Ubique's Weekly
A Mutual Endeavors Publication
Issue #91 ~ 1 September 2007
The Blurb Heeey, look at that. It's Saturday, and look what I remembered to do! I remembered to write the latest issue of the newsletter! Can you believe it?
Top Story! As of early this morning, the old Mutual Endeavors proboards has been near permanently locked down. All the reasons and explanations concerning this have been previously covered throughout the month of August, in the final Staff Bulletin on that forum, and frequently on the new Mutual Endeavors website. I won't bother to go into too much detail concerning those same things here, as I very much loathe repeating myself. Never mind the fact that I did a lot of repeating myself all over cyberspace up until this moment.
The old proboard can still be accessed at http://ehzoterik.proboards50.com/index.cgi, and the old posts that started there can still be read. The forum has been left as an archived, read-only forum for those stories that were just sort of pointless to transfer over to our new forums on the official ME website. I have also disabled the ability for new members to be able to register to the old forum. This prevents new members from being able to read certain boards and sub-boards, I know, but those stories over there are so old and out of date that I don't forsee anyone ever getting around to going back and reading them all if they haven't already.
If you are not a registered member of the old proboard and would like to be able to view some of the old posts there that you can't, please feel free to contact me and request permission to register. I can manually set up accounts, just as I can on the ME site. I just don't want to encourage people to sign up for something that's not going anywhere for a good long awhile. Pointless to encourage false hopes and all that.
This Just In Heeey! Check this out. I have a Headline for once that I didn't write up by myself. Sorry this one is coming out so late, though. It was originally sent on the 23rd of August. That was only a week ago, and it's not really completely old news. There's been a lot of chatter surrounding this news on the new ME forums. Check it out!
Law & Rhy'Din : The trial of Renne Arc'err creeps forward. Charged with the murder of six people and animal cruelty, he is to be represented by the lawyers of Dewey, Cheetum and Howe. On the opposite side of the courtroom, Harold Lowe has been made prosecutor of the case. Arraignment not yet set. More on this breaking story as it comes in.
In Other News... Got a large handful of character news that spans back for the past couple of weeks. A couple of people actually sent me updates! And shame on me for never writing the last two issues that should have been circulated in August, because that news never got out. I've also got some information based on the spying I did in play myself within the past couple weeks. So let's see what we've got for you.
Allen Baird (A Flaming Flamer): Recent breaking news as of yesterday evening states the theory that our favorite, friendly neighborhood pyropath may have been kidnapped! Authorities are still speculating whether or not this theory has any validity to it, but friends and family who know Allen are convinced that something foul is in the air.
Ambrose (his sullen craft): Nobody has really seen hide nor hair of the Elder in the past couple of weeks. Rumor has it that his "son" Sinjin has been looking for him. His absence does not seem too unusual, if you ask us.
Dris (BardGaIIant): Last anyone heard, Dris went venturing off into the mysterious wide blue yonder with his loyal companion Icarus. Nobody has seen him in the public for quite some time.
Faye: She Who Tends the Dead (Faye Random): Two weeks ago on the Thursday of the 23rd, the spirit of entropy and decay paid a visit to her adopted son Mesteno at the Medieval Tavern. Eye witness reports state that she was expressing an unusually affectionate side in public, while at the same time lecturing the sadist about the necessity to take care of his problems before they fester.
Gage Sterling (Aversion Toward): Here's a face a lot of people haven't seen in a good long while. Eye witnesses at the Rambling Rose Tavern spotted him dipping into the public eye on the Friday of the 24th this past month. He was seen in the company of another man known only as Gavin.
Gale Soames (I like AIexander): The word on Gale is that he's a fugitive from the law. Rumor has it that he was seen in the company of Dris's nephew Quinn Norcross some time near the end of the month. He too has gone AWOL from the Garden, and is suspected of being responsible for the murder of a local citizen.
Gavin (Chaos Reclaimed): Also known more frequently as "the smartass." Gavin usually doesn't get out much, and when he does it's generally a volatile situation. The public was pleased to report that being in the company of one Gage Sterling seemed to balance him out well enough and keep him from shooting anyone in the face on a whim.
