This news is brought to you from the magical land of cross-posting: As most of you should well be aware of by now, Mel and I would like to encourage a complete forum transfer overhaul within the next month or so. Hopefully this project will not take any longer than a month, but there are many factors to consider....
1.Many of you do not check the boards and site as frequently as I should like. This was a problem with the old proboard too. I should like to think that everybody checks the site at least once every time he or she is logged onto the internet, but I imagine it doesn't cross everyone's mind. I can't expect everybody to be as in love with Mutual Endeavors (the concept and the action of it all) as I am.
2. Mostly: there's so much content to move! SO MUCH!
Now, I understand that many of you have more of a life than I do. But at least you're paying attention enough to leave a note saying: "I'll get to it!" I appreciate that. On July 24, 2007, at 22:38, Mel put up a post on the old proboard telling everyone she was giving them a week before she started transferring over all the old posts. This leads to the next issue, though.
3. Not everything is relevant.
I've been browsing every single thread of my own and noticing that a large half of them don't necessarily need to be copied over to the fireboard here. Most of the content in the proboard's Staff Bulletins, General Discussion, and Bitch Fest boards are old news that has long been over and done with. Many of them do not even apply to the current setup of this new forum, such as "Board Icons and Multiple Quotes."
Now, before anyone panics, remember Douglas Adams. This complete transfer is mostly harmless. It does require some work on your part, though. If you are registered, then it is now your job to copy and paste over any relevant content in any of the storytelling and limited edition boards from the proboard to this fireboard. Anything that is not copied, however, is not going to be deleted in a blaze of destroy the old boards forever glory, so don't worry there.
It is my intention to keep the proboard up for viewing. We may even simply use it as an archive for the stories that were left finished, such as The Great Redcap Hunt, regardless of the argument that it isn't finished. The fact remains that people haven't posted in a good long time and everything just sort of stagnated. We've covered this.
However! By the end of the month of August, I will be locking down the old proboard permanently. This means that nobody will ever be able to post there ever again. So if there are stories that have not been finished over there, they are going to have to be transfered to the ME site forums here to be eligible for continuation.
You have one month starting today.
Thank you for your cooperation. Last update: 31-07-2007 21:34
