Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #49 ~ 1 August 2004

The Blurb

My fellow collaborators, I'm terribly sorry about the lateness of this week's edition of Ubique's Weekly. Getting back on track is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Especially now that I'm once again bogged down by the responsibilities of work and the complications of having a cold. My head's been a little muddled lately thanks to overactive allergies, so please forgive any mishaps and problematic entries. I'm just not thinking as clearly as I might like to be right now. Hopefully by next week this annoyance will have cleared itself up and I can once again make UW as fun and exciting as it always has been. Until then, here's what we have to share with you this week.

Top Story!

The Reconstructing of the RDI: Yes, folks! The Red Dragon Inn is slowly making a climb back up to the top. There is a lot of information concerning the return of our favorite RP Community, but I really don't have the mindset to tell it all to you now. What I can say is this: Nearly anything and everything you would like to know in relation to the Red Dragon Inn FFRP Group can be found at http://members.aol.com/rdifayalki/RDIGroup/index.htm, also known as the Red Dragon FFG Group. Founded by Fayalki back when the RDI was shut down with its loss of HOSTs, it still stands strong to this day. Dedication such as this has made a tiny dent in a brick wall that we've been trying to break for about a year now.

Many of the accepted rules and guidelines are the same concerning the Red Dragon Inn, but just in case over the course of a year anyone has forgotten, please feel free to review them at http://members.aol.com/rdifayalki/RDIGroup/guidelines.htm. New and old role-players alike can benefit from this information. Spread the word far and wide. We're making a comeback! Once again I will list here for you the expected times that the RDI is to be HOSTed, just in case you were thinking about having your characters stop in for a little visit.

Red Dragon Inn Schedule (Full Schedule times are Eastern):

For more information concerning the Red Dragon Inn and it's Community resurrection progress, do not be afraid to contact those in the know. Since I have not asked for express permission yet to reveal the exact names of those in the know, I won't. Until then, feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns you may have. Anything I don't have an answer for immediately, rest assured that I am capable of finding the answer. As I've said, I am in the progress of compiling a complete essay on the subject and will inform you all as to when it is completed and available for your reading pleasure.

If any of you were looking for a good reason to share the joy of Ubique's Weekly with your role-playing friends, this is as good of one as any. Do keep in mind that I extremely encourage the promotion of our newsletter. Do not be afraid to forward a copy to anyone whom you think would enjoy it. Next week I plan on having a whole lot more to say concerning the state of the RDI. So stay tuned.

Storyline Spotlight

I really don't have a whole lot to say concerning this week's Headlines. Just remember that any snippets of collaborative storyline information you think useful to share would go here. Any new and urgent information concerning storylines would be posted in the currently ommitted Storyline Spotlight section. Please review past issues of Ubique's Weekly if you have any questions as to what should go where. Generally, as editor, it is my job to decide what would fit best where. However, I always welcome the help of preseparated updates. With that said, let's get on with this week's...

This Just In

There's a few headlines this time. Without further ado, here is this issue's...

Headlines

Busy Goddesses:Over the course of the past few months, Mistresses Mallora and Valleana of the Temple of Love & Ecstasy have become exceedingly busy. The realms should know that while the family may not be around for quite some time due to business that needs taken care of on their homeworld of Valtash, the Temple still remains open to the public. So feel free to visit at any time.

Lazy Days of Summer: The Shoreline Office of Blackjack Adventures is open for business. Contact Office Manager This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule an adventure package.

On The Crime Beat: Anyone with information in the case of the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, a perpetrator previously charged with five counts of aggravated assault and two counts of petty theft, around the Silver Moon Inn as of February 29th, 2004, is to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

RhyDin Baywatch: Rhydin Shore Patrol is still investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

The Illithid Node: The lack of outward activity is ongoing. And refreshing. Agents of the Department of the Exterior (the befuddling Men In Plaid) seem to have settled into a long-term surviellance, despite their public orders. The 'person' (for lack of a better word) in the cloak and robe seems to be occasionally watching the watchers.

