June CS Nominations 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 41
Kind of a set-back. Way far behind on posting this in any timely fashion. Not even sure if I want to run a poll in May for the June issue regarding this subject. But I have no way of knowing whether or not what I'm hoping for turns out the way I'd like.

In any case. We've got a day at most. Anyone who'd like to make some nominations, hurry up and shout them out. I'll probably put a poll up anyway. Which characters names should be listed in the five?

AGAIN?

You know. At this rate, I almost think she's been NOMINATED enough times to just freaking win the next poll by default. XD

Again.

And maybe you are right. If you turn on unlimited voting, she just might. There are some of us who are damned determined, it would seem.

Here's the funny thing. I went through all the previous months posts, just to try to count up how many times characters were nominated and seconded. This is what I've got. Those in italics have already won polls and been featured in the Character Spotlight articles.

Alysia
Amthyst Oak x2
Archie Kennedy
Ariana MacGyldren
Colleen MacLeod x2
Corlanthis
Diana Lasher
Ehzoterik x2
Elias Montero
Harold Lowe x2
Lola x2
Maia d'Thalia x5
Mesteno x3
Panther x2
Rena Cronin x2
Rhiannon Harker
Shylah x3
Sinjin Fai x3
Stormraven k'Leysha
Suliss'urn Xukuth x2
Tasslehofl x2
Victoria Chylde x3
Zonker x3

Now I'm tempted to go back and look at the names that were on the previous ballots. Count up how many times total each name got a vote. Factor that into the equation...

Hey, if it's too short of notice to expect and get any other nominees, I can always use that to figure out who to include in the next poll.

I don't really want Harold spotlighted. :hrugs:: Most everything that needs to be said about him already has been on these very forums.

So... This month's poll is going to be posted a little late. There are 31 days in May, though, so that's okay. It may just mean that our reporter will have less time to contact and interview a winner. The reason it's late is all my fault. I can't make a decision.

On the one hand, I'm considering not posting a poll in hopes that Tass will come crawling out of the woodwork. It's not right that last month's winner, the spotlight for this month's issue, didn't have a feature article. I'm still interested in featuring him as he deserves.

But on the other hand, of course, I don't want to be disappointed on the chance that he doesn't show up to complete his interview any time soon. I don't want to bet all my money on him only to lose.

So I did go back and look at the past polls. Of those characters who did not win the election, as it were, and make it into a feature article, here's what I calculated in:

  • Amthy Oak - 6 votes, 2 nominations
  • Colleen MacLeod - 2 votes, 2 nominations
  • Corlanthis - 2 votes, 1 nomination
  • Lola - 3 votes, 2 nominations
  • Mesteno - 4 votes, 3 nominations
  • Panther - 2 votes, 2 nominations
  • Rena Cronin - 3 votes, 2 nominations
  • Shylah - 7 votes, 3 nominations
  • Sinjin Fai - 3 votes, 3 nominations
  • Stormraven k'Leshya - 1 votes, 1 nominations
  • Suliss'urn Xukuth - 6 votes, 2 nominations

Given that, I have some options. All depending on whether or not anyone steps up to the plate in the next day or so to drop any alternative nominations. I would still like to run a poll. Though I think I'm going to schedule it to run from Sunday the 4th until Saturday the 17th. That should still give our reporter two weeks to do her job.

If I don't get any further nominations, apart from Alysia and Suliss, what should I do? Should I go with the top choices from the list above, or should I go with the underdogs even higher up who haven't even seen a chance in our polls? What do you guys think?

I wish we could nominate and interview the mundane, too, without it breaching their privacy.

Some times, I love reading how the people behind the characters think.

I think you should run a poll, with nominations or with the top vote getters from the list, this time. In the future, you can always pull up old nominations to run an underdogs poll. It's your poll!

When Tass crawls out of the woodwork, you can cross that bridge. If he shows up after you start the poll, but before you close it, you can use him for June and the poll winner for July. Or use him for July when he shows up at the end of the month, savvy?

Or you can ignore my painfully opinionated self, which is always a smart move.
