Ubique's Weekly

Anniversary Edition

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #51 ~ 16 August 2004

The Blurb

Hello again my fellow collaborators. You're just going to have to forgive me for the continued lateness of publication this past month. Since my return things have changed drastically in my life. All of this I have mentioned before, so I won't continue to bore you with the unimportant details. What is important is the fact that all of you have kept me smiling by continuing to show your support in Ubique's Weekly and Mutual Endeavors. However, there are ways you can show your support even more than you do now. The simplest and most encouraged way to do so is to forward copies of our publication to your fellow role-players and friends. Spread the word and help our number of subscribers grow.

At this point in time you're probably wondering what's so special about this edition? Previously there has only ever been one real special edition, and that was partially a personal ego-boost sort of deal. This reason is not so different, and yet it is. It's not special due to anything spectacular going on with any of my storylines or characters. No. The reason that this issue is a SPECIAL EDITION is because of all of you. Almost exactly one year ago today, I came up with the idea for Ubique's Weekly and typed up the very first issue. There were a very small and select few subscribers back then. Mostly only those who were members of Mutual Endeavors itself. Since then the word has spread far and wide. UW is thirty-seven subscribers strong and growing!

How does it grow, you ask? It grows by having fans like yourself spread the word by sending out copies to others whom you think may enjoy our publication. As I've said before. Aside from forwarding copies to your friends and coconspirators, you can also direct people to our ever-improving official website: UW HQ Central. (Or for those of you who don't like to click on links: http://www.geocities.com/ehzoterik/UW.html). There are currently fifty-one running issues of Ubique's Weekly (including this one), but only twenty-one are archived on the site. For those of you who skimmed over last week's issue, now would be a good time for me to toss out a reminder to read the whole thing if you can. Last week I included a new advertisement. For what? Well ... With as hectic as my schedule is these days, I'm finding it more and more difficult with each new issue to actually get the time to work on the great archiving project. So if anyone is interesting in tackling the project for me, feel free at any time to e-mail me with your credentials.

"Now wait a minute, SM," you may be saying. "Anniversary issue? Aren't there fifty-two weeks in a year?" Why yes there are, and as our early subscribers may recall, there was one issue I completely skipped over in the beginning. One week in which I could not get the publication put together on time in one week's span. So I made the next issue two weeks' worth of news instead. It happens, life does. What matters is this:

On August 17, 2003, Ubique's Weekly was born to the Internet world. Since then we have celebrated an entire year's worth of role-playing news from over three dozen players. I am proud to say that we have made it this far, and hope to make it even farther. In the year to come, I hope to double our number of subscribers ... if not more. Things may change in the next year or so concerning Ubique's, but one thing's for certain ... we will continue to be here and everywhere. Happy birthday, Ubique's Weekly! Thank you to everyone who has helped shape UW into what it is today.

Storyline Spotlight

The Great Giant Hunt: It has recently been confirmed that there is a gang of Giants operating to the north of Rhydin. Little is known for sure of their hideout particulars, except that it is in a Techno-dead zone. Within this zone, artificial energy exchanges are impeded. The effect on steam power and clockwork devices is trivial, but electronics of all kinds simply cease to operate within the zone. Magical devices are not effected, but techno-magical devices may be impaired in any number of unpredictable ways.

The giants appear to be a mixed bag of Hill Giants, Frost Giants, and Fire Giants, a truly unusual collaboration. In addition, there is a Fog Giant of Wrath imprisoned in the lair. Fog Giants, as a rule, are not very dangerous despite their awesome size, but a Giant of Wrath is always a threat. Giants, for reasons that remain obscure, sometimes find themselves utterly consumed by some intense emotional state, usually a bad one. There are Giants of Gluttony, Avarice, Envy, and Wrath. Lesser creatures may be obsessed in a similar way of course, through emotional instability or some intense trauma. In the case of Giants, however, these states cause a radical increase in supernatural power. Wrath Giants are arguably the most spectacular examples of this phenomenon. They become faster, tougher, and stronger, developing a berserker-like rage and an ability to heal from their injuries with awesome speed. In addition, they develop an aura of magical fear similar to dragonfear. They do, however, become slightly more vulnerable to magical enchantments -- the loss of self-control appears to erode their resistance to charms and other mental influences. This might explain how the Fog Giant is being kept under the control of the gang.

