I know I said that I was only going to postpone Ubique's Monthly for a month.  Well, I lied.  My motivation is still on vacation, as seems to be the case with nearly everybody else as well.  True, I have received some updates from some few people.  To those of you who have sent us news, I am extremely grateful, and I will be holding onto it all until the next time I get around to compiling and publishing the next issue.

I cannot say precisely when the next issue of Ubique's Monthly will be circulated.  Everything depends on my own personal motivation and whatever support I may be given by all of you.  Receiving updates from a single individual, when there are so many of you out there who do read the newsletter, is extremely disconcerting.  Yes, yes.  You get to read me bitching and moaning.

When I first started Ubique's, I had high hopes for the publication.  I had actually hoped that there would exist other like minded individuals who saw how useful such a newsletter could be.  Communication, as I always say, is the key to good role-playing.  I should probably ammend that to it being the key to great role-playing, though.  Who doesn't want to be considered great, after all?

I cannot promise that the next issue will be published in October.  Life has kept me very busy and due to certain complications I have not personally been capable of being online as frequently as I used to be.  I would like to have Ubique's finished and ready for circulation as of October first, but that depends on a great many things.

First and foremost, I need material!  It's great that I receive individual character updates, but it would be even better if anyone else out there took the initiative and wrote me up some feature articles.  I've been waiting on a Character Spotlight from Steff for two months now.  I don't like to be pushy, and I understand that life takes priority over gaming, but two months?  Well.  If anyone else would like to take a crack at interviewing a player and writing a feature article on his or her character, please, by all means, drop me a line and I'll give you a project.

Top Story! spotlights aren't that difficult to ask for either.  Anything and everything can be a Top Story!  All you have to do is get stricken by a little creative writing genius and write me something.  Anything!  It doesn't even have to be about role-playing.  All I need is something to fill in that blank.  Storyline Spotlights are another matter entirely, and I really don't expect anyone to have very many ideas for that sort of thing anymore.

Headlines are what I'd really like too, aside from the standard character news.  If you can't think up anything spectacular to write about, can't think of any enormous storylines that you may be involved in or see being acted out anywhere, then a simple paragraph on the things you do see going on would be amazing.  I'm only a single person.  My eyes can't be everywhere, no matter how much I try to see all that there is to see in role-play land.

So.  If you want there to be an October issue of Ubique's Monthly, my friends, here's what you need to do.  Send me anything, by no later than September 29, 2008.  That's your deadline.  Anything that covers this month or last!

1. All right...
...since you don't wanna be pushy and I don't feel like writing when I have enough things on my plate (like moving was, like going on vacation was, like a severe and deeply frustrating writers' block is, like oh, I dunno, child-rearing is, that kind of thing), I quit. I'll forward what I've got interview-wise and someone else can write it. Call me a flake if you want, but I'm sure not gonna have anyone take a potshot at me on the front page when she's been playing WoW and not particularly motivated herself.

Sorry, Ehz. You're still my friend, I still love you, but Hell with it. If I haven't been able to do it in two months, it's because 1.) I've been busy with stuff that matters more to me and 2.) I just don't want to. This little note here has just been the tipping point I needed to say 'have someone else do it.' When something that was fun becomes like too much work, complete with editor-complaints, for someone who has been struggling with words anyway, time to walk away.

2. ::shrugs::
Two months ago, I did want to. Even a month ago, I was trying to get my head together. But finally, I had to give up -- eventually, you just gotta know when you're beaten. I, unfortunately, have a bad habit of trying very hard not to be beaten until I have absolutely no choice but to admit to defeat.

So, I am admitting defeat. I can't even seem to get my mind together enough to write stuff that I love, love, love writing and find absolute joy in, let alone something that was fun and enjoyable but not a maddening frenzy of pleasure.

3. Another Country Heard From
Which e-mail is being used for submissions this days? I might be able to pull a few things out of my ass, but I'm not sure.

That I know of, Collie was supposed to be the one featured in Character Spotlight. I was pretty sure I submitted that info in a timely manner, but I could be wrong. Be that as it may, it would be wrong of me to write that kind of thing about my own character. Tooting own horn and such is tacky to say the least.

One of the reason I did not volunteer to be an IWA is after eight years or so I learned my limits. I can't Little Red Hen everything and I learned to say NO when my plate is so full that I can't eat what's already on it. I'd rather say no than have someone think I'm going to do something and has them be disappointed or left in the lurch. This is not meant to be offensive, just to explain my personal viewpoint.
