Storyline Spotlight

Summer Celebrations: Dechirant and Fayalki hosted their fourth annual summer gala on Horseshoe Island Saturday. A feast was had, that included such delicacies from guests as real piratical rum, blackberry meade, raspberry cordial, lefsa, sugared flower petals, brownies, multi-grain bread, and tarts -- one of egg and cheese, one of herbs and one of prawns.

The annual treasure hunt was won by the team of Captain Bekah and Lady Ireland. People also took a torch-lit trek to the bell tower for a view of Rhy'Din and the ocean from above, swam and told tales well into the wee hours of the morning. Many of the guests chose to stay overnight, sleeping on the beach.

Headlines

A Serial of Events: Authorities at the local RPD are baffled over what appears to be evidence concluding the existence of a serial killer. The body of Becky Johnson was discovered stashed away in a foot locker that was "rescued" from the city dump Sunday morning. Becky was a waitress at a local grill known as The Turning Spit. Co-workers who were interviewed all agreed that Becky was excited about an upcoming date with a charming and poetic young man that she had met one evening while working. Though none of her fellow employees can recall exactly what this mystery man looked like, or patronizing the establishment at all. Authorities were tight-lipped about the investigation, though one officer who was question was stated as saying, "It was a right mess finding that girl! Pieces of her packed away in the trunk as if someone were taking her on vacation." Reporters have been unable to ask the officer any further questions, as it appears he has been put on probation. So far no evidence has turned up conclusive, and no suspects have been named. However, officials do believe that they are looking for the same person involved in the brutal murder of Patricia Miller. Rhydin Baywatch?: Rhydin Shore Patrol is still investigating a massacre at what appears to have been a luau. Details on the shooting spree are being withheld by authorities. A total of twenty-six people were shot to death with a variety of weapons. Until further notice, a square mile of Rhydin's coast is closed to the public.

In Other News...

Ahriman (TheAngraMaiynu): As he has done so in the past, this dark figure has dropped out of sight. This is either a very good or a very bad thing, depending on one's point of view.

Amaliel (AmaIiel): Apparently he is not fired despite the highly embarrassing incendiary event involving his employer last week. Now he's learning as much as he can about explosive devices while Jules is busy with work. Of course, what do you do when the body you're guarding is about to go pick a fight? You go with him. He will be busier soon.

Anna (AriannaRavenwood): The blue sister was privately called upon to take care of some family matters, along with her sister Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren). There's no word on whether Arianna will return to her husband's clan lands to rejoin her husband Galen (Galen Ravenwood) and her son Brion or if she will remain in Rhydin a bit longer.

Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren): The green sister, along with her husband Galen (Galen MacGyldren) and daughter Elaine (Elaine Aqua), still resides at her husband and brother in law's clan lands. Ariana recently looked after the Silver Moon Inn on her birthday as a favor to that certain tender fellow and received presents from some of her family. She also had a private birthday celebration with Galen. The green sister, along with her sister Arianna (AriannaRavenwood), was also involved in some private family matters. Other than her public appearance and working at the bakery, Ariana still is in private mourning and continues to plot to avenge her son Banshee's murder.

Calypso (Lady Proudfoot): She is still seeking out the one that would greatly benefit from her most serene and royal majesty.

Carmine (Taciturn Merc): He is still troubled by the most vivid and unusual dreams, much to the consternation of his lover Dris. He is at his wits end about what to do concerning his child.

Cassiel (InvertedDarkness): This gentle angel is still hard at work with his heavenly duties and taking the time to be social whenever a free moment of time presents itself.

Cheriour (HeIIishHunter): Business as usual, busting slavers and evil vampires, with the addition of walking (or flying) Rei to school in the morning to wish him luck and make sure his homework's done. Imagine that, homework done BEFORE school starts for a day.

Colleen MacLeod (PrlUnicorn, SMI Colleen): Collie had taken an extended break from her duties, both at the Silver Moon and the Red Dragon, to attend to family matters. She is currently back on duty at the Red Dragon and plans to be back to work at the Silver Moon again very soon.

She stopped by the SMI a couple of times and had been heard discussing the making of a baby's bed with her husband, Ithildirnen (SMI Ithildirnen). Could they be expecting another bundle of joy? While that's possible, it's more likely that the baby furniture is for the coming of their grandchild, who is expected to be born by the beginning of next spring.

Cryptopakolips the Unseasoned (The Multifarious): Finished his job for The Cloaked One. Now he's back to doing his haphazard experimentation. And he's taking an interest in the chicken-legged hut still roosting in the Silver Moon's parking lot.

