Ubique's Weekly

A Mutual Endeavors Publication

Issue #87 ~ 21 July 2007

The Blurb

Hello, friends! As you might have noticed, we are sadly absent an SM this week, and you, you poor, poor readers, are forced to suffer through me. I wish you good luck in surviving my probable typos, zombie-like functionality, and rampant confusion. That being said, we have a healthy sized update this week, ready to be served with fries and barbeque sauce for your enjoyment

Top Story!

So some of you might have heard about this ca-raaaaaazy website that's been started up. Yes, that's right, Mutual Endeavors has a new home now: MutualEndeavors.org. So what, exactly, is Mutual Endeavors supposed to be?

Now, I know what you're thinking. We already have a forum. We already have a newsletter. For the most part, we all know each other and have been roleplaying with each other for some time now. However, this is about more than our personal niche on the internet; this is about expanding what began as a small group of roleplayers into a community. Saying to that big ol' interweb world out there: "Hey, this is us, come and join the freakin' party!"

More or less, it's the next step in keeping up our group's namesake. Roleplaying, my dear friends, is a mutual endeavor. And it's one that everyone is invited to-- something that will hopefully become a roleplayer hub equivalent to Dragon's Mark, while still keeping the friendly, creative environment we've always had among ourselves.

So what does this mean for all of you folks? Nothing more than support. Some of you have been involved with ME since day one; your continuing involvement and presence is what keeps the prospects on the horizon. So sign up. Explore the site. Make it your own. Do what you do and rock on while you're doing it. This site is only a baby, but it's about to grow into something awesome.

Storyline Spotlight

We are sadly spotlight-less this week. Remember folks, if you have something awesome going on, or know of something awesome going on, feel free to send in your storyline spotlights and watch yourself become utterly famous! ..Relatively speaking.

This Just In

Headlines:

More Rumbles In the Urban Jungle: For the second time in the past month, patrons of the Rambling Rose Tavern suffered through another battle of wi-- er, monsters, in close proximity. Witnesses report seeing some strange, large lizard tearing it up the roof tops near the Rose with a large, dog-like creature. Although the roof and building seemed to suffer some damage from the scuffle, there are reports of injury. After the recent dragon attack, the neighborhood surrounding the 'Rose is now hyper-aware of any sort of large and deadly specimens wandering. Keep up the vigilant watch against monsters and beasties!

In Other News...

Dris (BardGaIIant)Still in hiding. Probably with Icarus. Which only means trouble.

Ehzoterik VonArcanum Tempestas (Ehzoterik):  There was some kind of big hullaballoo at the Rambling Rose Tavern earlier this week, about some guy who thought it would be a good idea to make a piano out of thin air and plop it in the middle of the bar. Well, naturally, Ehz had to remedy this situation. Wasn't this guy aware of how many interdimensional rules and regulations he was breaking? Sheesh!

Icarus Marcotte (subtle Iies): While Icarus has apparently chosen to keep himself on the downlow, he has reappeared briefly with Cheruth at the ‘Rose, and once at the Anthro Herm Tavern, which horrified him beyond speaking. Needless to say, he’ll take the ‘Rose next time.

Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): What's up with the white blond haired artist behind Bright Suns these days?  Yes, Irina's been seen lurking about the Rambling Rose Tavern at least every other night, as per usual.  As for what's been going on in her life lately?  For one, she's abruptly broken up with Tobias (Tobias Garret).  Irina's also made at least one visit to the Doc (Maranya Valkonan) recently.  What for, only a few people might know for sure.  The Artist sure isn't talking about it.  Stay tuned to find out more.

James Tanner (Myriad Myndz): The Gentleman gambler is still keeping a low profile, Although it's entirely possible he's been lurking about town as of late.

Jolen (Truth Denyed): The red head has been keeping busy with the running of his tavern. He's taken it upon himself to finally get the basement cleaned up and more or less out and hasn't been seen much recently as a result.

Joscelyne Hirsch (Aversion Toward)And like a bad penny, she turns up. Miss Jos and her ferret companion MJ haven't been seen in the longest time. For one reason or another, she wandered into the Rambling Rose Tavern Thursday evening, and as luck would have it she made a couple of new friends.

Justiciar Te (The Multifarious): Recently, this Gielinor native found himself wrested whole from world 70 in the MMORPG Runescape and planted directly into Rhydin.  A man of many accomplishments, he is a master of various kinds of dimensional control - being able, as he is, to change clothes and equipment just by thinking about it - but is actually somewhat mystified by his presence in Rhydin.  While trying to nail down the details, he is enjoying the cuisine, flora and fauna of his resident world.

What's more, it appears that everything associated with him has also made the jump to Rhydin, including his House.  The House of Te may very well turn into a pleasant watering hole for those who can get there; concealed in an extradimensional pocket, its amenities include meat pie, breadsticks with tomato sauce, and what appears to be an infinite supply of cider, hot tea and something called Dragon Bitter that has odd benefits for its imbiber.

