I've tried to remove my subscription to this one thread about a dozen times. Each time it says: "you are not allowed!!!" Or something to that effect. I don't know what the problem is, but I'm getting annoyed with continuing to get these e-mails that tell me: "hey someone posted to the thread you subscribed to!" When I didn't mean to in the first place and now can't unsubscribe from it.

Yeah, I'm aware of this issue. I'll look into it. I could always manually remove your subscriptions from the database if you like until I can figure out why the "Unsubscribe" isn't working as it should. Might be because of the CB integration - maybe a uninstall and reinstall of the forum tabs there would help. I'll keep you posted.

Whatever you think is best. I haven't poked around in the back end too terribly much. Regardless of getting back-ups every day, I'm still a little scared of accidentally screwing something up!

EDIT: Scratch that. Everything below no longer applies.

I activated it, and tested it out. It works, but. Switching back to the the Vista default (ME) only seems to work for the main site. The forums kept the new template I switched to.

So it's buggy.

I've reactivated the template chooser for the main Joomla site.

A few people have admitted to me in confidence via I.M's that the coloring of the main site is one of the reasons why they don't like to visit long.

While I don't think it's that bad, per se, I know that some like choices. So for an experiment, I've reactivated it.

They can and anyone can, pick a template they like but they can't change the way the forum looks. Forum coloring is as it is.

If this isn't wanted or welcomed, let me know. It can disappear just as quickly as it appeared.

Some sort of issue with the cookies, I think, when you switch over and then switch back--the Joomla front site reverts to whatever you switch back too, but the forum keeps the switched template.

For example, I chose the dark eye one. Didn't like it. Went back to Vista and the front end reverted to Vista, but the forums was still dark eye. I had to completely log out and delete cookies to have the forum return to the default Vista.

Did that explain it alright? :d

Yep, it's the fireboard's cache that is causing the problem. I'm not sure what would be easier, converting to a new forum like SMF or recoding the forum. Since the theme and the forum are the main time consumers here, it won't be an easy task.

Neither, if you ask me.

Members are just getting used to this forum. Giving them a new one may chase them off for good.

Not to mention, honestly? I don't feel like rewriting faqs.

So nevermind the different templates :d

Yeah, and I really don't want to have to tell people they have to transfer their threads. Again! x.x

Wiki - VERY BETA 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 8
The default installation of the OpenWiki (DocuWiki) is installed, but obviously needs a ton of tweaking to look good and setup. To whomever put the link to it on the main menu as "OpenWiki" and as public access, I changed it to "Wiki - VERY BETA" and only registered can see it. I also think that STAFF ONLY might be the ones to see it in this beta stage, but it's your call. I surely don't think it should be public access. That will only turn people off from the site. Change it to whatever you like, through using the Main Menu editor in the backend.

So, here's the skinny. The Wiki is not going to be the easiest thing to work with unless you have some Wiki know-how. Coding the Wiki to match the site and be "purdy" will take even more knowledge.

These things have to be taken into consideration before deciding whether or not you want to keep the Wiki. Also, to what extent will it be used? Personally, I like Wikis, but they're not for the faint of heart when running one.

Thank you, Mike. And also thank you for the thoughts on the Wiki in and of itself. Like Harold suggested, I think we're just going to keep it in the background as a potential future resource. We still have a lot of other components to figure out and get working smoothly with the site before I think we'll be ready to move onto a bigger project like this.

I've taken a look at it. Doesn't look bad right now, but ... yes. It'll take some learning and getting used to. All in due time.