Deputy Marshall Wynter (Rachael Wynter): The scarred law woman in black is working on wrapping up certain investigations (see Headlines). She's frustrated in her efforts because to date no one's come forward with any information. Rachael continues to investigate a long-standing case which involves child and adult prostitution, child endangerment, child abuse, drugs and other illicit activities, as well as the disturbing information from Carvenhorn (Horned Hunter) about a gang of Giants operating to the north of Rhydin.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan): She's tending to her patients as usual, including one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn. The good Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at a local free clinic and continues to consult with Doctor Jacobs about a mutual patient. Maranya is taking more time to personally supervise the landscaping on her ranch again and she is very pleased with the work so far.

Dris (Bard GaIIant): The bard's week has been less than glamorous. Considering he has to deal with a psychotic teen and a persistently brooding lover, things in his life just aren't as peachy as he might prefer them to be. He had a very long talk with a family member concerning the matter, and was starting to regret even opening his mouth. However, during the talk, he stumbled upon a revelation and intends on testing out some theories concerning another matter entirely. Also, he was given a spectacular gift from this same relative. And even though it was given to him as a manner of thanks, he feels the need to express his thanks for the extremely thoughtful gift as well. All in due time.

Speaking of gifts, once Dris was able to calm Carmine down enough to do some needed shopping, it is reported that the duo dropped off a present on Ari's bakery doorstep. Just a small envelope containing a certificate for a free weekend getaway to a spa where she can be pampered, get her feet rubbed, and be fed fine food. Happy birthday, madre!

Elaine (Elaine Aqua): Elaine is hitting the books once again as school's started for her at Northedge Academy. She hasn't repeated her mistake of exploring late at night again. Maybe she's learned her lesson after her grounding. Or maybe the crafty ten year old is trying to figure out ways to sneak out without getting caught. Elaine really misses her brother Banshee (Banshee Aqua) and really truly doesn't believe he's truly gone.

Emmy (Empress Grayfur): The Empress Emerald of Grayfur has found a new interest in yarn that she thought she had done away with since kittenhood. Several skeins have gone missing in the MacGyldren household due to her venturing off with them and hiding them in obscure corners. Just what is the fat cat up to?

Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): She Who Tends the dead paid a visit to the Silver Moon Inn late one evening this past week. While there she found herself strangely fascinated with a blond-haired man with gray eyes. The two seemed to have been quoting poetry back and forth to each other. Disappointment reigned when she was denied the privelage of inflicting her touch upon the man. However, she was relieved later when an over-sized one-foot long ant decided to "feel her out." The poor critter unfortunately crumbled to dust.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): In this week's installment, the only news of note for this native Rhydin resident is she's slowly recovering from the flu this week. That hasn't kept her from going out a couple of nights, though. Stay tuned.

Jim Smith (TheSpiritRemains): Too busy to socialize with his old buddies all week, what a snob. He was seen at a fruit vendor in the market square making purchases that look like he is preparing for a luau or something. Is he throwing a party without telling anybody?!

Joker (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker): TThe flirtatious bartender for the Silver Moon Inn did not work his normal shift the past week. Instead, so he could take Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock) on a private getaway weekend, he asked the Jadeskinned dollface to cover for him as a favor. He may end up regretting asking that favor later. Joker is still worried about his younger brother Nige (Peter N Harker), who the elder brother got to see this past week. Joker is currently undergoing anger management counseling along with his usual medical treatments from the Valkyrie (Maranya Valkonan). In other news, not only did he buy Rhi a rather expensive birthday present, but the SMI's resident flirt also shaved off his beard.

Wait ... he did WHAT!?

Jules (Jules Braeden): A very complicated problem at her job, not to mention college classes have kept this one quite busy.

Kakabel (CelestialSorrow): The re-ascended angel of stars received a missive this past weekend that his presence was requested for an audience. He has been very busy reacclimating himself to the ascended lifestyle, but hopefully he can find some time in his busy schedule to honor the request.

Matakhat Cain (Matakhat Cain): College life seems to consume Cat and she's having some problems trying to adjust to fitting everything in. Living away from home is harder than she expected and there's been some bumps along the way for this young collegiate.

Melly (Melanie Wyndham): Will the shy relief baker at Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery ever tend bar at the Silver Moon Inn? The world may never know.

Micarryl (Still More Drow): Natha phla'ta klez uriu tlus xunor ulu Mica lu' Rei! Foluss uriu jivvuln natha hass'l golhyrr, lu' nin nind z'klaen ragar natha i'dol ulu dajakk ol. Zhaunus, gaer ph' fol terini'nestg suul it'x, drill hwuen nindol cha'kohk uriu alus, Mica z'klaen jallasat l' ptau'al d' jalilen...

Mithril/Gadreel/Lusus (ASaintOfSinners): Having completed the weapons he was making, and received the armor that he had his brother forge, he is now ready to take down Will's creator along with the assistance of various others. The success of this endeavor remains to be seen.

In other news, the day before the battle is to begin, he has retreated out of the public eye for some much needed rest and meditation.

Mozart (Amadeus Felidae): The cat is actually behaving right now.