As if all this weren't bad enough, the gang appears to include a Feastmaker, one of those fearsome giants who turn civilized creatures into foods that Giants can derive various benefits from. Details on this creature, if it isn't just a rumor, are almost nonexistent.

Master Ynik, Twelve, Carvenhorn (and perhaps others) went to find this gang and try to persuade them to dwell peaceably in civilized lands, or failing that to destroy the gang. The attempt went badly. Ynik's Lightsabre failed to function due to the Techno-dead field, and the Trandoshan Jedi was taken prisoner. Carvenhorn tried to take on the Fog Giant himself, and in his own words, the minotaur mercenary got 'knocked into the next county.' Essentially, he found himself facing a bigger version of himself. Twelve's role in the encounter is unclear, but the grikkyn was around to tend bar one night last week.

Carvenhorn managed to contact Deputy Marshall Wynter, and tell her the principle details. Anyone wishing to join the counterattack against the Giant gang should email SNs The Multifarious or Rachael Wynter.

This Just In

Most of our news this week came in the form of individual Character Updates. However, that does not mean we are without Headlines. There is still a great deal of collaborating going on with continuing storylines, and this is just the latest and greatest. Quite a bit more than usual, actually. If you are ever curious as to what the details are, do not hesitate to contact me or the originators of the storylines. In some small way, these Headlines are in essence a recruiting tool. It's a small invitation to other players to get involved. Ask permission first, of course, but don't be afraid to do so.

Headlines

Bad Luck Deluxe:A Mechannibal (a robot like William 0005 May) and a Crite attacked Bara (Fortunes Choice) in the Silver Moon Inn. It seems Will's warnings were true. Caife (The Multifarious) was witness to the assault and aided Bara. Caife's actions gave Bara the edge necessary to swiftly defeat the robot and the ebony furball of doom. Citizens are warned to keep pets indoors for the foreseeable future. It should also be noted that the robot pretended to be Will. It is suggested to check any robot's eye color should one encounter one. Will has gray eyes. Also RhyDin's Chief (and only) Animal Control Officer: Chief Haverack would like to warn all citizens that dinosaur sightings are on the rise. Further more, playing dead or 'freezing' (standing still) will not actually make one safer in the presence of said animals. Pamphlets on "Living with Dinosaurs Safely" are available at the RDACO.

Busy Goddesses: Over the course of the past few months, Mistresses Mallora and Valleana of the Temple of Love & Ecstasy have become exceedingly busy. The realms should know that while the family may not be around for quite some time due to business that needs taken care of on their homeworld of Valtash, the Temple still remains open to the public. So feel free to visit at any time. The mother and daughter duo can still be reached by mail (or e-mail) should there be any desire or need to contact them.

Lazy Days of Summer: The Shoreline Office of Blackjack Adventures is open for business. Contact Office Manager This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule an adventure package.

On the Crime Beat: Anyone with information in the case of the murder of one Larry "Grabber" Nelson, a perpetrator previously charged with five counts of aggravated assault and two counts of petty theft, around the Silver Moon Inn as of February 29th, 2004, the kidnapping of Irina Braeden on March 21st, 2004, the alleged assault of Morgan Knight at the Silver Moon Inn on April 6th, 2004 and the whereabouts of Paul and Mary Hanson is strongly urged to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Red Dragon Blues: The truth is out there, for those who know how to find it. In the past few editions of UW there has been mention of the reopening of the Red Dragon Inn (or more precisely the reinstating of official community leader HOSTs). This is not a rumor. It is indeed the truth. Our friends over at the Multiverse Minutes have been very helpful in keeping a vast majority of the role-playing population informed on what to expect. As far as changes are concerned with the return of the RDI chat HOSTs. The basic rules are still the same. If there are any questions about what those rules may be, don't be afraid to contact Fayalki for more details. Though before you go and bomb his inbox with inquiries, take a moment to check out the official Red Dragon FFG Group Index webpage at http://members.aol.com/rdifayalki/RDIGroup/index.htm. All of the information concerning the RDI community that was has been archived there for the past year or so.