In Other News...

All I can really say is that hopefully I've gotten rid of the mishap that occurred last week with the unexpected overabundance of bolding. Aside from that, I'm once again overjoyed by the amount of individual Character Updates that I received for this week. While some of them were sent in late, it is nothing to be too concerned about. Since this week's issue is being sent out late, it's no big deal. But for next week, do try to be on time. I'll try my best to be on time as well. Anyway ... here's the latest and greatest. Once again, to save space I have ommitted those names in which I did not receive updates for.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): As ever, he is plotting and scheming dark and despicable deeds.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): Still using times when the body he is guarding is safely stashed at home to visit with Jules Braeden. She's his favorite.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister was not seen in public this past week. It's still unclear whether Arianna will return immediately to her husband's clan lands to rejoin her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and her son Brion or if she will remain in Rhydin a bit longer.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Ariana recently made a few public appearances at the Silver Moon Inn, including looking after the place one night, usually with her canines (Fritzs Pack). She also was briefly reunited with her one heartson Neko (Jibudoka Neko). Other than these appearances and working at the bakery, the green sister still is in private mourning and continues to plot to avenge her son Banshee's murder.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carmine (Taciturn Merc): Having come to the understanding that his son needs to get out of the house now and then to wander where he sees fit, he has decided to allow this, provided his son carries a weapon and continues to train in its use. He also must leave a note stating where he thinks that he might be going off to.

Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter): Hunter has been hired, at relatively trivial prices, by none other than Master Ynik. Check out the entry for Ynik for details.

Cassiel (Inverted Darkness): Rumor has it that this angel paid a visit to Earth to see some people he cares about, but nobody knows for sure.

Cheriour (HeIIishHunter): Cats! Crikey! You'd think that if one has a somewhat lupine nature, people would cut him a break and let him bite, er, avoid the obnoxious fuzzy buggers! Alas, this is not the case, and now the cherub must tolerate the presence of a pushy feline rubbing herself all over his nephew Rei. While he is staying in Gemethyst's manor he behaves, being an uncharacteristically shy housemate. For outside the manor...he's buying a squirtgun.

Clockwork Guts (Clockwork Guts): ...and friend arrived shortly after the 'slaying' of Vectorwing. The two bots having been sent to stop Vectorwing themselves were quite pleased to find that not only was the Nefarian defeated but apparently blasted to atoms. Vibe-the second bot, tried to engage the Vars Corp represenatives in friendly conversation and invited them to celebrate. He was brushed off and joined Clockworks in the SMI. The duo had time to kill so Clockworks gave Vibe a tour of the local sights.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): Still clearing out his tower, and trying to get over his humiliation at having it stolen. His absence is a blessing, but one wonders how completely insufferable he will be when he reappears. See Kulkem for more details.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black still investigates various crime sprees, including a recent series of muggings in the slum areas. Rachael is still doing her best to wrap up the investigations on the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, the kidnapping of one Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden) and the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th. She's frustrated in her investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Though Maranya has currently locked herself up in her laboratory with regards to certain medical experiments, she is taking more time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that summer is here and she is very pleased with the work so far.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): Now that he's back from his business trip, he's been trying to reorganize his agenda. This has been proving to be a very difficult task considering the fact that he's found all of his paperwork in ruins! Damn cat...

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik): Stunned by the news that the RDI is reopening and employing actual people instead of automatons, Ehz decided to drop on by for a very brief visit. Very, very brief visit. Her first sighting in months.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine is spending her summer vacation helping her Mama at her bakery. Her two weeks grounding because of her recent late night exploration expedition is up. Elaine really misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): Ah August. A time for rest and relaxation. Well, the lovely Russian blue seems to be doing a butt load of that. Especially with the overabundance of eating she's been doing. How else could she be getting so fat?

Faye:She Who Tends The Dead (Faye Random): The mysterious spirit of the dead made an appearance at the Rambling Rose Tavern at some time last week, but she might as well not have been there at all. Observing in silence is all that she did.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, the only news of note for this native Rhydin resident is she has been laid low with a bug this week. Stay tuned.

Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): Well he's come out of hiding and spent the past week or so trying to reacquaint himself with old friends. He was very shocked to find out about Irina being engaged to Auggy, but we won't let that stop him from having a good time. He also ran into Morgan to discover that he's still as big of a sourpuss as ever. But ... he's going to try his best to try and cheer the old guy up. He might have fallen off the face of the earth, but at least he found his way back into orbit.

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Jim has been hanging around in bars with a variety of odd or disreputable characters this week, getting into things ranging from mixing tropical drinks for someone that is new to the physical sensations scene to helping protect the one friendly forerunner to a swarm of flesh-eating robots. He is considering a new hobby in the field of smacking heroic types upside the head.

Johnny Hellshot (Johnny Hellshot): Has learned yet a new trick: Fire Portals. Does this new discovery have anything to do with bouts of transparency Johnny has suffered of late? Is there any danger in becoming transparent? Is he losing his self or gaining a new power? Stay tuned.

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's still keeping an eye on his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), has been heard making threats to kill a mysterious Him and learned something rather disturbing about his younger brother. Joker is currently undergoing anger management counseling along with his usual medical treatments from the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan) and appears to have a serious romantic interest in his life, Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock).

Jules (Jules Braeden): She was seen recently going through some boxes of old things and getting rid of stuff she no longer needs. She is also keeping an eye on her little sister when she can, and spending time with Amaliel when he has time to visit.

Kakabel (Framework Memento): After returning "home" from his quest to find his "lost son" he has discovered that his life has become far more topsy-turvy than he might prefer. He met a boy who claims to have the same name as his once infant son. As if that isn't weird enough, he's been running into a lot of people who seem vaguely familiar. Especially since they seem to know him. Due to the attitudes that have been shown towards him, he's not quite sure whether or not he does want his memory back.

Kulkem (Kulkem): After The Plea to Kulkem Kulkem assisted Cryptopakolips in the restoration of his tower. It hasn't ended the entire matter, but those who know do not speak. In the meantime, Kulkem is keeping a low profile, especially around the Silver Moon...

Mallora (Ma11ora): See this week's Headlines.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): It seems the Sadist's life is on a continual downward spiral! After a wearying week where he nearly lost Michael, the unfortunate lad's attempts to help a young friend with his health problems ended with said friend committing suicide with Mesteno's name carved into his chest. He has however, made an effort to be social, despite the suicide and the death of another close friend. He's been spotted visiting at the Silver Moon and the Rambling Rose to catch up with old cquaintences, and plans to do a little invstigating regarding a certain group of troublesome hell hounds!

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): He has been busily collecting a plethora of esoteric items. They are likely for a spell, and logic would dictate that it would have to do with the removal of some unwanted mortality. They say that being human is not all that it is cracked up to be.

In other news, he recently encountered and befriended a mechanical man and helped that one break free of a rather tyrannical force. He was warned that more of the robotic man's kind will come and wreak havoc. Mithril vows to do what he can to help prevent disaster from occurring.

Monsters (MonstrusAppetite): It's been quiet around the SMI in regards to human-munching creatures. Last night three grinning robots with human flesh-faces came to the SMI. One designated 0005 questioned, and was questioned by Mithril extensively. Questions of self and servitude seemed to awaken rebellion in the 'bots mind. The three bots left peacefully enough, but 0005 returned later. He was in great distress. He was fighting his malevolent Creator's control and losing. Thankfully quick thinking by Jim and Mithril saved 0005, who took the name William at Mithril's suggestion. William, or Will as he is starting to prefer, offered to help the Inn-mates in their endeavors, and began hinting at the true danger behind the robot's Creator's probing.

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): Those lazy days of summer call to the feline and the time has come to prowl about the land, seeing what there is to see. The strange invader is not the only one that has wanderlust.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): Remains off investigating the death of Banshee, working the orcish bandit clans...