Nicole Brock Anorlasvessë (SNicole E Brock): Nicole was seen with her husband, AnorIas, at the summer festival hosted by Dey and Fayalki on Horseheads Island. It was also a sentimental visit for the couple, who met there about two years ago. They will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on November 9 of this year.

She was overheard teasing AnorIas with, "Fess up, Elfboy, you want one of those." Her mate replied, "Very well, I must admit it....I do wish to have a tree all my very own." The topic had been shifted from the trees at Twin Oaks Estate to what AnorIas had been looking at; he apparently missed Nikki's change of conversational track. The resulting banter was a great source of amusement to their new found friend and treasure hunting partner, Kyo (Kyo Shingure).

Thanks to Nexus gate travel, Nikki made a quick visit to the Silver Moon to bring birthday packages to her cousin, Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren, SMI Ariana). She got some interesting news regarding the whereabouts of her sister, Rhi (Rhiannon D Brock), or rather, the who she was with.

A rather large friend of Nikki's showed up to join the tail end of the festivities. The creature was the subject of great interest from the seafaring Vikings, Shylah (Norse Lady) and Thorm (GuthormOthinsson). The red haired fey's sea dwelling companion is a dolphin, who lent a bit of assistance to the Vikings in a swimming race. While Nikki is still unsure who actually won that race, she had a wonderful time watching the antics of her friends.

Rachael MacLeod (RachaeI MacLeod): Rachael has been at home for the better part of the last two weeks. Her pregnancy has been rather taxing on her. It's estimated that she's five or six months along. Given the child's Elven heritage, she could be in for anywhere from four to seven months to go. She has been trying to keep her temper under control for the sake of the young one.

Rei (Amethyst Starfall): Rei woke up one day to find that he and his friend Mica were the victims of a supernatural prank. The both of them are still trying hard to figure out how to reverse the spell (what else could it be) and restore things to normal before anyone finds out what happened.

In other news, he has finally given up on cheating the school system and is actually doing his own homework, and studying the hard way for tests. One of the things that is helping out with this task is that he actually asked someone that attends his school to tutor him in the difficult subject of English.

Rhiannon D. Brock (Rhiannon D Brock): Rhi has been seen recently in the company of Sulrin, her sister's (RachaeI MacLeod) mate, who is teaching her to use a bow and arrow. Despite possible wagging tongues, the relationship is that of brother and sister. It's pretty clear that Rhi's attention in the romance department isn't leaning toward an Elf, as has been a recent family trend, but toward a flirt of a bartender that she has dubbed Lionheart.

Rhi was nowhere to be found by the general populous this weekend. Ariana (ArianaMacGyldren, SMI Ariana) was overheard telling Rhi's sister, Nikki (Nicole E Brock), that that tender fellow, (SMI Joker, Richard D Harker) had asked her to fill in for him.

Rumor is that the couple has taken a weekend trip up into the mountains. Considering Rhi has been heard teasing Joker about being a city boy, one must wonder if he is too citified for sleeping under the stars or under the cover of a tent.

Since her birthday Rhi has been sporting a silver tennis bracelet set with sapphires that match her eyes and Joker has stopped sporting his beard. The removal of the coveted beard just goes to show what lengths the SMI's resident flirt of a bartender is willing to go for her. Who knows what will be next?

Salvador (Peculiar Silence): Surprisingly enough, all has been quiet in the house even with Sal around. Though he's still grounded until his father figures out what to do about him and his apparant evidence of being mentally unstable. The family can rest assured that he has suffered no psychopathic fits this past week. He has been spending most of his time studying and trying not to get in trouble at school. Maybe he's getting better?

Suriel (Thirteenthchange): He, along with Jim, helped a young soldier get a room at a safe inn early this week. He is still learning how to be social and has finally decided that coconuts and bananas are among his favorite flavors.

Terrance Tomar-Duncan (Terrance Tomar): After spending a week out of circulation to recover from Mithril's temporary death, Terry's week involved wedding plans, relatives in varying stages of health and pregnancy, captured criminals, being rubbed against by strange shapeshifting men, accidentally rescuing poor Seamus from his wife's surprise gift, learning more about some of his relations' pasts, and trying to find new ways to deal with stress. Now he is preparing for what will be his first deliberate participation in a major battle when he joins Mithril's assault against the evil being that is Will's creator...that stress outlet may be on its way.

The Cloaked One (The Multifarious): Doing a little 'outpatient' recovery after being worked on by Cryptopakolips. One wonders what he looks like now...

Ynik (The Multifarious): Reports indicate that a number of elves and humans captured by the Giant Gang were freed by a lizard man sorcerer of some kind...

Yoshi (KitsuneNineTails): He firmly denies having anything to do with the prank that was pulled upon Rei and his dark elf friend.

Zohak (ABafflingEnigma): Zohak thinks that formaldehyde is a rather horrid scent. Other than that, there is not a whole lot of news to reveal on this one.