We here at UW and Mutual Endeavors are quite aware of the burn many of you suffered with the previous eradication of the RDI chat HOSTs a year ago. But for any of you who are curious and can work up the will and motivation to visit, allow us here at Ubique's to help keep you informed of the latest and greatest concerning "The State of the RDI." If you would prefer to visit during a HOSTed session, you can find the most recent schedule by following AOL Keyword: RED DRAGON INN > Role-Playing Games Chat Schedule. The firewall isn't what it used to be, and I don't quite know the exact keyword. However, I do know enough to help you find the chat schedule and information on what is expected of time spent in the Red Dragon Inn. Enjoy your play!

Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is still investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

The Hut of Old Lady Huu: Having sat quietly in front of the Silver Moon Inn for so long that most people even stopped noticing it's presence has suddenly begun to move. Monday it got up and strutted up and down in the afternoon, Wednesday it got up and hopped up and down at dawn, and Thursday night it danced. The reason for this activity is unclear (to put it mildly) but the Old Lady herself has been out and about as well. Most specifically she has been seen to wander around the town, making vague pronouncements to strangers. But when she found Irina Braeden at the Self-Serve tavern, she became positively threatening, insisting that she would "See ya, I will, oh yes, soon!" The monstrous old hag appears to be building up to something, something that involves Irina...

In a related story, the heavily cloaked figure that appeared to be connected both to the old Illithid Node and to the Observers thereof, has disappeared from the world of Rhydin. This is related because of the timing of his disappearance -- it was noted when the Hags Hut began to dance... (The cloaked personage was resistant to scrying, but even with their crystal balls blocked, the observers could record whether he existed in the same world or not.)

In Other News...

In previous editions I think I've done a fairly good job of eradicating the bold menace. Hopefully I didn't fail again with this issue. It being so special and all. This week's individual Character Updates have reached a record high. As before, I've omitted those names without submissions this week. It saves space. And as I've said before, it's nothing personal. I just want to avoid making each issue any longer than one e-mail in length. So ... I'll keep going with that effort and just get on with it.

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): As ever, he is plotting and scheming dark and despicable deeds.

Alexander Camael Woods (Emerald Mirror): This twin was spotted earlier in the week at the Silver Moon Inn. Witnesses claim he was speaking with Rei (AmethystStarfall), but the details of their friendly conversation are fuzzy.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister still hasn't been seen in public. It hasn't been determined whether Arianna will return to her husband's clan lands to rejoin her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and her son Brion or if she will remain in Rhydin a bit longer.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Ariana recently made a public appearance at the Silver Moon Inn and encountered a rather persistent small-medium sized dinosaur (MonstrusAppetite), who she persuaded to hunt elsewhere. Other than this appearance and working at the bakery, the green sister still is in private mourning and continues to plot to avenge her son Banshee's murder. Ariana spent a very memorable third wedding anniversary with Galen.

Caife (SMI Multifarious): Caife was inactive for his shift Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The reasons remain unclear, but Caife was active enough to engage and assist in the destruction of a berserk robot/android a few nights later. The reasons for this alteration in Caife's activity cycle might have something to do with the renewed activity of the hag's hut -- starting Monday, the walking hut got up from it's months-long roost and began to move about. Maybe it's just a coincidence...

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still entertaining her adoring public.

Carmine (Taciturn Merc): His son ran away from home this week and his time has been spent searching for him, without any success. He has been both angry and upset with this whole situation, but before he had the chance to settle into bleak despair, his son finally returned home.

Carmine has also been having the oddest, most realistic dreams concerning his child, but with situations being what they are, he does not know yet if these are omens or just stress speaking in a surreal manner.

Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter): The Minotaur was part of an expedition to the north of town to deal with a Giant gang that had set up shop there. In the course of the 'negotiations', he encountered a Fog Giant of Wrath and got royally thrashed, possibly for the first time in a century. He isn't letting it on, but his pride is really stinging. He gave a report to Marshall Rachael Wynter, then headed off to his Labyrinth to lick his wounds. It is known that he gave Wynter something to let him know when she was ready to counterattack, but whether he'll be ready to get back on the horse by then is unclear.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): The enigmatic angel was spotted earlier this week at the Silver Moon Inn, seemingly brooding by the hearth. Witnesses say he had a conversation with a plain-looking woman, but the details as to what the conversation was about remain unclear.

Cheriour (He11ish Hunter): Orrie is no longer living at Gemethyst's manor, Quellarin, nor has he moved back into his old flat; he said something about moving off Rhydin entirely, in fact. He is still being seen in the company of Gem's son Rei (AmethystStarfall) off manor grounds, and reports not a word as to what changed his dwelling status. He has been busier than usual with raids on a slaver depot and other such unsavory places.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): The Master Fleshtender is, for better or worse, back in business. He already has a rather difficult commission, although the details are obscure. See the entry on Kulkem for details.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black is working on wrapping up certain investigations (see Headlines). She's frustrated in these investigations because to date no one's come forward with any information. Rachael has recently reopened the investigation on a long-standing case which involves child and adult prostitution, child endangerment, child abuse, drugs and other illicit activities. The Deputy Marshall, during a recent visit to the SMI, learned some disturbing information from Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter) about a gang of Giants operating to the north of Rhydin (see Storyline Spotlight).

Dinosaurs (Supersaur Love): That's right...they're back. Though did they ever leave? That is uncertain. Whether they've come and gone, or never returned, the beasts that make monsters tremble are here. Two young brachiosaurs have been seen frolicking near the Silver Moon Inn. A juvenile Dilophosaur had an encounter with Ariana MacGyldren. A feathered Troodon made itself at home in the Silver Moon Inn and even managed to befriend Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter). A lone Allosaur is suspected of eating three moronic travelers. Tracks and idiotic equipment were found at the scene of the crime. No one reported the crime because it is still being hotly debated whether the dinosaur is dangerous or committed an act of service to the community.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya is taking more time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again, now that summer is here and she is very pleased with the work so far. She also took time out from her busy schedule to visit the Rambling Rose Tavern.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): With all the chaos that has been going on lately, Dris is unsure as to when (if ever) he'll resume his duties as part-time bartender at the Silver Moon Inn. He hasn't forgotten what it's like to raise a teenager, and helping Carmine deal with his son is no laughing matter. Though on occasion he has made it a point to do just that. Within the past week, there has been no cause for it, considering the boy decided to disappear for a few days. The bard's headache over the entire matter is unbearable.

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine is spending her summer vacation helping her Mama at her bakery. She still hasn't gone exploring at all. Maybe she's learned her lesson after her grounding. Elaine really misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): She's still getting fatter

Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): Something drew her to the Silver Moon Inn earlier this week, but what that something was remains unclear. She was reported to have had a brief conversation with Cassiel (InvertedDarkness) on matters that remain a mystery. Since no witnesses could understand what all the staring was about. She also had an opportunity to speak with her old student Mithril (ASaintOfSinners) and see how much life has changed him.

Gem (Gemethyst, SMI Gem): Gem has been very busy of late. She has become the silent partner of a new friend, a man opening a security business in old Rhydin. His name is Daemon Silvarian. She even gave him a list of estates to go to for potential business...all the ones she has hit since coming to Rhydin. Hey, they can't be happy with their old security, right? She is delighted and grateful to Mer for getting Rei into the Academy, and is hoping they may help smooth some of the rougher edges of her son. She and Rei had a lovely breakfast together the other day, laughing and talking. They seem to be getting closer. Gem was at the Rambling Rose talking with Mer when Katie Rose went into labor. Mer drove her off to Rose's house, Gem going with, just to get her settled. The two of them went looking for Seamus and the midwife. Rose was Satan for a bit there. Labor has SUCH an affect on women!

