Yeah, but I also think Mel's concern is about that ANY MEMBER CAN CONTRIBUTE thing. I mean. Honestly. What's stopping some certain vindictive little fuckwits (you know who you are) from playing troll?

I have the same reservations as elf_fu, but I'd also like to think the M.E. community as a whole is mature enough not to spazz out on Wiki content. That said, I'm familiar with Wiki code and I think there should be a Rhydin Wiki and I am willing to help with that.

Edited to add that if some individual does turn out to be an absolute troll and defaces the Wiki, Wikis do show who made what edits.

Well, right now I'm just saying it's something to consider for the future. I know there's a lot of setup everyone's still working on, so it's not an immediate do-or-die thing. Just an idea we can discuss, and maybe implement in the future. Mel's right. The atmosphere right now just isn't right for this.

I would firmly want this to be a big mutual endeavor. At least, open to the RDI players, and in as such, I would want the RDI admins to help and have a say. However, my faith in them right now is very tenuous, and I know that the admins here are busy with a lot of things. I likewise know that I'm still working on GR and am not ready to take on another project until I'm happy with its early performance.

But I think the idea is definitely worth just chewing on, for the future. After things settle. After we're comfortable in the performance of our sites, etc. ME and GR are both still in pretty critical early growth times, and DM/RDI... well, I believe that they need to really think about their mission statement and how some things are being handled there.

So, let's say that this is a backburner-someday-down-the-road idea and just chew on it here for awhile. I will help with it, Ehz, when everyone who might be involved feels the time is right for it. But let's keep it on the 'discussion-to-do' list?

Then people go back and correct it, just like they do with any other wiki.

Honestly, the wiki is a benefit to -any- Rhy'din organization. If they wreck it, it's there own fault. I'm just thinking about the positives of how awesome it would be to have a working Rhy'din wiki resource.

I agree about it being a potentially huge asset for Rhy'Din. That's why I like the idea so much -- yeah, people can screw it up, but they do that with Wikipedia too. You just revert and ban. But right now, as I said, I think it can wait awhile. Not forever, just until we're all a little more comfortable and a little less high wired.

The idea of a user-generated giant wiki of Rhy'Din is fun. And wiki-code and that is very easy to learn. So, let's talk out what we like about the idea, what our reservations are, and how we can overcome them for down the road when we can all jump on this badboy.

Well here's a thought for the potential Rhy'Din wiki, I suppose. Just an over all thought, and I'm not sure where else to put it. But since we're basically talking about covering an in depth historical documentation of Rhy'Din as a whole... okay.

It annoys me that I'm getting the "RDI started on Q-link, shows how much you know!" vibe from some people. Especially when they throw in my face like I don't know. Like I haven't read that History of Rhy'Din a dozen times over to know this.

But what that history doesn't cover is: What is Q-link? Or am I wrong in actually saying: What WAS Q-link?

Because to the best of my knowledge, could be wrong, Q-link doesn't even really exist anymore. So some of the arguments concerning "shows how much you know about where it really started and this moving thing is just the same" are irrelevant in my opinion. AOL still exists. Q-link doesn't, am I wrong?

Honestly Ehz? I don't think the Wiki would even need an OOC section. Especially since any OOC discussion about Rhy'Din or the RDI tends to devolve into some kind of 'who was there longer' thing, or 'who contributed more'. Not always, that's just so often the vibe I get, y'know?

I'm for just making it an all IC encyclopedia, aside from some base guidelines about what can or cannot be posted.