Harold Lowe (HGLowe): An update from the 23rd of August, in conjunction with a headline above, states: Said unwilling prosecutor has been seen hanging around one of his old haunts in the Medieval for lunch or a late dinner, working on his case files. Word is that he ran afoul of some of the tight-knit crowd at the Red Dragon Inn, and has been avoiding the place for the sake of his own sanity.
Icarus Marcotte (SubtIe Iies): Our favorite, friendly neighborhood half-dragon made a brief appearance at the Rambling Rose Tavern this past week. Some suspect he only made his appearance to flirt his face off, and make a couple of people uncomfortable because of it!
Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): She's been spotted nearly every single day at the Rambling Rose Tavern. As far as any eyewitnesses are concerned, she doesn't do much but sit there at the counter with her mouth wrapped around food instead of conversation. Nobody knows what's been happening with her, except for the fact that she's still got a bun in the oven.
Jacob Arche (Jacob Arche): A report sent in on the 15th of August states: Jacob was spotted looking haggard (as usual) for a few moments at the Rambling Rose. He left rather quickly after arriving, however. Earlier that week, he'd stumbled head long into some sort of Hawaii cook out going on at the Medieval Tavern and got himself a free burger out of it, cooked by Christine. He was amused at the coconuts, skirts, and awful prints but once again, wasn't able to stay due to time constraints. Jacob's really looking forward to a couple of days off, and curious as to why Storm missed her weekend at the Shelter.
Jolen (Truth Denyed): Here's another one who dropped off the face of Rhydin for a time. The youth was recently spotted at the Rambling Rose Tavern, where there he erupted in a challenging bit of an argument with the owner and proprieter Seamus Wylie. The outcome to this verbal fight lead to the youth taking his leave abruptly before Mr. Wylie had any real chance to prolong the issue. Will Jolen ever go back to the Rose? Only time will tell.
Martin Gilcrest (I Like Tonberry): Word's out that the paranoid schizophrenic pyromaniac (good combination, right?) has turned up going AWOL from the Garden. Fellow SeeD and team member Tom was seen at the RRT interrogating the regulars about whether or not he or other fellow team member Gale have been seen.
Morgan Knight (Morgan Rampage): Rumor has it that he and Stormraven have finally made it official.
Natha Oreb (SN Unknown): News dating back from the 15th of August claims that: The drow decorated head to toe with silver skin has been spotted skulking about along the Medieval Tavern's porch rail, a second favorite haunt. Originally, she'd been seen as a fixture on the porch of the Red Dragon Inn, but nothing calls nor keeps here there anymore, so the drow roams. As to where she's been, it's probably a safe guess to think she'd spent some time in the Underdark, slitting the throats of dear family and friends. What's pulled her to the surface as well as an attempt at sanity is always a mystery few are willing to pry out of the drow's jaws.
Penrith Towley (Aversion Toward): The Seeker went MIA for a while there! People were beginning to suspect that he had just vanished off the face of Rhydin, or decided he didn't want anything to do with anyone anymore, or some other crazy nonsense. Truth is, he found a portal back to his home world of Methuen and got a little lost again for a time. He's recently back in Rhydin, though, and hoping to help establish a Seeker Veritas presence, on orders from the Seeker General and his likely-to-be-appointed superior, you could say Captain, Seeker Caliban Fortannis.
Quinn Norcross (Quinn Norcross): Quinn's been dropping all kinds of bombs in the rumor mill recently. He dropped by the Rambling Rose Tavern this past week, just because he hadn't been there in a long time, to say hello. There he ran into Anne, and pumped up the rumors that they may just be dating. He has neither confirmed nor denied these suspicions. Nor has he confirmed nor denied his relationship to Jolen either. Seems the self-proclaimed inventor likes to play games.
R'cha (Iionpride): While people may have seen her bondmate, R'cha herself has been very scarce. She's still recovering from that whole being the only one of her kind in an entire world illness she had been having before they found home again. Now that she has a fellow ghatti to hang out with, she seems reluctant to be too far from them.
Renley Killian (A Common Cur): The notoriously loathed blind psion, Mr. Renley Killian, was last seen at the Rambling Rose Tavern on the 21st of this past month. While he did not extensively interact with any of the patrons, he did make it a point to generally antagonize the locals simply by being there.