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, the only news of note for this native Rhydin resident is she's still got the flu this week. That hasn't kept her from going out a couple of nights, though. Stay tuned.

Jack Bishop (Jackrabbit Blue): Bunnyboy took a personal leave from his duties at the ranch this past week to return home for a brief weekend visit. With birthdays come presents, and he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to be doted upon by his loving family. If ... you can call it that.

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Some new hobby or another is taking up his time and he is not talking about it, mainly because he's busy. He's only been out a couple of times recently to pick on people that need picking on and increase his repertoire of tropical mixed drink recipes.

Johnny Hellshot (Johnny Hellshot): With help from everyone's favorite "Hawaiian Desert" was able to learn that his 'transparency issue' is not at all dangerous. Apparently he isn't losing himself but becoming 'Psionic energy'. He has yet to learn how to control this new ability but is much relieved. Rumor has it Johnny had a hot date...could it be true or is someone just too uninhibited with their use of a Sharpie in the Silver Moon Inn's men's room? Time will tell.

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): The flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn just worked his normal shift the past week. He's worried about his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), who he hasn't seen in some time. Joker is currently undergoing anger management counseling along with his usual medical treatments from the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan) and definitely has a very serious romantic interest in his life, Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock). He may even shave his beard off for Rhi, it's that serious.

Jules (Jules Braeden): Aside from her shopping for a birthday gift for her sister, there is nothing new to report.

Kulkem (Kulkem): The odd matter begun in The Plea to Kulkem has continued as Kulkem has officially called in part of the favor owed him by Cryptopakolips. It appears that the cloaked figure bedeviling the Department of the Exterior, among others, wants a change of biology, a job for which Cryptopakolips is perfectly suited. The work, already puzzling in it's details, has been postponed due to the cloaked figure abruptly being absent from Rhydin utterly. See Lil Ol Lady Huu for more.

Little Old Lady (Lil Ol Lady Huu): Hallooooo, ickle mortal morsels! It's you knows Huu, an' I'm feelin' oh so much better now, an' lookin' abouts for a bit o' fun, yes I am! Yes I am! Now dun't yew be thinkin' o' rollin' me hut when I'm out - the old thing's a bit 'ungry it's own self, innit? Don't yew fret none, though - there's allus gonna be some feed that nobody'll miss, eh? Weeell, nobody but the feed itself, eh? Eh? Hooohoohooohooohooohooohoohoooo!

Mallora (Ma11ora): See this week's Headlines.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Mesteno (Bronze Mesteno): The Sadist has been ill for most of the week, following a field mission for the Syndicate which left him with hallucinations, fever and sickness. This was thanks to an attack by a weird creature known as "Alpha," and poor Michael ended up having to nurse him! That didn't stop him from venturing out however, despite still being weak and on the recovery, and he's been seen visiting at the Silver Moon, the Medieval and the Cafe Book shop.

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): It has been a busy week for the workaholic. After recently finding out where an acquaintance had been sold to slavery, he along with Orrie and Jim planned out a rescue mission and closed the slave depot down. All of the rescued slaves were sent away with their freedom, except for the acquaintance and a drow, as both of these were in a state of extremely poor health. Mithril has taken the drow in and is working on finding him a place where he can hide and recover. He recently found the most surprising safehouse. See Rei (AmethystStarfall) for more details.

Monsters (MonstrusAppetite): It has begun. To some extent at least, the invasion Will (William 0005 May) warned of. A juvenile dilophosaur was 'sicced' on the SMI earlier this week. It met Ariana (Ariana Macgyldren) who tried to tame the beast. In effect the beast tried to entice her to be it's bride, when that didn't work it challenged her for her territory. Unfamiliar with how the prehistoric beast's mind worked (or seemed to not), Ari was at a bit of a loss. She tried to use her powers to dominate the beast, to cause it to pause and become cautious, but the dinosaur could not comprehend such power and did not connect her actions with what was happening to it. Ariana kept her cool though and stuck to her morals. Instead of slaying the young 'cock', she merely teleported it to the Red Dragon Inn where it is assumed it had a fine meal and restful night's sleep.

