So here's September, and you should all know full well what that means by now. You really should. I mean, really. I've been blabbering on about it all month long. Now that August is over, I'm done talking about it. But for one last thing: we should be done working on the forums by now. The old proboard, as announced, has been semi-permanently locked down until further notice. It now stands as a read-only archive. No new posts can be made over there, and nobody should be able to reply to any of the old threads. If this is incorrect, please somebody tell me...
I'm done with the forums, personally. For now, I've done all I can do. There are still some bugs that need worked out, but nothing that really makes a huge difference. Members are still capable of accessing the new forums. Everybody can post on them and reply to topics just fine. The fireboard certainly isn't perfect, but it's going to take far much more time than I anticipated to get it up to 100%. The pretty isn't half as important as the functionality. The forums work, and that should keep people reasonably happy for a time. I would very much like to be able to take my mind off of the forums completely. I'm considering setting someone up as the official forum moderator while I work on running the rest of the site. There is still quite a lot of work to do to make Mutual Endeavors perfectly perfect. The forums are only one small piece of the whole. There's so much more I want this site to be. Such as the new base of operations of the Ink Wire Associates and Ubique's Weekly. This month my project is the newsletter. Ubique's Weekly is the personal task I'm setting myself up to improve. When Kelsey originally implored me to revive the old newsletter, I must confess my trepidation at first. Being editor and chief of a large-scale newsletter as strikingly pretty as Ubique's Weekly is no easy task. The more people I get signing up for a subscription, the more information I receive, and the more I have to compile and pretty up for every issue. It became such a daunting task back in the day that I had to recruit some help. That help came with the Ink Wire Associates, and this month I'll be looking to reinstate them as well. My intention is not to reinstate the original IWA members as listed in older issues dating back to 2005. One of them is no longer with us in role-play land anyway. A couple of them don't want their old jobs back. I shouldn't even really call them jobs, because it's not like I'm paying anyone to help me with this project. At least not with money. The payment is the pleasure of staying on top in the information circle. The payment is the effort in the struggle of helping keep the dream of freeform cooperative role-playing alive in well through the tennants we here at Mutual Endeavors started. Communication is key. On our old LJ forum, the 8th of May this year, I posted up an advertisement searching for new interested parties to join the Ink Wire Associates. My advertisement may not have been very enticing. As one member once told me, I made it seem as if the requirements were absolute and if a person had no knowledge of such things they were automatically not eligible. This is not true and I apologize for any misconceptions. The current Ink Wire Associates consist of myself, Kelsey, and Mel. Mike is an honorary IWA member, but he really doesn't do anything more than keep our site up and running and pretty for all to see. If you would like to look back at the old LJ to see my previous advertisement, please feel free to do so. I am still looking for people to fill certain positions, but I realize now that I really need to rethink the positions I need. So within this month I plan on reorganizing the IWA. Anyone interested in an administrative, newsletter assistant position is free to contact me at any time. There come with it certain perks that I may or may not detail. I'm a little leery on receiving a slew of emails or PMs from a thousand different trollers who don't know the first thing about management and how to run a group. But even if you're curious, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm sure we can talk. As this is the first news of the new month, I truly think I've rambled on quite enough. The short of the long is that I plan on improving Ubique's Weekly and reorganizing how it's sent out in the future. We have some interesting new options here on the website that I never had before, and it's going to take me some time to learn the system concerning newsletters. Until next time, welcome to September and stay tuned! Last update: 01-09-2007 18:31
