Ubique's Weekly
A Mutual Endeavors Publication
Issue #86 ~ 14 July 2007
The Blurb "Hey, SM! Where's the newsletter been?" I bet you've all been mentally asking me that question for the past two weeks. I can feel it in my bones! Well, my friends, I've been very busy lately and I'm about to reveal why.
Top Story! Mutual Endeavors online! It's official! As of July 10, 2007, after two long weeks of hard work and correspondence, we've finally, for the first time ever in recorded history, acquired ourselves an official M.E. website! The Nefarious SM has been doing lots of rejoicing! The story of our success begins on our LiveJournal Community, where on July 15th I announced securing an official domain name for our group. At the time, I had not yet secured any website hosting, but was looking into a dozen and one options. A comment was left by recently appointed Ink Wire Associate elf_fu suggesting I contact a man by the name of Mike Bell, who, according to her, provided discounted services for role-playing websites.
After a week of independent searching and developing headaches from all the different options out there that I didn't completely understand, I finally decided to contact Mike Bell, and I'm exceedingly glad that I did. On June 22, I sent him an e-mail. I was amazed with the quick reply I received the very next day. He was more than willing to help out our cause. Most of the notes concerning our correspondence can be found on the M.E. Community Journal linked to above.
Two weeks after initial contact, I received another collection of e-mails from Mike. What I thought would have taken months of work only turned out to be two weeks worth, much to my surprise! He had been working long and hard making a website that he thought could best suit our needs, and it's almost as if he were in my mind the entire time. On July 10, 2007: mutualendeavors.org went live for the very first time in recorded M.E. history.
Now, it is my belief that we finally have everything we have ever needed concerning Mutual Endeavors. We finally have our very own official website, and not some shoddy HTML nightmare the likes of which I used to have on geocities. With this website comes changes, though, and it's in your best interest to have read this entire article to be made aware of them. With the new system, there may be changes in the way the newsletter is sent out in the future. There may even be less content in our future issues of Ubique's Weekly, because it seems a great deal of the content I put here can be secured to the website instead. Stay sharp and keep your eyes peeled to the changes ahead. Some of them may come without warning.
Most of all, I'm providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for all readers of this newsletter to be the first to be informed of the creation of our new website. Check us out at mutualendeavors.org. Sign up and register for free. Inform your friends! Have your friends inform their friends and so on! We'd very much like to make Mutual Endeavors large and in charge on the face of the world wide web, but we need your help to make that dream a reality. I even sort of want to give Dragon's Mark some competition. Whatta ya say, my friends? Up for a challenge?

This Just In It is my sneaking suspicion that because people were beginning to believe that UW had come to another unexpected abrupt forever halt, that nobody submitted me any news out of fear that the newsletter would never be printed ever again. That's not true. I've just been very busy. See the above Top Story! article for details.
In Other News... My sincere apologies in advance, as whatever individual character news that may be presented here are printed solely based on the editor in chief's crap-tastic memory of events that have transpired within the past two weeks. Nobody bothered to send me any news whatsoever, but that's okay. Fortunately I'm in a good enough mood to make up things as I go along, based on what I personally witnessed. If you don't like what you see, then maybe you should've submitted me something.
Dris (BardGaIIant): The bard was last seen at the Rambling Rose Tavern a week or so ago, in the company of one Icarus Marcotte. Believe it or not, Dris didn't have a lot to say. He seemed to be playing the part of pampering body-guard for the half-dragon. Hasn't been seen since.
Irina Braeden (Irina Braeden): She's been seen lurking about the Rambling Rose Tavern at least every other night, as per usual. As to what's been going on in her life? Well, nobody really knows, because Irina doesn't speak up very often.
Salvador Delahada (Karmic Venganza): Last known whereabouts? Egypt.
Sinjin Fai (Sinjin Fai): Yes. And not surprising, Sin was last known to be in Egypt too.
Classifieds Pay very close attention, as I have an important announcement to make regarding this section of the newsletter. In light of the creation of the new official Mutual Endeavors website, it is very likely that this section of the newsletter will be removed from all future issues of Ubique's Weekly. On the official website (mutualendeavors.org), there is a links section that pretty much covers all the information usually provided within. The forum and the LJ community can all be reached through the main hub of the website, and no longer need to be listed here. Subscription requests can also now be made directly from the website. And in the future, the archive will be completely renovated and moved over there as well.
In fact, a great deal of the news covered in this newsletter -- at least SM's frequent ramblings -- can be accessed and read on the main website. Hopefully this will cut down on unnecessary content, such as SM's uncanny ability to drone on and on about subjects, like she's doing now.
Announcements This section of the newsletter may very well stay, regardless of how infrequently it is used. As luck would have it, however, I received an update close to two weeks ago from one of our readers who hardly gets a chance to role-play anymore because of real life endeavors such as baby-raising that keep her occupied. Our good friend Chelle (aka: Ma11ora) has informed us that her youngest son Thorsten, the "Lil Thunder god," has turned one full year old as of today: July 14, 2007! So happy birthday to you, you little lightning lord! Please don't blow up your mommy, daddy, or big sister. Though, other sorts of thunder are perfectly acceptable, as you are just a wee baby still.
Final Thoughts Well, my friends. That pretty much covers everything this week. I didn't have a lot to work with, but I did want to get the word printed and presented for all our subscribers to read. That means I'm going to say it again. CHECK OUT: MUTUALENDEAVORS.ORG!!! Can you tell that I'm really excited about this? There's just so much content, and as previously mentioned I plan on turning the website into our future one-stop source hub for all your M.E. needs. Just bear with us during the construction phases, and please oh please do tell us what you think. Comments and opinions are always welcome, as we've made this website for YOU. All of you. The players.
As our newsletter: mutualendeavors.org is a source written by players for players. Keep me informed and I'll always continue to be...
Keeping you informed, -- The Nefarious SM Editor In Chief Ubique's Weekly Mutual Endeavors |