Later that week, a Mechannibal and a Crite came into the SMI under the flag of peace, the robot even pretended to be Will. It is obvious these fiends will follow no code of conduct nor are bothered by scraping the bottom of the barrel of morality. The devilish duo jumped Bara (Fortunes Choice) and actually managed to do some damage before the coffee golem (The Multifarious) stepped in to aid her. The Crite was fairly easily dealt with but not before he delivered two poisoned, stupor-inducing quills to the lovely lady. What long term effects the drugging may have is unclear as yet. The robot (or 'Faux-Will') was much more durable. Though the device/creature seemed to be fighting at top capacity it was able to hold Bara's attention seemingly indefinitely. With Caife's aid the Mechannibal was fairly easily dispatched finally. The menace of the dark Creator grows and looms. What will come next?

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): Not only is Carmine having to deal with a missing kid, but a missing cat as he has decided to help out with the search for his son.

Parhi Grimjaws (The Multifarious): Remains off investigating the murder of Banshee, Ariana's son.

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): Rei was recently enrolled into Northedge with Mer's help. While out purchasing school supplies, he met up with his uncle who wanted to talk to him about a drow ex-slave they had found. After some persuading, Rei agreed to meet up with this drow. They started up an awkward conversation, but a crazy kitsune took it upon himself to sling them to an area where they could get to know each other better. Much to Rei's surprise, he found that he actually could get to like this drow and they have a few things in common. Finally after quite some time, he offered to smuggle the drow into his mother's house and give him a place to stay, with the provision that the drow will help keep him safe from his mother's evil drow friends, namely those that still worship the demon spider queen. The drow agreed.

Salvador (Peculiar Silence): Not a moment's peace, regardless of how desperate he is for it. The Spaniard's son slipped out again one evening, following the urgings of wanderlust to the Rambling Rose Tavern. While there, he found himself in the company of quite a few friends and acquaintances. The devil inside, however, decided it was a good time to lurk on the surface of his conscious mind that night. And when a young girl wandered in crying for aid, he took it upon himself to salvage the only evidence linking the girl to the curious crime. In a fit of what can best be explained as insanity, he carved into his own flesh with the very same knife. When others discovered what he was doing, he became very tense. When Terrance (Terrance Tomar) suggested taking him home to his father, he hurriedly fled the premises shouting his refusal to cooperate. Which leads us to him having been missing from home.

Claiming that he spent three days under the care of one mysterious Wanwa, he was further convinced thanks to his father's reactions that no one understands. Most especially Carmine. Finding himself grounded to the house until further notice, his hopes of being enrolled into Northedge schools are dwindling. Especially with the possible threat of being sent to a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, house arrest has lead to the arising of more destructive natures in the child. His bed hasn't survived the weekend, having torn the mattress to pieces with his fingers alone. Carmine probably is regretting taking the boy home with him more by the minute. However, Sal insists that he is not crazy. What will a psych-evaluation have to say about that?

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): May have finally run out of new victims to inflict his engagement news upon. Aw. No matter, he still has plenty to do, like mothering other people's teenagers. It is easy to forget he is twice their age given he looks like them, but it seems he is perhaps unconsciously working on that concept.

Twelve (The Multifarious): The grikkyn was part of Master Ynik's expedition to the Giant gang. In the course of this incident, Twelve tried to take on the Giant King himself, a Fire Giant named Shear Ulkess. It didn't work out well. Twelve blooded his enemy, but King Shear beat Twelve literally to a pulp. Fortunately, he appeared to be unaware of the regenerative powers of grikkyns, because he simply left the bloody smear behind to regrow into the Twelve we all know and love. Twelve was well enough to tend bar when Caife went offline for unknown reasons, but even he is smart enough to realize that a frontal assault against these guys would be a bad idea, even for him. He's mostly listening for a better idea, and scouting out the territory of the Giants as quietly as he can.