Legion (Myriad Myndz): The wired one has been absorbed in his work, quite literally rampaging in worlds of his own making. Virtual dreams, may soon be a reality.

Doctor Maranya Tatiana Valkonan (Maranya Valkonan):   The good and quite reclusive Doctor continues to spend time volunteering her medical services at Riverview Free Clinic, along with tending to her usual patients, which includes one of the tenders at the Silver Moon Inn.  Some of Maranya's patients might best be described as having blessed events in the fairly distant future.  When not working, she dotes on her Siamese cat, Zorro, at her ranch.

The Nameless (Myriad Myndz): The hunter was last seen tracking down His one time food source, only to encounter a new playmate. The genetic hybrid spent the evening chasing a reptilian humanoid around the area surrounding the Rambling Rose Tavern. Until the reptile grew bored and fled down a storm drain that is.

Penrith Towley (Aversion Toward):  The Seeker Veritas screwed up somewhere! He's not exactly certain how the signals got mixed up, but that's what happens when dealing with women, right? The signals always get mixed up! Now he's plagued with the task of figuring out how to make ammends. Blessed Lady, give him strength.

Quinn Norcross (Quinn Norcross):  Nobody's heard from him in a while. What could the self-proclaimed inventor be up to?

R’cha (Iionpride): After being subjected to vague forms of harassment from Sinjin Fai and Salvador Delahada, the ghatta has been instructing Penrith in the fine art of how not to offend a girl. Good luck with that.

Rusty (Myriad Myndz): Rhydin's resident pest control expert has been gearing up for war after his encounter with a few rather large ants. Where there's a few, there's thousands. The next step will be to locate the nest.

Salvador Delahada (Karmic Venganza):  The hunter hasn't spoken much of Egypt at all to anyone except for Sin, which is expected. After all, they were both there. He was recently seen in the Rambling Rose Tavern, where he took over bartending for Cat after chasing her off. She didn't complain much about that.

Sinjin Fai (Sinjin Fai): Does anyone ever wonder what Sin does for a living? Yeah, we wonder too. Especially with him suddenly showing up well-groomed, or subtly threatening people on the phone, or disappearing frequently for long periods of time.. Probably runs a daycare or something.

Specimen 64723 (Aversion Toward)This strange critter was spotted this past week around the dumpsters of the Rambling Rose Tavern. Eye witnesses weren't completely certain what they saw, though, other than a blur of white being chased by some large dog-like creature.

Val Shyre (XValentineShyreX):  Where's she been?  Socializing with new people.  Though that hasn't turned out the best of times.  So it's back to the Rose and more time with Sin and Sal.  She might try this whole 'dating' thing again at some point but it'll be a while before she gets thrown back into that cycle.

Classifieds

Mutual Endeavors ForumThe freeform role-playing group more commonly known as Mutual Endeavors has moved its storylines and characters to a message board forum for player convenience.  It was decided that it would be beneficial to allow players a less time-restricted venue in which to present their characters' stories and participate interactively.  Not everyone can be online at the same times all the time.  Therefore we opened up this forum to the masses.  If you're interested, registration is completely free and unmoderated.  Check it out!

Mutual Endeavors LJ Community Before the message board forum was ever considered, another attempt at keeping Mutual Endeavors alive and active was put into motion with the creation of the LiveJournal Community.  If you have a LiveJournal of your own, you are thoroughly encouraged to join our community at any time.  Stay up-to-date and in the loop with our random ramblings and discussions.  Some are held there and others are held on our forum.  Everyone is welcome. Don't be shy!

Subscribe Now! : Ubique's Weekly is a publication provided by the not-for-profit organization known as Mutual Endeavors.  As a free source of literary entertainment, you as the reader have the liberty to send out copies of our publication to whomever you think might enjoy the information shared.  To save yourselves the hassle of constantly forwarding what you might find amusing, feel free at any time to inform your friends and coconspirators to contact the Editor to request their very own future copies of Ubique's Weekly at no cost to them whatsoever.  It's as simple as clicking this link here above.

Ubique's Archive :  For several years now, the Ink Wire Associates and I have been trying to archive every old issue of Ubique's Weekly onto the internet.  It has been a slow-going process, and I assure you that not every past issue has been completely coded and uploaded to the site.  The work is, to say the least, very tedius.  We're doing the best we can.  In the future, we may also simply move all new issues to the site and do away with a mailing list entirely.  We'll see.  Until such a decision is reached, old news is still news and well worth the read.  Do enjoy.

Final Thoughts

Congratulations. You've survived me writing this. Somewhere in the world, there is Final Fantasy victory music playing for you with several pixelated characters lifting their arms up and down in a stiff, mostly repetitive manner.

Go give yourself some EXP.
