No, I'm not pregnant again.
But I've been thinking on this and thinking on this and thinking on this, and finally I broke down and decided to poll you guys for some ideas again.
If we go ahead and keep the flashchat, which I'm leaning more and more toward yes given the poll results day by day and the enthusiasm from other members, I'm thinking we need to name the room(s). And hopefully some day we'll get it personalized in color scheme so that it's not so much ugly default blue and more MEish. Slow and steady...
In any case, yes. We need to give our baby a name. I've been known in the past to open up a member room in A&E on AOL and call it "stalkers anonymous" just for general BSing and OOC chit-chat in our off times. Which is what I think our site flashchat is likely to be used for the most. Since I nor anyone else really wants to use it for role-playing. As I've said, that's not our purpose. We're not here to create and govern environments to play in, only support the ones that already exist.
However, I've considered calling it Limbo. RP Limbo. Heh heh. Limbo being where Ehz lives and Ehz being sort of my personal character avatar in the living RP world. I mean, why not? But that's only one idea.
I love creativity and I love hearing new and innovative ideas. Given that like the rest of our site it'll be a no-holds-barred censorship free environment, keep in mind that the swearing filter has been destroyed (thanks to Mel). Our site is geared toward an adult grouping, 18 and over (which is yet another thing I need to make clear somewhere). So chatting in the room will be unmonitored and restriction free. Unless one of us admins is in there and want to play moderation nazi like Randy does. Good thing he's not an admin, hahaha!
Anyway! What should we call our baby? What spiffy name should we give our player refugee camp flashchat? Any ideas?

until you do you can change that on the user lever by going Options Themes and selecting a new theme from the drop down menu.

I know, but all the defaults are ugly as sin. The default blue's the only one good for my eyes. For now.

I vote for The Green Room for the OOC room name.
As for the room color scheme, I vote for the one with the fewest bells and whistles involved with it. Being on dialup, the more frills involved, the laggier things get for me.

Oooh. For color scheme, I'm hoping for something that matches the layout of the entire site as it currently stands. Dark on light, with warm hues of browns and reds and reddish browns and... well. Yes.
Mel did our layout for the old proboard and the current LiveJournal. I'm sure she'll be able to master something equally awesome for our flashchat. But all in due time. I'm not going to rush her on that.
Though, while I'm thinking about it, we still seem to be having some trouble with a bug that hides people. People pop in and don't see some people, then have to exit the program and reload it only to see everybody for certain. I keep getting suggestions that there's likely a bug in the programming somewhere, but damned if I know how to fix it. If someone knows how and would like to walk me through it, that'd be great.

I have no clue how to do either.
Second glance at the templates and faq's for them simply drive home the fact it's confusing.
If it were CSS then maybe. It's not.
Also, I vote for naming it: Ecky- ecky- ecky- ecky- pikang- zoop- boing- goodem- zoo- owli- zhiv

"basically", doing the layout is just a matter of changing color codes of different items and designing a background graphic.
You can get more into it with buttons shapes and such, but I believe you need to develop flash files for those. We use one of the base button designs on DM.
When testing, however, you will need to clear the flash cache after each update in order to see the difference. Use the link on our "black screen fix" to do so.

I have a some what general gist of it just by eye balling the files, but I don't trust my gists because if I break it, I can't fix it

Copy one of the current template config files and name it something new... play with that... you don't have to change any system stuff at that point, just have your client use the new theme while testing. If you screw it up, all you need to do is either change back to an original theme or worst case run the black screen fix to reset your flash so it uses the default theme.
