Codes and Formatting 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 41
Sad to say that the BBC code everybody may be used to from the old proboard doesn't work quite the same over here on the fireboard. I noticed, while trying to reformat and repost a thread from the old forum to this one, that some things just don't work any more. The problem I had was with centering text on a post. Can't do it. Simply doesn't function.

I discussed this earlier in the week with our head designer and miracle-worker Mike. He says quite succinctly that centering is not an option. This leads me to believe that text alignment over all isn't an option either. While this is a little disappointing, I think it's tolerable. Weighing the pros and the cons of this board versus our old proboard has been a major issue in the development of this site.

Overall, it seems we've traded freedom of formatting for a fully integrated forum that works with the site and allows members the need to only login once. I'm going to try to figure out what all coding options are available, and which ones aren't. Though it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the boardcode bar above the input-message box when writing a thread or response. It's safe to say that if you don't see an option available in that tool, then you can't do it on this board, but I'll try to prepare a list in the near future.

As seen in another thread, Mike has taken the liberty to fix the coding for us so that now centering is an option. Huzzah! Though I think something might have got messed up in the color codes...

Also: BBC code does work in signatures. In case anyone was wondering. Notice how I underlined the book title that one quote's from in mine.

And oh hey, look at that. If you click the big red "Help" link at the top of the forum page, it'll take you to a comprehensive list of what all BBC code is available and what it does when you use it. I just now noticed.

The man's pretty awesome when it comes to fixing things. He once spent and entire day making sub-categories work for TA, which was good, because I tried once and just ended up drooling all over my keyboard.