Vadriel (Vadriel de Guise): The heretic has been scarce again, mainly due to a spook influx and the heat. He never did handle summer weather well!

Valleana (Va11eana): See this week's Headlines.

Will (William 005 May): Not much happening for the free 'droid. Early this week he was content to guard the Silver Moon Inn from within, but as he grew worried he left the Inn to search for the heralds of his former master. He was most distressed to find out that 2 minions of the dark Creator had slipped by him and injured his friend Bara (Fortunes Choice). Will's decision to stand with and defend his friends has been cemented. He now guards the SMI at all times.

Yeehaw Kikass (YeeHaw M Kikass): While out Spaniard-hunting various places the Yee has been noticing a rise in the number of strange critters about. Yee spent some quality time with his Boss (ArianaMacgyldren) recently and showed off his 'bodyshaping' power. Yee also participated in a mild riot in the SMI rooting on a hungry giant (The Multifarious) and defending the moster's rear flank. Many blades, boots, and chairs were thrown...eventually when the blood cooled Yee could be seen collecting his boots without a scratch. Yee maintains his vigil against the Spaniard.

Ynik (The Multifarious): The Trandoshan Jedi led an expedition against a reputed Giant gang that was waylaying messengers and travellers to the Northlands of Rhydin. He found them, but after that things went downhill. As is recorded elsewhere, the Giants had shrewdly made their home in a Techno-dead area, and Ynik found that his Lightsaber, his primary weapon, was useless. He was taken captive, but there is a rumor that this was in accordance with his intentions. Jedi do have a gift for doing remarkably productive things from the depths of their enemies' prisons...

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): The only news to offer is that he felt that Rei and his potential friend who is (gasp! horror!) a drow would be much better off in the Silver Moon Inn, so he teleported both there without their permission. Naughty kitsune.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): No recent news on this one, but stay tuned.

Announcements

Reviewing my Mutual Endeavors calendar is a task every week. I'm thankful to all of the players out there who send me the reminders for things that might have been missed. Remember, I'm separating this section into two different groups every week, assuming I have anything to announce. If there's anything you want included, do be sure to remind me of it with your weekly updates.

For the Players

August 17th: 1st Year Anniversary of Ubique's Weekly. Happy birthday, UW!

August 22nd: Happy birthday, XZekeil DrakeX! (Wherever you may be.)

For the Characters

Nothing of note.

Final Thoughts

First off, let me just say Wow! This is the second time in a year that Ubique's Weekly has had to be split up into two separate e-mails. Many thousands of thanks to the players who contributed their news. As I've said close to at least fifty-one times before, UW would be nothing without you. All of the dedication and support that each of you give shows in these pages. But let's show it more. Spread the word to your friends and coconspirators in the role-playing community. Help me keep everyone informed by being informants yourselves. Forward copies and encourage the recipients to subscribe. Let's stick together and keep the dream of storytelling through role-play alive and thriving.

Updates: Always remember that any future Ubique's Weekly submissions are always due the Sunday before every expected delivery date. UW is issued every Monday morning to afternoon, depending on how long it takes me to put everything together and send it off to the printers. Comments, questions, updates, additions, announcements, advertisements, etceteras are always welcome for every issue. While some may make it to the front page, there is no guarantee that all submissions will be printed. However, your thoughts are always encouraged to be shared. Just remember to send all of these aforementioned things to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than Sunday at midnight EST.

This week has proven itself to be a week worth celebrating. I'm honored and priveleged to be the one responsible for keeping the news running smoothly. Thank you all for your support, your dedication, and most of all your patience. My husband reminds me every week that it's my newsletter, but regardless I feel it is my responsibility not to let you folks down. I try my very best with my busy schedule to get everything out on time, but it doesn't always work. So thank you for being patient with me. But thank you even more for supporting this project. Ubique's Weekly truly is here and everywhere. As such, until next week, I'll continue to be...

Keeping you informed,
--Nefarious SM
