The Name Our Room Contest PDF Print E-mail
Written by SM, on 15-10-2007 12:58

All this started from a couple of threads in the General Discussion folder of our forums.  Most of which concerns the new poll I just put up here on the front page comes from "Baby Needs a New Name!"  My tremendous thanks and unending gratitude goes out to those of you who pitched a few suggestions my way.  It's been a tough decision to narrow it down to five based on what I was shooting for, but I've finally picked the five I like the best and inserted them in the poll.

Your mission, my dear members, should you accept it, is to vote on this poll and help us decide what name for our room stands out best.  Which of the five choices best defines Mutual Endeavors as a whole as well as the point of our flashchat room.  An out of character, player-only meeting place for people to sit around and BS about anything and everything they so choose.  Be it role-play itself or other life events.  A place for people to meet new friends and hang out with old ones.  To make ties to better promote, support, and advance FFRP!

It truly was a very difficult decision.  Based on the credentials I originally put up, I'm not even sure all of the suggestions fit.  Even of the ones I've chosen.  But those top five ring a certain bell that makes me tingle in my happy places, and for one reason or another makes me think: Mutual Endeavors.  Let me try to show you a little of what's hiding behind each door.

  • Conjecture Junction - I'm really a big fan of alliteration and how words flow together. Those two words together have the same type of poetic feel to them as Mutual Endeavors does itself.  Go ahad and say them out loud: "Conjecture Junction." Then crack open a dictionary and check out the definitions.  They just seem to fit so well together.  I like them.
  • Serendipity - When Zonker suggested this one, at first it made me go, "What?"  Then I finally got around to cracking open a dictionary myself and I instantly fell in love with the word thereafter.  "The faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for."  It just has a certain ring to it, doesn't it? Plus it could be mistaken for "serenity" just by sound alone.
  • Stalkers Anonymous - This one was included for nostalgia's sake.  Before we ever had our very own website, and when I only ever chatted in AOL or AIM rooms, that was the common name I chose for the member chat that I opened up on occasion.  Started on account of a little teasing humor between myself and my good friend Randy, and how we both end up with all these stalkers online.
  • The Green Room - I can't help it.  I like the idea behind this as much as the person who suggested it does.  It makes me think of that little room set aside for all of us behind the scenes of our role-play where we can just hang out, catch our breath, munch on some cookies and try to relax before our star performances.
  • The Think Tank - There's that alliteration thing again.  Taryn gets a gold star for two of her suggestions making it up in the final top five list.  I'll have to figure out a way to give it to her. This idea makes me think of a brainstorming session, and one of the benefits of sitting around in an OOC room is talking nonsense that eventually helps us come up with new RP ideas!

All righty.  So there's a little insight into the inner workings of the Nefarious SM's scary mind depths for you.  I hope you take the time to seriously think about what each of these potential winning ME names really truly means before you go click happy on the poll.  Speaking of which, you also might have noticed I've done a little more rearranging.  The poll itself can now be found just under the "Peeps Online" member list and the "who's in the chat" box there on the right hand side of the main home page of our site.

Now get out there and vote!