Salvador Delahada (Karmic Venganza): While Salvador doesn't spend a whole lot of time in the public eye these days, he has been seen at the RRT on a number of occasions within the past month. Mostly he has been in the company of his usual companion Sinjin Fai. Though, most recently, he was strangely in a conversational mood concerning the topic of human nature's hidden drive to procreate. What does this mean?
Sinjin Fai (Sinjin Fai): The sinner has been less seen in the public eye these past few weeks than Salvador. Or has he been more seen? It's difficult to say. They aren't always connected at the hip as most people seem to believe. Rumor has it that the ominous absence of his father Ambrose has left him on edge and suspicious.
Stormraven k'Leshya (StormravenSpirit): Rumor has it that Stormraven went to some social event of the century back on Earth with her rumored-to-be boyfriend Morgan Knight.
Tom (I Like Shiva): The pugilist was spotted at the Rambling Rose Tavern this past week, searching for two of his missing SeeD teammates: one Martin Gilcrest and one Gale Soames. Tom was rather tight-lipped concerning the details, but it's become common knowledge now that the pair of them have gone missing in action.
Classifieds Mutual Endeavors LJ Community : Before the message board forum was ever considered, another attempt at keeping Mutual Endeavors alive and active was put into motion with the creation of the LiveJournal Community. If you have a LiveJournal of your own, you are thoroughly encouraged to join our community at any time. Stay up-to-date and in the loop with our random ramblings and discussions. Some are held there and others are held on our forum. Everyone is welcome. ). * * * Rambling Rose Tavern : The Rambling Rose Tavern is a bar and grill establishment in town, owned and operated by Seamus Wylie and Katie Rose Wylie. Stop in and enjoy a drink or a home-style meal, but before you do check out the rules and room description by following this link: http://www.ramblingrosetavern.net. There are plenty of fun times to be had at the Rambling Rose Tavern! Don't hesitate to join in on them whenever possible. * * * Storyboard Archive : The freeform role-playing group more commonly known as Mutual Endeavors had once added its storylines and characters to a message board forum for player convenience. It was decided that it would be beneficial to allow players a less time-restricted venue in which to present their characters' stories and participate interactively. Since that time, things have changed and this old forum is now a read-only resource, but still worth checking if you're up for some good reading. * * * Subscribe Now! : Ubique's Weekly is a publication provided by the not-for-profit organization known as Mutual Endeavors. As a free source of literary entertainment, you as the reader have the liberty to send out copies of our publication to whomever you think might enjoy the information shared. To save yourselves the hassle of constantly forwarding what you might find amusing, feel free at any time to inform your friends and coconspirators to contact the Editor to request their very own future copies of Ubique's Weekly at no cost to them whatsoever. It's as simple as clicking this link here above. * * * Ubique's Archive : For several years now, the Ink Wire Associates and I have been trying to archive every old issue of Ubique's Weekly onto the internet. It has been a slow-going process, and finally every past issue has been coded and archived to the new site. Do enjoy.
Final Thoughts Not really a whole lot for me to stay. It's late in the afternoon. I probably should have written this newsletter early in the morning before I forgot about it. But fortunately, and regardless, I remembered about it! So that's one positive thing to cheer about.
Subscription requests can now be sent to

, or can be made on the official Mutual Endeavors website. There is a "join our newsletter" button in the lower right hand corner of the front page of our site. I should probably think about changing the above classifieds advertisement that states otherwise.
Updates: can still be sent to me directly, though I would prefer they be sent from now on to
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
, since we are planning on making some changes in the future of this newsletter. Following projects concerning the site, after the transfer of the forums, include determining the future of Ubique's Weekly. Our plan is to eventually set up a perfect anonymous form for players to fill out to send their information to. Until such a time that we have this completely figured out, please continue to send your updates in the usual fashion. My plan is to have all this organized by the time I have finished writing the 100th issue of the newsletter. Please be patient.
The day in which issues of Ubique's Weekly is scheduled to be circulated is also currently up for debate on our website. Check out the poll listed on the front page and share your opinion with us on this matter. The administrative staff is far too indecisive for its own good.
All that said, I will as always and ever continue to be...
