Though section VII of our Terms of Use clearly states: "You understand that the T.O.U. for Mutual Endeavors is subject to change at any time, be it editing for spelling, rewording or additions. It is the sole responsibility of M.E members to be familiar with and periodically check the T.O.U." I felt it might be necessary to inform you all that they have very recently been updated. There are three additions that are precisely related to our policies concerning the Fireboard.
Our T.O.U. only has nine sections. At first, I considered adding an entirely new, tenth section, but after reading them over and over again, editing a few things for grammar and spelling, I changed my mind. Two of the new additions fit well enough in section II, where they were placed as clauses A and B.
The decision to add these two clauses was based on certain statements I've noticed over the course of time. Though, I will admit that the final straw was reading what was written by one of our newest members on the Bitch Fest board. Once I hear something like, "I'm not sure if this is permitted," enough times, it starts to sink in.
I came to the understanding that not everybody reads everything. Most new members jump right to the Terms of Use, read only that, and go about their merry way. But just as there is a FAQ section devoted to our Ubiquitous Newsletter, there is also a FAQ section devoted to our policies concerning the Fireboard forum itself.
In some cases, we tend to think of the Fireboard forum as a completely seperate entity from the whole of Mutual Endeavors. That's probably because it's one small section of everything else we represent. But we do realize that people will certainly have questions about the forum, how to do this and that, what is expected of them. So that's why we created the M.E. Fireboard Forum FAQ with its growing number of questions and answers.
Our FAQs change and grow whenever we think of something new to address. The T.O.U. changes only when it becomes apparent that something that should have been obvious needs to be explicitly pointed out to people. You have questions, we, the administration, have answers. A helpful point in the right direction doesn't hurt.
The third addition is added as a bullet under section IV, clause A. Though it also relates to our policies concerning the Fireboard forum, I thought new and old members needed a little reminder of where that information can be found detailed.
Then ... I decided to add a tenth section. Since I can't say it enough to people who seem to get the impression that we're a hive mind, there it is in our Terms of Use now, clear as day.
