Forum Timestamp Issues 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 41
I received this message in my PM inbox from user IrinaBraeden:

What is the default time zone that this board is set up as being under?

Is it possible for the default time zone to either be set at EST or an option put into the edit profile screen to allow users to set their own time zones?

I ask because it's weird for me to see posts made at say 9pm est on Tuesday showing up as being made well into Wednesday morning.

Thanks in advance.

In response to this, I have poked around the administration area and have been unable to determine where the problem lies. I've looked in both the site global configuration and the Fireboard configuration. On the site global configuration, I have been able to locate the locale time offset. That is set at Eastern Time.

My first thought was that the Fireboard should work with that configuration, but this does not seem to be the case. I also checked the community builder options for profiles, but found nothing there that might be of help, such as an individual user time zone setting.

Again, this may simply be an issue of me not knowing what I'm looking at. Therefore, I'm posting my meandering thoughts on the issue here, in hopes that maybe one of the other administrators might notice something I didn't. It does seem very strange to see some posts made at odd times. Or incorrect times. Such as tomorrow. Um. Tomorrow hasn't come yet. What's the deal?

notably: this post is shown to have been posted on the 12th at 3:56 PM. The actual date of posting is the 11th of August at 4:56 PM. So for some reason our timestamps are a day ahead but an hour behind.

I think he way to set the boards time is here: (see attached image)

IE: If you wanted the board to be Eastern Time, you'd replace the 7 with a -5.

As for the feature of making the board "seem" to be in each users time, I've noooo clue.

Ahaaa. Thanks, Mel. I think it's -4, though, and not -5. Or maybe it's supposed to be -6. We'll see after I make this post, because I'm REALLY making it at 10:39 PM. Fiddling with configurations. Lah dee dah...

It's reading military time notation (the 24 hour clock, where 2400 means midnight), but the time itself is finally correct for EST. Thank you!

It's back again.

The time-warpy feeling, I mean. Posts that are made at for example noon today are showing up as noon yesterday in the listings. It'll say "Yesterday, 12:00pm", instead of "Today, 12:00pm", if that makes sense.

Halp!

Time stamps for the board remain the same for me. Crazy military time.
