic Championships where he will compete in free fighting, weapons, forms, musical forms, and self-defense demonstration. Let's all wish Miguel luck as he prepares for this prestigious tournament.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintofSinners): Word finally reached our intrepid reporters about the details of the trap that Ahriman sprung on this shady character. Mithril was made mortal. Flesh, blood, beating heart, and ::gasp:: even aging. It is unknown at this point what will be done about this.

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): He is beginning to question his motives of getting rid of the strange invader. After all, he does not seem to be so bad.

Neko (Ji'budoka Neko): Ariana's heartson (once known as Pup) has finally contacted Ariana via letter. Ariana has yet to disclose the contents of the letter.

P. Nigel Harker (Peter N Harker): Nige has not been seen since he made certain insinuations to his brother. What those insinuations were are known only to The Silver Moon Inn's own Joker.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): In an effort to reclaim some semblance of her previous compassionate character, Parhi has decided to start her own investigation into the death of Ariana's son Banshee. Wish her luck.

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): What!? No missing cat posters!?

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): He and his uncle Cheriour are working on packing up their things for a move. Rei very badly wants to destroy his uncle's telephone as it will not quit ringing.

Robin (Robin Kalahola): In a telecom interview, Robin expressed great enthusiasm for the summer season. With temperatures reaching record highs all over Rhydin, it's a sure bet people will be flocking to the beaches. Robin and his employer invite everyone to visit Blackjack Adventures' Shoreline Office to schedule expert guided aquatic recreation.

Suriel (ThirteenthChange) He made a brief stop to another world to help with the transition of a very powerful spirit. More than that, he would not say.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Terry has been staying in with Mithril while they continue to deal with the disturbing consequences of Ahriman's trap. It has turned out to be a blessing that he is such a good cook.

Tomas Dante Diablo (Rev Diablo, Revered Tengu): Rev is still on hiatus with his girlfriend, Cadence. The two are enjoying some much-needed time away from the chaos of Rhydin. Those needing to contact Rev can do so through Miguel (Rev Diabio).

Twelve (The Multifarious): Ate golden apples. Now he has a tummy ache. Turns out they were golden crabapples. A half-troll, half-hobgoblin with a week-long tummy ache. Watch out.

Valleana (Va11eana): She, along with her mother Mallora (Ma11ora) will be in and out of the realm for the next few months.

Ynik (TheMultifarious):Reports indicate that he is back in Rhydin City proper, but his activities remain obscure.

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He was spotted in the Silver Moon Inn taking photographs for some inexplicable reason. The most reasonable conclusion is that it was just to be irritating.

Zelphina (XZeIphina): Still missing.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): After experiencing his first true nightmare, he has sworn off sleep for a while, perhaps forever. It is a good thing that sleep is an optional luxury for him.
