Speaking of Wikis, I've moved the Very beta wiki for staff only to the main menu so that it can be accessible to regular members, too. Testing is encouraged. Ehz, feel free to change the start pages to whatever you like. Right now, it's all default.

It's been moved out of the staff only, because with the chnages made to the appearance, it's presentable enough to "play" test now. The Wiki has some interesting features and is actually based on DokuWiki.

To submit a new page, just do a search for any item you like, say RDI. If the Wiki doesn't find that page, you can create the page.

Interesting. Maybe I'll fiddle around with it later. Just more to add to my list of things to do, though.

I say dive right in and at least change the opening page a tab. Take 10 minutes. Also, the good thing about the Wiki is that all members can contribute to it, so hopefully you won't be stuck doing all the work.

Very well then. Observe my increasing lack of inspiration and potentially bleeding disinterest.

I have NO idea what to use the wiki for just yet. Especially considering that Dragon's Mark has already got a Rhy'din wiki up and running now. I don't want there to be two of them out there.

Okay. Let me point out again: Group project. Two wikis defeat the purpose.

When I thought of this and brought it up (without knowing Panther had started something like it) I wanted this to NOT fly under one banner. Not Dragonsmark. Not Mutual Endeavors. Not GR. Even if it's open to all, wherever it's hosted, I wanted this to be a project that the admins work on together (hence the, "Let's talk about this.") because this is one project everyone can easily agree on. We can all agree vandalism is bad, and we can all agree that the more content, the cooler, and philosophies don't have to even be brought into it.

So, we have two potential wikis, from two sites, and I want (whether I get it or not) one wiki for everyone, run by the admins from all the Rhy'Din forums (DM, GR, RoH, ME) or at least run via popular vote by said admins, so this is a genuinely collaborative project that we can all share nicely.

Keep talkin'. :-P

Discuss which, discuss the pluses and minuses, discuss how we would patrol it, discuss any potential policies governoring it. Make my month!

www.realmofrhydin.com is not "Dragon's Mark Wiki".

realmofrhydin.com is a site I had before DM was even an idea. I was playing more in the Duels than anything when I started it.

realmofrhydin.com is hosted on my personal account, not on DM's, the sponsored by tag is there cause I want it to help DMs search rankings. I dunno, essentially, I am DM, I'm paying for the site, so basically I'm sponsoring it.

anyways, it was always meant to be a site to cover RDI, Duels, and whatever else, using a wiki so anyone that has something to contribute can.

So... it's there... it's open. The domain isn't associated with anyone/anything else. I'm open to... will need help keeping it organized. So, hopefully folks find it worthwhile.

That was a broad statement I gave. I just wanted to clarify how important I felt the cooperation aspect was. Thanks for clarifying the idea for me.

So, what does everyone think? How do we handle:

Patrolling for vandalizing (though I'd hope that authors for it would do a lot of this themselves)?

Policies? (I vote for, natch, no personal contact info unless it's your own, including screennames.)

POV? (NPOV like on Wikipedia, or something less restrictive?)

Actual form? (Spelling, grammar, etc.)

Probably at least a few people have noticed that the wiki at realmofrhydin.com has been taken down and replaced with a note that "This site is currently ... indefinately... closed."

I don't know when, or if, that wiki is ever going to be put back up. I don’t know why it was closed. I can speculate that it involved some concerns about not giving credit for material that had been copied verbatim from various sources, or about disputes about different versions of settings developed by different members of the community, or about what should be considered “canon”, or some other completely different reason. Again, I really don’t know what happened.

I still think an independent Rhy’Din wiki is a good idea - not just to show one group’s fixed vision of Rhy’Din, but allowing for all the different possibilities and evolutions. There were a few members of both communities who had contributed several articles for that wiki before it imploded. We all have our own idea of what Rhy’Din is, and it’d be nice to see those concepts grow together into some sort of all-inclusive compendium.

Is anyone else still interested in the wiki?

Yes. Steph and I have been talking about it, actually. The question still remains: where is the best place for it? We still have the Mutual Wiki, but in comparison to the RoR it's not as pretty and slower to work with. None of us want it to be any one project run by any one organization. Mostly so that incidences such as temporarily shutting it down don't happen.

I know why it was disabled, though I think the reasons for it are silly and amount to little more than paranoia. You can ask Panther. He's the one I asked about it, because I wanted to get copies of the works I contributed. My bad for not thinking to save copies previously.

Yes, I'm still very interested. Also very sick at the moment; I'll get in touch as soon as I feel a little better. Thanks again, Ehz; you were a lifesaver.