Pleione (Stellar Balinese): After spending several weeks (if not months) scouring the country-side in search of her man's son, she seems to have tracked him down at last. The balinese would prefer to return back to her man Kakabel, but try as she might she can't seem to find him. So she's satisfied herself by taking care of Rei instead. Not to mention teaching his uncle some manners on how to properly deal with a cat.

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): He has been laying low this week. He recently met his father's cat, who as it turns out is intelligent and can speak when she wishes. He decided to let the feline stick around, and has even bought some food for her. His uncle is not terribly thrilled about this.

Salvador (Peculiar Silence): It seems his late night escapades have finally gotten the best of him. He returned home far too late one morning to find his father up and waiting for him. He was quite surprised that he was not read the Ten Commandments on how a child should behave. Instead he was simply told to carry a weapon and leave a note. He intends on doing just that should wanderlust prove troublesome in the odd hours of the night once again. Perhaps his father isn't such a bad guy afterall?

Suriel (ThirteenthChange) He made another visit to the Silver Moon Inn this week, but it was a short one. He stayed long enough to sample some other drinks and greet a being that he has not seen in quite some time.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): Finally starting to calm down from diamond-induced euphoria, Terry is buckling down to some serious magical research and development work. True nerdity cannot be erased, only suspended.

Twelve (The Multifarious): Twelve the Grikkyn has been tapped for an actual job. As for who has hired him, check the entry for Ynik.

Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The Heretic has been scarce again, devoting his time to ridding himself of a troublesome poltergeist, whilst serving as doctor/counsellor to Mesteno and his lover Michael.

Valleana (Va11eana): See this week's Headlines.

Vectorwing (Vectorwing): Lieutenent of an intergalactic terrorist army crashed in Rhydin and quickly made himself unwelcome in the SMI. Only a few hours into his first night planet-side he got in a free-for-all donnybrook with Sylvie, his first mistake. After taking much more damge than he gave Vectorwing retreated. Left temporarilly one handed the cruel malcontent took out his limited rage on a shepherd, his herd, a blacksmith, and a farmer. Made a bit mad by his injuries, and over-confidence in his own power Vectorwing returned to the SMI to finish Sylvie, mistake number 2. Sylvie wasn't apparent but a Prefect from the Vars Corp was available and ambushed the wounded bot. The short battle seemed to leave Vectorwing seemingly annihilated with out a trace.

Yeehaw Kikass (Yeehaw M Kikass): No recent Spaniard sightings. Yee remains vigilant.

Ynik (TheMultifarious): The Trandoshan Jedi has discovered that part of the reason the Northern part of town is so dangerous for messengers and other travellers. It seems that a gang of evil giants have set up housekeeping up past the Northern edge of town. Ynik has carefully tapped some serious help, including Twelve and the Horned Hunter, to either speak peace with them or clear them out. It might be interesting...

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): Nope, no actual news on the kitsune, but rest assured he is probably up to no good.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): His relatives are currently involved in interesting things, and he is watching most carefully. He is determined not to be left out of whatever might happen.

Final Thoughts

I'm going to end this week's issue as simply and as sweetly as I began it. Of course, it is much shorter than last week's issue, and for that I apologize. As I said, I haven't been feeling my best this week and my head's a mess. However, I think I can still remember here to remind you all to look over every section of the issue. Some things have been changed, if even just a little bit. Remember, the best way for us to work together is to keep each other informed. By sharing vital character and storyline information with your fellow role-players, there will be less fights and less conspiracy. Let's help keep the dream alive by working together to make role-playing more enjoyable for everyone. Until next week...

Updates: Always remember that any future Ubique's Weekly submissions are always due the Sunday before every expected delivery date. UW is issued every Monday morning to afternoon, depending on how long it takes me to put everything together and send it off to the printers. Comments, questions, updates, additions, announcements, advertisements, etceteras are always welcome for every issue. While some may make it to the front page, there is no guarantee that all submissions will be printed. However, your thoughts are always encouraged to be shared. Just remember to send all of these aforementioned things to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than Sunday at midnight EST.

Keeping you informed,
